Contact your Representative!!! -- we don't want war with Iran
I apologize if someone has already mentioned this. Here is the text from Downsizer Dispatch:
Subject: Stop Congress from fomenting another war
We rarely send you action items on Saturday. We're doing so today because the House appears likely to vote on a bad resolution early next week. If you oppose starting a war with Iran then we must act now to oppose House Concurrent Resolution 362.
This resolution has 169 co-sponsors, including 77 Democrats and 92 Republicans. The resolution calls on President Bush to . . .
*Create an international blockade of Iran to prevent it from importing the refined gasoline it needs to run its economy
*Subject all cargo entering or leaving Iran to stringent inspections
*Tighten economic sanctions against Iran
*Violate international treaties by prohibiting Iranian officials not involved in negotiating the suspension of Iran's nuclear program from travelling abroad.
If another country took such actions against us, we would consider it an act of war. In addition, passage of this resolution would end negotiations with Iran in Baghdad that the administration has recently signaled it was prepared to resume.
House Concurrent Resolution 362 is a major step toward war. It would reduce the opportunity for a negotiated settlement with Iran, and even worse, President Bush could take this resolution as a sign that he has Congressional support to attack Iran before he leaves office.

There is another Senate Resolution in the pipeline with 26 co-sponsors, so this needs to be nipped in the bud.

OK, I've had it up to my eyeballs. I've written these idiots for months, received "responses" not worth the email space they're written in, and have been ignored.
THAT'S IT. I'm going to hunt these people down where they live & work and personally present my positions and hand them the letter myself. I want Cleaver in MO Dist 5 to look me in the eye and explain what the H he thinks he's doing!

Mail sent to WA State Senators
Sen. Cantwell/Murray:
I am appalled by your sponsorship of [S.RES.580.IS]. No sanctions or threats against Iran are necessary to ensure America’s safety and security. In fact, voting for this resolution only serves to threaten America’s safety and security.
As it was with Cuba and Iraq, our struggle with Iran is with its government – not its people. Sanctions and embargoes do nothing to coerce change from “evil” governments; they only punish the citizenry. Embargoes didn’t cripple Castro in Cuba, and sanctions didn’t weaken Saddam in Iraq. Sanctions won’t work on the Iranian government or its fisher price military which our government has deemed so threatening.
The people of this state elected you to help strengthen and secure America. Resolutions like S.RES.580 only serve to weaken our stance internationally by placing us on a path to war with Iran. Your constituents expect you to fulfill your Constitutional duties and vote against S.RES.580 and other similar irresponsible measures. Please don’t let us down.
Congresswoman contact
I contacted my Congresswoman when this first hit,and I detailed my displeasure with the impending legislation and it's ramifications.I got a answer today and it's a little generic (probably standard protocol for answering E-mails) here's what she had to say.
Dear Faron:
Thank you for writing to me with your concerns of possible military action against Iran . I appreciate your taking the time to share your views.
I am alarmed that the Bush administration continues to raise the possibility of a pre-emptive strike against Iran . Our experience in Iraq has demonstrated the clear need for Congress to protect and fulfill its Constitutional responsibilities in matters of war and peace. As you know, I voted against the Iraq war in 2002. I did not believe the Administration's arguments for military action then and I do not perceive any profound reasons now. I stated to the President then that we need to exhaust our diplomatic options.
Congress needs to play a role in shaping our nations foreign policy and the President should welcome our input. We must work together to figure out a way to bring Iran back into the international community.
Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Please know that your comments and questions are always welcome. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Sincerely,
Eddie Bernice Johnson
Member of Congress
THEY won't LISTEN
The CFR people who control our POLITICAL PUPPETS will not listen. I fear they are wanting, not only control of the oil in Iraq & Iran, but also in the United States.
Most politicians are corrupt or pathetically STUPID, take your pick.
I Just Called
I just called my Representative Connie Mack IV and Senator Martinez. I was only able to speak with their aids. The US is in trouble, we have politicians who are so clueless.Their argument is Iran has nuclear weapons or are about to make them. Sadly, the only thing that will wake them up is WW III or a depression. Incidentally, they are both co sponsors of the bills mentioned.
"Terrorism"
A just war means defending our freedoms from oppressors. Iran's being a threat does not justify our empire-building in the Middle East. This war on terror is actually a war on our freedoms, though we are told that the PATRIOT Act is needed to PROTECT our freedoms, when it takes them away. Kind of ironic, is it not?

Bill Buckler of the Privateer
said " Iran has acted with speed and moved its foreign exchange from European banks in anticipation that these Iranian reserves would be frozen under a stiffer regime of US-led sanctions. Iran has ANNOUNCED THIS PUBLICLY. 'Based on a decision made by a government working group, Iran has switched to "genuine" assets like Gold and shares...We have decreased our foreign currency holdings in international banks.' So said Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Affairs, Mohsen Talaei, on June 9th".
Buckler further said
"Gold is the Global Monetary Nuclear Bomb - it is one thing for Iran to stop selling its oil in U.S. Dollars, in the process displacing the U.S. Dollar from this vital part of the commodities markets. It is another thing entirely for Iran to move to change parts of its foreign exchange reserves from U.S. Dollars into Gold.....Geo-strategically, from this point on, the US has to declare a de facto WAR on Gold - as well as Iran - through sanctions, blockade or outright attack to defend the Dollar."

When are they voting?
When are they voting? This is huge in my opinion. It will be a big milestone-mistake in leading US to WWIII. I'm starting to believe more everyday that many government officials are selling out the US entirely. They must have been promised great riches and glory in the new world they strive to make. A world without personal liberties and they and their co-conspirators reign as kings over all.
Of course they will fail miserably if this is their goal. I have been praying/hoping for the last week that we don't even start down the path of such a hypothetical scenario.
Unfortunately, my
Unfortunately, my representative, Don (not so) Young, as well as my state's senior (VERY senior!) senator, Ted "You Kids Get Off My Lawn!" Stevens, are both eager for war with Iran. But since the first is a learning-impaired Neanderthal, and the second is about 346 years old and the poster child (?) for special-interest politics at its worst, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.
No Surprise to See my Representative as Co-Sponsor
I sent email to my representative a day or two ago regarding this bill. I email him frequently, but he is a Bush rubber stamp and ALWAYS votes with Bush Administration. I am talking about Michael McCaul of Texas. I hope there are enough Texans who are fed up with him and will kick him out of office when he is up for reelection. Same thing for Texas Senators Cornyn and Hutchinson. Their voting record is horrible. Not sure they even know what the Constitution is. I do believe that Cornyn is going to be defeated this time. He has stiff competition from a veteran of Afghanistan war, Rick Noriega.
I will keep writing to my representative and Senators, but from past experience it will do no good at all. And for my effort, I will get a form letter from them that doesn't even address the issues I wrote about.....
Letter
Rep. Matheson,
As you are a man of integrity I am appalled at your sponsorship of Concurrent Resolution 362.
I urge you not to vote for this resolution. If this resolution was brought against the United States it would be considered an act of war. With the passing of the Resolution, Iran would be morally justified in declaring war upon these States. As we are spread thin, this could only lead to a draft of its very people to fight what I would deem as an unnecessary war. I as a man of draft age would be honored to fight for my country and would if asked to do so. However I could not in good conscience fight a foreign war which could have been avoided if only our leaders held to the wise and prudent wisdom from our founding fathers.
These founding fathers knew the dangers of fighting abroad in matter which held no consequence to the safety of its people. They were raised in a time of British Imperialism. While I feel it is absurd to equate America with an empire, it is not absurd to see that America has reached far beyond of that which it should. Our nation was founded with the ideals that war should only be waged if only we were attacked. When, sir, may I ask were we attacked by Iran?
America needs to revert to being a shining light upon a hill, an example to the world of how prosperity can be obtained through low taxes, freedom, liberty, and not involving itself in matters outside its borders. Only then can we change the world. We can't change it by force.
We can't change it through threats, embargo's, and hard diplomacy. We can only change it by standing for truths and allowing the people in oppressed nations such as Iran to see us as the pillar we should be. A pillar which is slowly crumbling every day due to resolutions such as these. For them to yearn for such rights and freedoms and to fight for those rights themselves through reprisal of violent or peaceful means. To overthrow those oppressive governments and earn for themselves a government which will allow them too to prosper in their own lands.
If all nations never attacked another without being attacked itself, no wars would ever be waged. Do you not see the wise counsel that our founding fathers espoused? It is important we have a strong military, but it is also equally important we not use that power unjustly.
No words are necessary in this matter pertaining to Iran. Our might of military should be enough to calm any bad intentions Iran may display. Ask yourself, what will this resolution do? What will be it's consequence? Will it achieve the peace I hope you long for? We are dealing with mad men, will this resolution calm their appetites for blood or will it provide cause to work their people up in the fervor of war? Ask yourself, what good will this resolution achieve?
Please examine your heart Representative Matheson. Please pray about this vote. I urge you, I implore you not to go through with a vote of this manner. We will only be protected if we are just in our engagements. This is not a just engagement and we will be admonished if you and your fellow Congressmen vote for such a resolution.
I remind you of that oath of office which you swore. To uphold this lands Constitution. A constitution who's founders were eternally wise in their wisdom. Wisdom which urges us to not become involved in matters such as this one with Iran.
I leave you to ponder these words. I urge you to examine the consequences of such a resolution. I implore you to vote against this resolution. I know a man of your heart will only make the right decision. That is why the people of this district have elected you and they are counting on you to make the correct decision representing ours and your beliefs. I remind you, a vote for this resolution is a vote of mine. If you vote for this resolution, so have I and so have every man woman and child who lives within the borders of which you represent.
Thank you,
Chris S. Nielsen
Voter, 2nd Congressional District of Utah
Letters sent
I sent my letters to Rep Wittman and Senators Warner and Webb. I wanted to let folks know that if go to www.senate.gov or www.house.gov, you can click on your appropriate congressman/congresswoman or senator. Someone posted another link below with a form letter but that link as a date of 2006. I think it is best if you go through the above sites that I included above. With the news from the BBC late this week on the pending global crash, these letters are even more important.
Long live freedom and peace,

That AIPAC controlled Wasserman-Schultz is on this bill too.
The worst part is, her "e-mail me" system doesn't even work!

Dan Burton,
I would like to know if you actually READ the house resolution #362 before co-sponsering it. The resolution contains:
* Creating an international blockade of Iran to prevent it from importing the refined gasoline it needs to run its economy (that alone is a declaration of war)
* Subject all cargo entering or leaving Iran to stringent inspections (why should they allow anyone else to inspect their cargo? we wouldn't)
* Tighten economic sanctions against Iran (sanctions DO NOT work and you know that from past history)
* Violate international treaties by prohibiting Iranian officials not involved in negotiating the suspension of Iran's nuclear program from traveling abroad. (violate international treaties- enough already!)
As for your voting record, honestly Dan Burton, you call yourself a republican? Yes you do and I would like to know on what grounds as a republican stands for limited government, non interventionism, low taxes and peaceful resolutions, but most importantly, FOLLOWING THE CONSTITUTION. That said, please also understand that the oil crisis is directly related to the falling dollar which we can credit the unlawful federal reserve for. I could go on and on and surely you must disagree with me or you wouldn't be doing all of the unconstitutional things that are damaging not just the citizens of Indiana, but the entire Nation, not to mention the National security that YOU sir, are putting at risk by sponsering resolutions that obviously aid in other countries hatred of the Americans and which are a blatant attack on them escalating the chances for war. What is it that you don't understand? I would be honored to meet with you at any time to discuss any and every issue as I feel you need some information and encouragement to follow the oath you took when entering office which was to FOLLOW the Constitution.

Awesome letter! Do you mind
Awesome letter! Do you mind if we adapt it and use it?
What a GREAT letter!
I think it is always good to end the letters to congress reminding them of their OATH to office.
In the name of Zionism, yet again....
Gee, do you think the House and Senate are taking these actions in the best interests of the US? Pat Buchanan has recently referred to the House and Senate floors as "Occupied Territories". Wonder what he means by that......
You can love a German but hate Nazism, just like you can love a Jew but hate Zionism.
Please, please people - wake up.
RIGHT ON
No question that Israel is running our foreign policy.
What are they doing now? Threatening to attack Iran in the
hopes that the US will do it for them?
If I were the leader of Iran, I would be pulling out ALL stops
to gain access to some nukes and the means to deliver them.
Seems to me that is the best way a country can avoid getting
attacked by the US.
The greedy ZioNazis have painted themselves into a corner
and do not know how to get out. They are after LAND
and not peace.
They will deserve what they get.
perhaps this has something to do with it

Then Ahmadinejad got into more economic specifics: "As you know the decrease in the dollar's value and the increase in energy prices are two sides of the same coin which are being introduced as factors behind the recent instability." As part of his proposed solution, which might make oil more affordable for purchasers who are not buying oil with dollars, Ahmadinejad stated:
"I repeat my suggestion made six months ago at the OPEC summit in Riyadh to create a basket of credible currencies which would be the basis for oil transactions. Or alternatively, that OPEC countries create a new currency for their transactions."
Not one of mine are on
Not one of mine are on there. Maybe my impassioned letters have done some good. I have REALLY written them a lot about the Constitution....
act on this everybody!
send this to everyone you can!
wut sunny says!

The war propaganda has made many Americans insane, including (evidently) much of Congress.

Please Write a Letter!
"This resolution has 169 co-sponsors, including 77 Democrats and 92 Republicans. The resolution calls on President Bush to . . .
* Create an international blockade of Iran to prevent it from importing the refined gasoline it needs to run its economy
* Subject all cargo entering or leaving Iran to stringent inspections
* Tighten economic sanctions against Iran
* Violate international treaties by prohibiting Iranian officials not involved in negotiating the suspension of Iran's nuclear program from traveling abroad.
If another country took such actions against us, we would consider it an act of war. In addition, passage of this resolution would end negotiations with Iran in Baghdad that the administration has recently signaled it was prepared to resume."

Thanks for the link.
You're welcome...indeed my pleasure!
In my comments, I mentioned that Iran has not attacked another country in over 1700 years and is not creating a nuclear weapons program according to the NIE. I personally feel more threatened by what our government is doing and has done to our Constitution than I ever have by Iran.
Congress
I'll be contacting my Congresswoman soon, but she may not have a say in it even though she supports the idea.Nancy Pelosi has removed Congressional approval from a bill that would require that before going to war with Iran. All the President has to do is say let's go,and he's been pushing it through Europe the past weeks.I see the need for a impeachment process on a large scale.

Her record is despicable...I wish you lots of good luck cuz she really needs to go......
indiana people
i hope you are all watching and understanding that our congress is against us, the nation and the world. obviously, for these traitors we call congressmen, it is easier to go along with the party-the trounce on everyone to be popular party- than to use discression or even intelligence. we need to get these people out before we are destroyed. unfortunately, as my texas lover pointed out, people from indiana have the "whatever" attitude which leads me to believe, well, i will stop there.
kudos to all of my fellow freedom foghters in indiana and beyond.
i hope i am not the only one objecting as one person is not enough. they probably just delete my messages as i am sure they are real tired of hearing from me on every single move they make which, by my estimation, has been flawed and/or unconstitutional.
