Let's Put the "Independence" Back Into Independence Day
Oh-kay, it's been almost three full days since we hit the 60,000 mark, and we're only just now about to scrape past 62,000. This tells me we need to pick up the pace in spreading the word about the CFL, and I believe Independence Day is a powerful theme to harness for this purpose.
We often refer to people still hoodwinked by the system, unkindly yet accurately, as "sheeple." Many such people, misguided as they may be, fervently believe they have the swell of patriotism yet beating in their breast, and I propose that right now, as we approach the celebration of our nation's birth, is an excellent time to leverage that sensibility.
Here's a little something I typed up and sent to someone who is still in the status quo, business-as-usual camp as far as politics go. I designed this missive specifically for those who never felt RP had a chance at the Oval Office even if they did think some of his ideas were on-target, because they didn't see enough wide-spread support for RP. This is for the "He'll never get enough votes" crowd.
Feel free to use/alter as you see fit for your target demographic. Consider their concerns, and certainly their love of their country, and design your message accordingly. Whatever you choose to write, I would urge you to connect the upcoming Independence Day holiday with the very real concept of true independence, to be gained through personal liberty.
I rather think that this 4th of July can be about a lot more than hot dogs and fireworks. Let's use this drumbeat of national celebration to drum up more supporters for the cause of freedom.

Dear XXXX,
As you may know, Republican Congressman Ron Paul has officially ended his run for the White House. He has now begun a new phase in the peaceful "revolution," which is really a continuation of what we've been working on all along: returning our nation to a Constitutional republic.
This next phase is called Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty. It just unofficially started up June 12th, with a membership goal of 100,000 people by its official start date of September 2, 2008. It reached half of its membership goal within three days of its unveiling. And it's growing daily.
The reason is simple: freedom is popular.
Here's the Campaign for Liberty's mission statement, strategy and statement of principles. The U.S. Constitution is at the heart of what the Campaign for Liberty stands for, since the very least we can demand of our government is fidelity to its own governing document.
And here's a short video of Ron Paul introducing the Campaign for Liberty. I'll think you'll find what he has to say interesting.
Help get our nation back on track. Sign up with the Campaign for Liberty. There's no fee, and you'll join more than 61,000 people who are partnering with the Campaign for Liberty to stand up for, honor and defend our Constitution, and hold our legislators and representatives accountable to the guiding document upon which our nation was founded.
As we approach the birthday of our country, I hope you'll reflect on all that our Founding Fathers worked so hard for, and those who fought and died to secure our liberty and independence, and that you will take a few moments to check out the Campaign for Liberty.

Independence Day Bump
Today, our RP Meetup group and another in our area joined together to march in our local 4th of July parade to help spread the CFL message. We got to talk about the Constitution with many people, and during the parade, spectators seemed very enthusiastic, and several asked for their own slip of paper that we were handing out with the Campaign for Liberty URL on it. A great day of spreading the message in a fun way!!
CFL membership count is at 66,839 as I write.
Campaign for Liberty
needs to put up an official MySpace site...
even if it is just basic/generic right now -
so that we can promote it on our Myspace pages
and draw people there and get hundreds more to join!
Great letter...
I have already encouraged people to join, whether Dem or Rep or whatever...doesn't hurt to try again, though...
Night Owl Bump
For those who may not have seen this earlier today.
