We institute governments to protect our lives and our property from those who would take them by force. Taking a citizen's property just because someone else will pay more taxes if they can seize it, is an abomination.

Kelo v. New London will be remembered alongside the Dred Scott and Korematsu decisions as one of the greatest failures of the supreme court.

did she get paid for her land? I mean, I know that does not make any difference if she did not want to sell. I am just wondering if she got paid and how much. I thought the government usually paid top of the market, but I am probably wrong about that.

The government CANNOT obtain your land if you have a land patent because eminent domain does not apply. But, starting in the 1930s with the coming of "Title companies" and land titles, the government took over all the land, which they rent to you as taxes! Only an original land patent from the BLM, signed by the POTUS, overrides their eminent domain BS. I have seen many of these land patent documents from the 1880s to the early part of this century, and they are beautiful documents, hand done in duplicate, signed by the President at the time. That the President's signature is on a document recording ownership of land you bought anywhere in this country was a testament to how important our Founders thought direct and sole ownership of the land, by the people, was, and still is.
Somebody could forward this info to KELO, I tried a couple of years ago after the ruling came through, but since I called one of those MSM traitorous radio talk show guys (fill in any name here)who had her on, nothing came of it.

court subsituted the word "purpose" for "use" in the 5th Amendment. The primary use for the land, thus stolen, was for Pizer Phamaceutical, not for the public. An agregious example of the government's refusal (in this case, the supreme court) to obey the constitution.
