Ron Paul: A Major Victory for Texas

Texas Straight Talk
I am pleased to report that last week we received notice that the Texas Department of Transportation will recommend the I-69 Project be developed using existing highway facilities instead of the proposed massive new Trans Texas Corridor/NAFTA Superhighway. According to the Texas Transportation Commissioner, consideration is no longer being given to new corridors and other proposals for a new highway footprint for this project. A major looming threat to property rights and national sovereignty is removed with this encouraging announcement.
Public outcry was cited as the main reason for this decision. I was very impressed to learn that the TxDOT received nearly 28,000 public comments on this matter, and that some 12,000 Texans attended the 47 public hearings held earlier this year. They could not ignore this tsunami of strong public opinion against the proposed plans. I was especially proud of how informed my constituents became on the subject, and how eloquently and respectfully they spoke and conducted themselves, considering how upsetting the plans were for our communities in Texas .
This is a major victory for the people of Texas , and a reminder of what we can accomplish with civic involvement. The informed and active citizen truly is a force to be reckoned with, as we have seen with the defeat of this proposal. We must keep fighting the good fight, and remain ever diligent against the encroachments of big government. We must do this if we wish to maintain our traditional standard of living in this country. As tempting as it may be to simply live our lives with no regard to government, apathy will inevitably be punished by ever more government intrusion. That is what this fight was all about. We can win if we stick together.
However, now is not the time to rest on our laurels. The bittersweet aspect of this victory is that we had to fight at all. We took time away from family and friends, doing other things, to attend these meetings, inform others, write letters, post signs and submit our complaints, and we should not have had to. Government should let us be, if we are peaceful citizens, harming no one. In a perfect world, government could be trusted to act in the best interests of the people without overwhelming pressure of this kind. This is not a perfect world. Constant pressure is needed to keep government in check, and we succeeded this time. But this will not be the last time citizen efforts and involvement will be required. We still face many unreasonable encroachments of big government today, from confiscatory, economy-strangling taxation to creeping disregard of the right of habeas corpus and other Constitutional rights, to thousands of nuisance bureaucratic regulations interfering with our every day lives. We have drifted far from what the founding fathers envisioned for this nation. Last week was just one victory towards getting back on the right path. We must continue to hold politicians’ feet to the Constitutional fire. If I had to guess, they will probably try to implement the NAFTA Superhighway again sometime in the future.
It is a never-ending battle, but it must be fought, and can be won. I am proud to stand with my constituents in this fight, and in the other fights we have ahead of us.

Please All States Wakeup
Just because you don't see or have been affected by the NAU. It is definitely underway.
The Immigration issue is also tied in with it. That's why we can't have Amnesty. The issue is not about immigration the reason for the influx is to push the NAU. The NAU is the focus of our adversaries. The vast majority of Americans and Illegal's are unaware of why our borders are wide open. I for one thought the Borders would be shut down the day after Sept.11th , but because they weren't and President George W.here's the fence Bush didn't
do follow through I began to search . Why doesn't he shutdown the border I kept asking myself. The Answer: (The North American Union)
Understand the Constitution and We the People are the only things standing in their way.
Sincerely,
Texan4RP
So we stopped a conspiracy theory?
But I thought those didn't exist? We have the North American leaders on video last summer calling the NAFTA superhighway a loony conspiracy theory.

We haven't won anything. Back to your trenches....

Sounds a Tad Suspicious ..
While outwardly encouraging, the first thing I thought of was that they would propose expanding the existing corridors to a mile wide or some such thing.
We're all watching you Texas.
It's a Smoke Screen !!!!
They are just changing direction. I do not trust any of them. We must understand they will not stop unless we can CheckMate the whole process including all funding and all sneeky political manuvers. The North American Union MUST BE STOPPED !!!! It is a major piece to the taking of our Soverienty and we can't allow it to progress any further.
I was one of those who showed up to speak against the Nau at the dallas public forum. You should have seen all the maps an alternate routes they have preplanned. They knew we would rise up so they worked that idea into their plan. They are not to be trusted. I'm not even sure what they call the TTC anymore. The same thing goes for the NAU. They keep changing the names to throw us off.
I'm actually mad because they are not stopping they are just shifting gears.
Sincerely,
Texan4RP

This is encouraging!
To see that public outrage and dissent of an organized group of citizens can get political leaders to listen is a sign the process still works to a degree. Now, has the Kansas City Smart Port been swiftboated? I believe I read this was to be Mexican sovereign territory.

WOO HOO!
Yes, we did achieve a minor victory here. Unfortunately, we've not yet stopped the TTC.
What we DID accomplish was getting the idiotic TxDOT to scrap their plan to pave over thousands of acres of farm/ranch/timber property. They have simply moved the TTC/I-69 over to another existing highway for now.
The TTC/I-35 is still in progress and that's a battle still to be fought and won.
In spite of the limits to our success....I must say that it feels VERY GOOD to know that average citizens can have such an impact. We are just working, tax-paying citizens that got really angry at our state's arrogance. So we organized and got busy.
We worked our a$$es off. We protested, educated our neighbors, wrote letters, took out radio & newspaper ads, conducted a postcard campaign, and generally bacame a thorn in the side of that agency. We also made efforts to coordinate our activites across county lines so as to make a bigger impact.
It worked! There's still lots of work to do but we did take a few days to celebrate our little victory.
By the way, I've taken every opportunity to let people know that RON PAUL was the first and only U.S rep to speak out against this thing (many state reps & senators have been against it all along).......RP is well loved amongst the anti-TTC crowd.
I 69 = NAFTA Superhighway?

What exactly is the I-69 Project. Is this another way of saying NAFTA Superhighway. I looked it up but it was too vague. One of the benefits was this:

"More job opportunities will arise due to new and improved trade and transport corridors."
Improved trade between who? US, MEX and CAN?
Does anyone know?

Yes,
the I-69 = NAFTA Superhighway.
But it's not that simple. There are multiple "corridors" planned throughout the state. The I-35 section is already a work in progress. We've moved the I-69 corridor but not stopped it.
they have spent alot of money on the Trans Texas Corridor
www.dvds4delegates.com the newest and possibly the greatest weapon the Revolution now possesses.
I hope it is true, but more research needs to be done. I cannot see them just ending this. Keep up the great work.

...don't listen to what they say. Actions speak louder than words! They may just be saying this to throw off the opposition and still proceeding with construction. If I understand correctly, there are sections out in the middle of nowhere that they have started. If I lived in Texas, I would document any further progress on existing sections of the TTC and submit them to the authorities and activists immediately. Hopefully, those authoritites won't be the ones bought and paid for by the NAU and the SPP!

somehow, I doubt this is the end of the NAU or the NAFTA Superhighway... but maybe it is the beginning of the end?
Another Example of Excessive Government
I agree, the government is already excessively too large, overwhelmingly powerful compared to the people, and growing exponentially in size.
The only solution is to majorly cut it back.
Otherwise we will be fighting government drones every day.
