Why did Dr. Paul end his Presidential campaign?
Dr. Paul continually said he would stay in the race as long as his supporters were with him. Many states right to the end battled for delegate spots, continued with rallies, billboards and HOPE that a door would be opened to him for the nomination. Dr. Paul said many times, anything could happen and he was going to continue all the way to the National convention. So WHY did he get out of the race?
Dr. Paul, nor his campaign staff has fully stated why he ended the campaign. I tried to send an e-mail at Campaign for Liberty, with these questions, but when I put in the code it said it wasn't a valid number and lost my e-mail twice. I would like to know how we can contact someone and get the answer.

Looking back.....
it's sad that the early primaries only gave minimal support to Dr. Paul. I think the campaign staff should have stopped real quick and did a reality check. They would have realized that it was the GOP themselves that were giving the encouragment for blacking out Ron Paul and making sure he was marginalized all along the campaign trail. And they took advantage of Dr. Paul's willingness to "not fight". The early primaries were so important, and so little was done in Iowa. We should have had a legal scholar on board like Judge Roy Moore who was capable of challenging some of the bully tactics of the GOP on behalf of Dr. Paul and bringing the challange to light in National News. The GOP continually kicked sand in Dr. Paul's face, and his campaign did nothing to counter attack. Let's face it, most American's like Dr. Paul's positions and logic, so why so little support in the primaries? We can chalk this loss up to the lack of political skills and experience on the part of the campaign staff. When the delegate situation was getting too out of hand, Ron Paul should have been advised to come out with a VP pick who might "double" the Ron Paul message in the media and hopefully grab some more attention. At this point, you've got nothing to lose. Go for it, or well, lose.
The way I understand it, Ron
The way I understand it, Ron Paul ended his campaign - not his candidacy. So he is still a candidate and can still be nominated at the convention, as far as I know.
I am not going to assume this is a troll thread
Unlike some people below. It's a legitimate question.
I was a bit surprised too and thought he might just be tired. But jcr is probably right. He wanted to move the focus away from himself (and it is unlikely although not impossible he will become POTUS at this point) and onto building an enduring movement, while the election season is on, while he has some pull (with the media) because he raised so much money, while there is momentum. And while the Republican party is in a mess.
I think it was probably a good idea. He has only suspended it and if McCain's fuse blows and he freezes forever mid-sentence, who knows what might happen?
I sometimes think he is far more realistic than we are. Not that this is any reason at all to stop acting as though he is still in the race.
But if he is not on the ballot and some people choose to vote Barr, anyone who tells them they are 'false' Ron Paul supporter is, imho, a 'di*khead' Ron Paul supporter.
Because he did the math.
Once the primaries were over, there's no way to get any more delegates.
The RP delegates will still go to the convention and make their point. There's a lot of work to do on that platform, for one thing. Meanwhile, the good doctor has switched gears from an effort for a single election cycle, to building a long-term movement to fix the Republican party and return the country to the constitution.

Everyone don't listen to the

Ron Paul did NOT END his campaign, he is NOT out of the race
Listen and read, and read and listen. The work for the primaries is over and done with.. for all the candidates... it is now a matter of all grassroot workers to do what we can, spread the word, strengthen and build up the Campaign for Liberty. Have you joined yet Kim?
He certainly is out of the race.
"I have decided to end my campaign for the presidency of the United States. It is now time to take the energy that the campaign has awakened and channel it into long-term efforts to take back our country." -Ron Paul www.ronpaul2008.com

Technically
Technically he suspended it didnt he?
I can't believe you are still asking this, Kim
You must not hang out here much. He is totally still in it. What he did he said was a "technicality." He has shifted to increase momentum, get on tv, not appear to be a threat, etc. Just get him elected. That is all that is necessary.
He didn't, he just handed the ball to us

so go be a delegate or donate to www.dvds4delegates.com to steal delegates from McCain.

I think that it is so we might have an easier time at the ...
conventions. Note that he NEVER QUIT CAMPAIGNING he just changed the name! Suspending does not mean that he cannot get nominated. He still has his delegates because he never released them. Not only that, but have you noticed that the campaign was essentially dormant after he "scaled down" the first time?? It is NOT Ron Paul who is keeping this going, it is US. WE THE PEOPLE!!! All over the nation people are attending their state's convention to take a stand for what they believe in even while they know his chances of being the Republican nominee are slim to none. Suspending his campaign really doesn't change anything since he can still get delegates and they can still vote for him.
I would advise you to take a look at the following post as I think it has broken down the facts quite brilliantly!

I don't know
Why he "suspended" not ended his campaign, or how to get in touch with anyone from the campaign.
However, the primaries are over so there are no more delegates to gain/loose and he being the true conservative still has all the rEVOLution money left over to create the Campaign for Liberty.
I don't know if it's possible to get it, but he is still "On the list" at the National Convention.
So either way, the rEVOLution will continue.
For me, this is bigger than Ron Paul. This is our chance to stick together and turn ALL of our energies into EDUCATING our friends/families/postmen/grocers/whoever about what this country is facing.
As long as the rEVOLution continues and as Ron Paul has always said: "Spread the message," then we will succeed.
Let's make our passion be one of educating. First ourselves, for how can we expect to educate others if we can't educate ourselves? Then set a goal of being able to express those ideas to everyone from a congressman to a plowman in a way that they can understand and accept.
Just my 2 cents.
I think it was to help Barr and Baldwin.
I think Dr. Paul realized he was being a distraction to Barr's and Baldwin's campaigns.
There was no way Dr. Paul could win, but he needed to make that clear because apparently a lot of supporters were delusional.

That, and more and less
I'm sure he looked at all the pros and cons. We have called him "humble" so it certainly was not about his personal ambition to be president.
I'm sure his schedule also was taking a toll on him and on his wife, Carol. She had a pacemaker installed earlier in the campaign, remember, and he has his hands full with the Campaign for Liberty and his duties in Congress, as well. He added the pros and cons and gave that great rally speech in Texas to announce his next move.
We are free to keep fighting for his nomination and his ideas.
As for RP's supporters being delusional, that's a common condition of the general population and not limited to RP supporters. ;) I, for one, will visualize what I want: Having to choose between 3 or 4 candidates for president who all want a return to small, Constitutional government. Wouldn't that be great? The more, the merrier. (If Ron Paul was one of them, he'd get my vote.)
I also think Barr waited and waited to announce until the last possible moment to enter the race. He did not announce until after almost all the primaries, and I think it was because he was waiting to see how well Ron Paul did and whether he was getting any traction. He did not want to rain on Ron Paul's parade.
With a dozen candidates in the LP nomination race, Barr was certainly taking a big risk waiting so long, and I think that must have been a part of the reason. We know they are friends.
I wish people would stop trying to pick fights with each other. The real enemies are ignorance, foolishness and ambition for power. There's no reason why we can't support ALL the freedom candidates.

OMG

you are so stupid!!!!

No, actually, you don't think.
People here have noticed.

it encourages him. He wants to get responses. Ignore him.
You just did.
""I don’t think that’s very productive," Paul said of a write-in campaign. "They could do it, of course, but in most of the states it won’t count. If they can change the rules in a primary and not count all the votes, imagine what they could do with write-in votes!"" http://www.reason.com/new... http://www.libertymaven.c...
Wolf Blitzer: "What do you think about Barr?"
Ron Paul: "Well I think he's running a very important race, and I'm encouraging him...I hope he does real well."
"Well I think he's running a very important race, and I'm encouraging him. I haven't endorsed him, but he's saying the kind of things I like to be heard and said. I hope he does real well. But, we also have Chuck Baldwin who runs on the Constitutional Party. His views are very very close to mine, and he worked very hard in my campaign. So for me to pick one over the other is not easy. I hope they both together get a lot of votes." http://www.dailypaul.com/...
