Call your Senators right now and urge them to support the Dodd/Feingold filibuster of telecom immunity.
In the past 24 hours people like you have sent over 26,000 emails and made hundreds of calls to Senators Dodd, Feingold and Obama urging them to stop the FISA legislation which gives immunity to phone companies guilty of spying on Americans.
Your calls and emails worked! We just got word that Senators Dodd and Feingold will step up as progressive leaders and filibuster this legislation. Here's part of the joint statement they just released:
'We will oppose efforts to end debate on this bill as long as it provides retroactive immunity for the telecommunications companies.
This filibuster may be the last chance to stop immunity from becoming law and Senators Dodd and Feingold are going to need all the help they can get in preventing their opponents from cutting off debate on this issue. I went to our county convention, and let me tell you one thing I took away from there. They have absolutely no clue why they are going down in November. They think democrats in Nebraska are organizing in a much stronger way just for some out of the blue reason. They think everyone is just in love with democrats right now. That's not exactly the case now is it? Everyone is running away from the republican party because they want to get these jerks out of office. Many know that the democrats are not much better when it comes to destroying the country... but they clearly can see that Bush and his gang of follow the leader congressmen are destroying everything. We absolutely have to vote these pricks out of office. And after dems get elected, we have to vote those pricks out of office too and vote third party. We have to send a strong message. They obviously haven't got it yet.
