What would everyone think about the Campaign for Liberty reaching out to Mary Ruwart?
What would everyone think about the Campaign for Liberty reaching out to Mary Ruwart? I'd like to see it.
I started reading up on her after watching the Libertarian convention. (Personal Note: I would've liked her to be the VP pick.) I see her bridging the gap between (R/L) libertarians, and she would appeal, in huge numbers, to young women?
I'd really like to see CfL get her out on the front-lines. Either as an employed speaker, video commentator, or even back her as a candidate of some kind.
She understand the concepts of freedom, and from what I saw of her at that convention, she's dedicated.

She is considering working for Break the Matrix!

I preferred her as an LP candidate and I'm sorry that
she didn't get the nomination. She's very bright and articulate. Having her work with the CFL would be a positive asset.
Shameless self-bump
+1 for discussion
I heard her on a radio interview
shortly after the (L) nominations. She sounds alright, but no one knows who she is.
I would prefer someone who has name recognition and political experience,as well as the trust of the people.
Someone like Jesse Ventura fits this bill, even if he is not perfect.

She doesn't have to be well known
She doesn't have to be well known... yet. She doesn't have to run as a candidate to be a part of the CfL organization. Send her out as a lecturer, liason, or spokesperson. Here's an idea, make her a "Health and Human Services" chairwoman. This thing can be multi-layered. Get her out in front of the public. I bet she'll inspire a segment of the population that has yet to be reached.
her book
I just loved Healing Our World and her various columns over the years. Not much video was available. I hope we do reach out for her to join and help out.
Good Idea!
She should try to run as a democrat or Republican, and become a US Senator. Anything to raise her profile for 2012. Come 2012, Mary will be the Revolution's next Ron Paul...(just a guess)

Well,
weeks before the LP convention I have propagated a Barr-Ruwart ticket as the ideal on TPW. I read the Barr campaign reached out to her, but unfortunately she
dismissed the possibility. Also a pity Dr. Karen Kwiatkowski did not make herself available. A Barr-Kwiatkowski ticket would have been very good indeed, and helped to attract more women (56% of the population). The CP should also have selected Mary Starret as their VP IMHO. Dr. Ruwart is indeed talented.
Yes her formulation and the whole uproar would have made it a bit more difficult to be nominee. She has said it was one of her worst formulations. She said she wants to return to writing. She she should be speaker and it would be good if she
could be a candidate for congress where there is a huge possibility. I do not know if she would join the GOP easily...will have to see.
I like Karen Kwiatkowski also; especially when she
gets really worked up and uses her acid pen. She's very good.
She will be a guest speaker
She will be a guest speaker at the Las Vegas FreedomFest - http://www.freedomfest.co...

Reaching out
I can't see why ANY libertarian who has a following should be excluded. The more effective spokespeople we have, the better off we will be. There are subtle differences in positions that we can use to sharpen our debate skills. Our "tent" needs to be freaking HUGE so we can fill it up.

I would approve
Perhaps not as a candidate for awhile ( I think the trolls, aka Wayne Allen Root and his accomplices, have caused too much trouble already for her ) but certainly as a leading voice. She cares for Freedom and Liberty in a more caring fashion, and we definitely need to look at the way the State treats us, the way the State treats others outside of it's immediate reach, and the way we view and treat others, from a different perspective than constant war, envy, and spite.
Ruwart would help give people something moral to chew on; even if they don't agree with her.
Her concept of child
Her concept of child pornography is a bit disturbing to say the least. If she were willing to promote it being a states rights issue as it should be then I'd be more prone to think about it a bit more. States should determine at what age people are consensually having sex imo.

I haven't has the chance to read up on that fully.
I haven't had the chance to read up on that fully. Can you please cite some sources to aid in the research?
It's great to
reach out to all kinds of supporters.
However, I have no interest at all in her as a candidate.
In the interview that I heard with her on the radio, she was spectacularly unimpressive.
As for her speaking capabilities, even being a RP freedom supporter, I couldn't get all the way through her interview and turned off the radio before it was over.
And at that point in time, I didn't even know about her child pornography position, but finding that out certainly didn't help to improve my initial opinion of her.
I really don't understand the attraction.
again, another comment of yours I totally agree with
I found her to be dull and not very motivating. Largely unknown also. Besides CFL wants everyone on board. I wonder how much the grassroots will be and feel restricted because its not going to be as easy to "do your own thing" in the CFL as it was in the race for Pres.
"There is but one special interest that we should be working for, and that would solve just about all of our problems, and that is our liberty."Ron Paul
I didn't really see a whole lot of her, but she seemed like a
really good candidate for the Libertarian Party. I was rooting for her to win but it didn't happen. I think she would be good for the CFL.
