This site is going to provide secure meetup group rooms FREE and will be 100% secure to which you will have to invite people into your meetup and no one can see any content inside your meetup.
Why pay $12 to $30 a month for meetup.com when you can have the same type of service FREE. We believe the thousands of dollars given to meetup.com could be better used to support other grassroots projects. This is also owned by grassroots people not big corporations.
What you will see at the moment is a list of states and we will add for you the distriict or county or any other special group you desire to meet your goals.
This will also be a Forum broken down into topic rooms such as 9-11 - Home Schooling - Gardening - Political people - etc.... THAT WILL MODERATED. We will also enforce the rule to stay on topic as to not deter the information someone is providing.
This is designed to bring everyone together in one spot so that we do not have to visit 150 different sites to get our information and share ideas.
I have said for months that if we do not find some way to come together and combine our efforts and start working together we will lose the momentum that has been built. We have to present the platform of Dr. Ron Paul and hope people listen and join us so we can grow or numbers which is why Ron Paul's name is not in the forum title as to not isolate anyone although the campaign for liberty is the foundation of this site.
I have also said that we must start inviting in new people from all walks of life and this includes Mccain, Obama, Clinton, Barr, Baldwin, Gravel etc.... and provide them information and hope they join us so the movement will grow and that means we have to start inviting people that we may disagree with.
Our numbers are one of the most valuable tools and we must start to grow in numbers to be successful. The more of us there are the better.
This should also stop the bickering to some degree for If you don;t agree with a topic don't visit that portion of the forum and don't discourage people that disagee with you or vice versa and let the people decide based on the informatoon that is on the forum and meetup.
This is in no way to compete with Dailypaul and we encourage everyone to continue to stay here for this site is the foundation of information for the revolution and we are going to add a banner for Dailypaul on the new meetup site and will promote and raise money for Dailypaul. We also believe this is a way to end some of the bickering to which people do here because there is a topic they may not like in dailypaul.
The forums are in complete operation although we are still working on some graphics and content rooms. The meetups will launch Monday.
If you want a room added post it in general forums and we will add it so long as it is not something illegal or immoral and will be up to the admins to approve.
Come in and take a look around and see what we have been working on to better expand the movement.

This is not to replace DP or RPF it is simply an alternative to meetup.com that is free! My local group has gone off of meetup because it does cost and we have transitioned to C4L and we will be needing a group site like this that is free. I will bring it up at our next Campaign for Liberty meeting!
Paulwagon.com is an even better free replacement of Meetup
Hey, your site is a forum that has states as labels. Check out www.paulwagon.com for user functionality. Users can create a group, post events to a calendar and chat in the forum. It just started up so it's bare. Join, invite your friends from other groups, and let's do this right!

This meetup is not done yet. We wanted to launch Yesterday but were unable to do so. What it will be is a free private meetup.com type site to where people will not have to pay for their meetup groups and will be 100% secure by grassroots people.
Why should people pay a big company for something we can provide for free that is owned and run by grassroots people? that 30k plus a month could be better served on projects that benefit the movement. We are doing the best we can as fast as we can to help.
We hope to have it complete this week but many of us are working hard on the march and that is more importnt right now.
There will be an update when it is done and then you will see the value of it.

It has all of our projects listed with their own forums, you can keep track of your various pledges/participation, subscribe/unsubscribe from the mailing lists, all in one place.
It's pretty cool.
And I think I read on the CampaignForLiberty site they are planning to do meetup groups too.
I think it's a great idea, but agree with some of the others that starting up yet another site that looks to be duplicating the efforts of these existing sites might be too much. Have you investigated joining forces with one of the established sites to see if you can work together?

I do not believe it is quite the same thing. BTM hosts various official campaigns. I think what this site intends to accommodate is locals doing their local thing. Scheduling events outside the rEVOLution that we can interject our presence.
For example if you Google "freedom festival" You can find one in almost every state. These could be potential forums for outreach that have no affiliation to the movement but are hosted by entities that hopefully will be receptive to our cause.
Another might be local car shows or fairs. Many car shows now exhibit alt-fuel and electric cars with local car associations trying to spread the message that we don't have to pay high prices for gas or at least asking why we don't have more of these options. These are golden opportunities to speak with people about their issues, on their turf.
I did this yesterday at a car show I stumbled onto. You'd be surprised how many people love the idea of alt-fuel cars, but have no idea why they aren't more readily available and affordable. A lot of these people are pushing green initiatives because Owl Gore told them to. They don't really know what the solutions are they just want something. If we cannot provide that something they will have someone else's solution regardless. It is our job to enlighten them with real solutions and alert them to the real dangers. Like "cap-n-trade".

Good luck to you with this. Frankly, I'm pulled in too many directions now trying to keep up with the latest RP Republic news... In my opinion, there are way too many sites now to effectively corral and focus our efforts. Example... if you support Barack Obama, you know there is an information clearinghouse run by his staff. Where is our information clearinghouse? We are diffusing and weakening our focus with too many web sites (in addition to having a pool of supporters who sometimes act like a tenement apartment full of kittens).
I'd get behind BreakTheMatrix.com or RonPaul2008.com or even CampaignForLiberty.com ... but dammit, I haven't got the time to follow every one of these sites and expect to be able to live a life and make a living.
Somebody needs to get this organized and at least give supporters the semblance of order amidst all of the scarcely contained chaos.
I've got no time nor interest in joining even one more ANYTHING at this point.

I know how you feel and
I know how you feel and you're right. But i think this project aims to corral the focus of the many different projects within the movement. Many people have pet projects that are related to the cause but often marginalized within the community itself. Something the movement has always needed was a central conduit for the exchange of ideas at the local level that ties in with the national scene. IMO meet-ups were good but lack-luster in this department. While i still receive updates from my meet-ups. I rarely have time to participate in their activities due to scheduling issues.
One thing is for sure about this project though and that is if no one joins it will never be viable. You can't share information with a non-community. I'd say that even if you do not have time to invest at least join and be counted. When the numbers go up and the project gains viability it will pick up momentum.
