For those of you who REALLY WANT DESIRE AND NEED TO HAVE A FREE NATION....Nevada has set a landmark in the halls of history.....Today they have reconvened and remade the NEVADA GOP...and even as I am posting this they are electing delegates to the NATIONAL CONVENTION....(mostly, if not all, Ron Paul delegates) THIS WILL COUNT TOWARDS RON PAUL WINNING THE STATE OF NEVADA....with will allow them to NOMINATE HIM FROM THE FLOOR which is what this whole thing is really all about. Once he has a state that he legally wins(ie gets the majority of delegates for that state) He can then be nominated for President at the National Republican Convention. THIS MEANS THIS CAMPAIGN IS IN FULL GEAR!!!!!
Here is a bit of information on how they are doing this legally....
They did not have a quorum based on the old convention, but that convention has been invalidated due to rule breaking.(see below in bold) So now they have a new quorum with full attendance.Which means it is fully legal and shall withstand the scrutiny of legal challenges that may come!!!!
There is no "former" convention, the convention NEVER recessed. The convention has always been going on. Under RONR (10th. Ed.) sec. 20, p. 222, ln. 30,
"A recess is a short intermission in the assembly's proceedings, commonly only of a few minutes, which does not close the meeting and after which business will immediately be resumed at exactly the point where it was interrupted."
Thus, by definition, a recess can never be used to close a meeting. Under RONR, there are two types of recess: (1) a privileged motion to recess, requiring a majority vote, or (2) a unilateral recess being declared by the chair if it was provided for in the agenda or program. On April 26th, a RECESS was not provided for in the program or agenda (even though the agenda on April 26th. may have provided for ADJOURNMENT at a particular time, completely different from a recess).
Thus, the purported recess on April 26th. would have been valid ONLY if a motion to recess was made and seconded by the convention delegates, and the motion was voted on by a majority of delegates. Even then, however, the recess could not have been used to close the meeting.
For this reason shown above they now have a new quorum that is roughly 300 (a bit more) delegates. And now business is taking place with full legality and force of law behind them. WE THE PEOPLE SHALL AND WILL PREVAIL!!!!!

Couple things, please read.
I am assuming that this was held just in case the republican party decided at the last minute to cancel the one in July.
Will the delegates that supported this convention still be supporting the one in July?
I think it would be great to claim victory any way one decides to slice it.
Hopefully this was fully discussed at the June Convention.
Anybody have these answers.

This was held because
it had become obvious that the NV GOP had no intention of holding a reconvene at all. Their responsibility is only to set the date and venue and call the convention to order. After a chair is elected and the delegates credentialed, the convention becomes the responsibility of the delegates and all business must be transacted in a parlimentarian manner...motion, second, vote, etc. The NV GOP was asked repeated for a date and when their very tardy letter of intent comes it, it is little more than a questionaire to see who would attend on July 26th....not that this is definitely the date and be there...but also asking who would rather do a mail-in ballot, which by the way is illegal. To participate in the July 26th date, one had to send in $35 along with an rsvp to cover the cost of "extra security" instilling fear in possible attendees. So, let's see, if I choose the still uncertain 26th date, I need to pay more to go, and I might be involved in some sort of violence...or I could just pay 42cents for a stamp. But do you see the holes in the plan? If a convention reconvene is more than 90 days out it becomes a new convention which is illegal, as well.
So, the delegates took the initiative, which is their right, and planned and executed their own convention. It was brilliant, no loopholes, every question answered, transparent...see election results at www.nevadagopconvention.c..., all cool, calm, and all objections met. I would expect it to be contested by the NV GOP, but folks, if you were a delegate and you chose to be derelict in your duty as a delegate, you missed a beautiful convention and you lost your vote.

Everybody needs to be very clear about the "convention" on July 26th. The media is heavily reporting this to be the "official" date. Every Nevada State delegate has received a letter in the mail asking them to RSVP and include a check of $35.00 to cover additional security! Yes, they want $35.00 just to RSVP so that they can judge wether or not there will even be a quorum on July 26th. This is not a good start in generating enthusiasm if you know what I mean.
THEN - they actually offer a checkbox to see if you'd prefer a mail-in ballot instead. A mail-in ballot has already been proven highly illegal according to all rules. Don't count on anything EVER happening on July 26th.

The bottom line
The "official" convention is closed....there will be no other delegates elected on July 26th because there will be no July 26th gatheringm imo. At the Delegates Convention we voted to make it the only convention and that when this convention closed at the end of the ballot count, the convention was closed. There cannot be 2 conventions in one year. So, my guess is the NV GOP...which is being very quiet right now as is "their" media...will submit their original slate of nominees created by some Nomination Committee (this slate was voted out and replaced by a 2/3rd vote by all present to be replaced by nominees to come from the floor)...which has been their intention all along. Both sets of delegates, and there might be a very limited overlap, will go to the Convention and there is where the fun starts up again. Mike Weber has assured us that he will take this all the way to National Convention level. Lots of unfortunate "mistakes" by the NV GOP will be brought to the floor - made public - would be my guess. Now, the whole thing goes even beyond my rather flourishing imagination. Anyone?

Since it will not be a real convention, it should not jeapardize their status to attend and participate.
Not sure if ignoring July (If it even happens), is the way to go.
But I am sure Mr. Weber is better informed than I.

It is still in the works and the last I checked late last week the papers had very likely not been served due to adding more defendants (heh heh).. They might have been served today but very likely this week. I'm sure these people know since it was no secret. (I think the tactic is to make them sweat) but I still wish I could be there when they are served.

FYI: The defendants named in
FYI: The defendants named in this suit will NOT be the Republican party but prominent members of the shenanigans that took place at the Wa state convention. The reason for this was decided and thought out by the legal team because it will be easier to sue individuals.

Gave a very early AM report today on what happened at the Convention, based upon some quote from an attorney who says what the NV GOP did at the April 26th event had illegal elements which made it possible for the delegates to act last Saturday...or words to that effect, it was the first thing I heard upon awakening. Usually KOH repeats such reports in the AM...maybe someone can try to record for all? Anyway, Rick Worthington at KOH is quite good at making sure accurate reports are given out about our situation and has even interviewed Wayne Terhune.
I'll make sure to send him a little kudos note this morning.

The State Party is sure to say that we weren't legit, so that is to be expected . . . HOWEVER the credential report from the April convention was never adopted properly, so actually, THEY never really had a quorum . . .
BUT WE DID IT RIGHT, BY THE BOOK. So we had a quorum, business was conducted, and the Nevada State Republican Convention is now legally closed.

How did you determine that you had a quorum? It sounds like it doesn't matter how many people were there... that any amount would have been a quorum. 300... 35... 2...

How A Quorum Works
I'm no expert, but I believe it works this way:
You have a credentials report at the start of the meeting stating how many delegates have checked in and been "seated." That number fluctuates throughout the convention as delegates check in and check out, and is updated periodically.
If somebody can't be there for a period of time, they can check out and the delegation can seat an alternate to cover for them while they're gone.
The problem comes when delegates leave without checking out. That's what the McCain folks did. All the percentages used to calculate a majority are based on the total number the credentials committee has on their books, so when people leave without checking out, you can't get a big enough number to do anything, and if the number in the room drops below a certain point, you don't have a quorum.
In this case, it sounds like the convention was convened or re-convened using the actual number present as the total number, and basing the quorum on that number. For the procedural reasons talked about, they invalidated the previous credentials committee numbers.
I rather imagine that the organizers of this knew they would have a quorum no matter how many showed up, but obviously, the bigger the number the better when it comes to having credibility.

Good input... Part of the equation is also the fact that the NV GOP would not release the delegates list and that is where they made a major mistake. Someone also brought up that they had heard that the party asked for $10,000 for the list...if true this would, I believe, amount to an attempt at extortion. I do not know that as a fact, by the way.
They made several mistakes, but, as usually happens in life, when you are not transparent and above board and think your ego/power trumps right....you lose. This was the best thought-out, most accurately and legally choreographed event one can imagine. Motivation can be a huge benefit and the delegates want their rights. I got a cute political button at the Convention: "No, you can't have my rights, I'm still using them." Another great little button is "It's my party - I'll convene if I want to."
