Where to park in DC for the march?

Well, my roommate and I have the time and money to drive 7 hours to the march, but....where should we park? We plan on staying the day and then sleeping in the car and leaving in the morning.
Anyone from DC know where we could park during the rally and be able to get to the rally by foot?
Maybe we could spend the night in a local walmart parking lot?
We cant afford a hotel. Any suggestions would be helpful.

We have decided to drive to a metro station in maryland and park there, then ride into DC.
I highly suggest you get to
I highly suggest you get to D.C. as early as possible! I went to the 4/15 rally and it took us 30 minutes to park. Needless to say, I missed Ron Paul speak... If you can, just spring for the parking garages. It may cost you but it will save you in time! Not to mention that it is very easy to get lost in D.C.
I drove to D.C. on tax day
and parked at Union Station only a few blocks N.E. of the Capitol.
They have a faily large parking garage.

Question:
I plan on riding down from northern NJ for and make it a day trip. What Metro station off I-95 would be the best to park at and get a train to Union Station?
What station would be best to park a motorcycle for the day?

Take 495 south/east at 95/ 495 split. Kenelworth ave or Balt/wash parkway to Rt193 in greenbelt travel west to metro station.

Best to park outside and take mass transit in.
My advice is to park at one of the train stations outside the

Unless you really know the driving in DC, save yourself some big hassles and take the metro.
I suggest somewhere out Route 66 at a metro stop, then find a walmart near there for car camping.
Or if driving in from the north, take the metro from the Bethesda area.
Smithsonian station
The best station to get to the march would be the Smithsonian station. It's on the blue and orange lines.

If you are driving into downtown DC for the march, your best bet for parking is probably Union Station.

It's a good suggestion to park and ride Metro in. Crashing in your car in DC could get you that old tap on the window at 4:00AM. You might consider staying in a campground overnight. There's also some really cheap places to crash in DC that most people don't know about.
