I'm Confused about Nevada, Can someone explain and set my fears aside?
I know this is probably going to piss people off, so please understand, it's not meant to.... I don't know the whole situation, so I'd appreciate anyone who can explain/answer my questions/concerns.... However, I would hate for us all to get overexcited and thus lose focus on the greater task at hand (the Campaign for Liberty).... Besides, we're going to need the Campaign for Liberty and a strong effort with it now if a miracle occurs and Ron Paul somehow wins the nomination....
First of all, Congratulations to everyone in Nevada. It's great that you were able to pull off your convention and finish what the party was pathetically and incompetently unable to....
However, I have a few questions and concerns.
1. I heard that you guys met a quorum, but you only had something like 370 delegates? Isn't a quorum around 670?
2. Whether your convention was legal or not is sort of irrelevant.... The state party ended the first convention illegally and broke the rules, so even if you're in the right, who's to say they're going to start following the rules now and let you have this?
I don't mean to be a negative Nancy.... but this is what I'm afraid of:
-the cards are stacked against us. The RNC and state party probably will not honor this convention or the delegates (I'm afraid of what they'll do to punish us.... what if they take away delegates or something? We've already seen that they don't play fair).
-we need the majority of 5 states, and right now we don't even necessarily have one.
-delegates who are party elites/McCain supporters will not change their votes.
-the party itself will not allow McCain to be denied the nomination as long as he continues as the candidate.
Basically, the way I see it, we're going to need a miracle if we want the nomination. No way will the party take the nomination from McCain as long as he remains in the race.... so something has to happen to him.... he has to die, drop out (maybe for health reasons, or waking up to reality that he's going to lose). We need some situation where McCain is taken out of the picture and the slate is cleaned and we can have an even playing field. That's the only way we're ever going to have a shot. To be honest, we have no power over something like that happening. If it's meant to be, then it'll happen.
Let's focus on spreading the message and campaigning right now. If the miracle happens and Ron gets the nomination he'll need a strong base to stand a chance. So we need to build that base by working hard for the Campaign for Liberty. And, if it doesn't happen, at least we will have spread the message even further.
We should also continue to educate and reach out to the delegates (those DVDs/info packets sound like a good idea)....
And of course, give it our best at all the conventions....
But, let's keep our eye on the ball and not go crazy over Nevada... I congratulate everyone out there, but unfortunately, I fear your efforts may have been in vain.... You did your best, and you did great and we're all appreciative, but we haven't won yet, and we still have to fight the state party/RNC.... so just don't get your hopes up, if we do, we're likely to stumble, and if we stumble, we'll be helpless and unable to act when that miracle in St. Paul comes.

No matter what, RP and if
No matter what, RP and if you are an RP supporter has asked all credentialed delegates to continue to the National convention. So, that is what you need to do. If you can make it to his rally on July 12 and if you can make it to his book signing on Sept 1, 2008, and then make it to the rally on Sept. 2, 2008.
Otherwise keep spreading the message of freedom and stop spreading the message of negativity or confusion.
We need you to focus on what this cause is really about and STOP putting any doubt out there about anything, This road is long and sometimes frustrating, but set the frustration aside and focus on the task at hand.
Even when RP takes office the road is long, our job is not done. They have our country in a mess and it is going to take a lot more to fix it than getting RP in the White House.
Nevada has no efforts in vain. They worked hard, canvassing, rallying, writing, spreading this message. I just met someone who had not heard of Paul until February. I still am meeting people who never heard of him. Efforts in vain...hog-wash! We have to Unite and CHANGE our governement from the bottom up Nevada is doing just that! Start it in your state....pretty soon it will be in the entire nation.
Don't worry about it
NV has it under control. Just get organized where you are and take local positions with other RP supporters.
Action will help allay your fears.
Wow!
I would hate to read one of your posts where you WANTED to be negative Nancy.
It's lucky for those of us who read this that you were NOT wanting to be negative huh?
haha, hey I'm not saying we
haha, hey I'm not saying we shouldn't try, or there isn't hope that a miracle could occur... In fact, I'm one of the crazies who is actually expecting a miracle to occur.... I just don't want us to lose our primary objective, which is campaigning for the message.....
Even though I may have come off as negative, I think I being was rather logical.
I'm still waiting for someone to explain how the results of this convention are going to be honored and we're going to get the delegates.
