Divide and conquer - but worse, we are doing it to ourselves!
I'm no newbie to this movement. I've been an LP member since 92, ran for Congress twice, even having my pic in "The Hill" while campaigning, and debated two congressmen close to 20 times in those two races. For the first time in my life, I reg. as an R and ran for delegate, and my wife and I gave up almost a week and went up to NH in January for Ron Paul.
I'm only saying that as I hope what I say might carry a small amount of weight. Its not that my opinion is not any better than anyone else's, but I've been around the block a few times when it comes to playing these political games.
On this site now all I see is dissent, name calling... he's a troll... traitor, and whatnot. All that while the ship sink a little further.
Here are the facts as I see them. RP is NOT going to be the Republican nominee. I wish he were but wishing gets me nothing. We all tried, but we have to face reality, we did not win.
As for Barr, many of my fellow LP members, who couldn't be bothered going to the convention, are outraged. How dare he "take over" our party is their cry. Its "Our party" and yet you couldn't be bothered to attend? Agree or disagree it was a strategic move and a risky one, but it was decided and we (LP members) have to live with it. For the record, I didn't go to the convention this year so I have ZERO right to complain. But that being said I understand the reason why he got the nom. as many people I known for years did go and voted for Barr.
Baldwin, well he says some good things, but it seems that those who are asking people to vote for him, are doing it as a vote against Barr. That would be fine but many of these people say they are Libertarians and Baldwin is no Libertarian either.
And of course we have the write-in folks. I'm afraid that most of you have no idea how that works, how its been outlawed in several states - yes there are states where you can not do a write-in. In addition, you do NOT vote for President, you vote for electors or don't you know that? Go online and see Pa' petitions for example, you see the name's of the LP's electors and its Presidential candidate. The presidential name gets on the ballot but you are really voting for the electors. Do you understand what that means as it relates to a write-in? If you don't you should not be advocating a write-in vote as you don't know what you are talking about. That being said, some people do understand and want to do it anyhow out of principle, the same goes for people who want to write-in NOTA.
All of this and Obama and McSame talk nonsense while the boat sinks further. They don't need to divide and conquer us, we are doing a fine job of it ourselves!
So here it what I propose, let agree to disagree on strategy. I'll do what I will do politically, and you do what you will do. Some of us will do writ-ins, some of us will vote for Baldwin or Barr, some will even hold out for hope a miracle in St. Paul. But as for this site, why can't we focus on the common issues, making people aware that we are sinking? And that there is one thing we all should have in common, that no one votes for McSame or Obama. Whatever happens, we should make it that which ever one of them wins, they should win with the smallest % of the vote in history. Would it be great to see one of them win (assuming we have to have one of them win) with only 37% of the vote or something like that?
That should be our common goal.

I couldn't disagree with you more.

Actually, no, it wouldn't be 'great' as you put it to see any of those jackasses win. Seeing McCain, Obama, Barr, or any of those other traitors in the highest office of our country would be a staggering blow, just four more years of exactly the same shit we've become so accustomed to.
We need to collectively say "NO MORE!!!" in the loudest voice possible, and no longer vote one way or another simply to play margins.
So, thanks for your opinion, but I'll vote for the candidate I feel will best defend our Constitution, our country, and us. I'm not going to throw my vote away ever again.
Well said. Now lets see how
Well said. Now lets see how long it takes for a Barr basher or write-in Paul worshiper to point the finger at someone else.

I agree
we have a small window of opportunity to continue educating people as to what is happening. Peace
Outstanding comments and insight sir...
....and I thank you for your, what should be, common sense remarks. I personally was hoping that we could all come to a consensus on this issue, in order to use our numbers to their utmost potential. I pledge that I will not vote for, either or any of, the establishment candidates. Come on folks....please grab a bucket and start bailing water before we sink ourselves. Thanks again for taking the time and attempting to patch the hull.

Thank you!
I pray we can all agree on the need to avoid voting for the lesser of two evils.

You hit the nail on the head. Vote for whoever you want to in the general. We all understand Paul is the only one the unites us. Our voting strength may be divided this election but we will make a difference locally for years to come.
I can see all points of view for wanting for vote for any of the candidates. I personally have not decided this early.
