Iran threatens to shut down oil lanes if attacked
So the LA Times is Reporting:
output"Iran will definitely act to impose control on the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz," through which 17 million barrels of oil passes each day.
"After this action, the oil price will rise very considerably and this is among the factors deterring the enemies," he said.

I have an analogy why we aren't going for alternatives
I work at a company that talks about efficiency and doing things smarter and with less time billed. It's a bureaucracy. The solutions and the streamlining of the business are known and staring us in the face. After ten years, they won't just follow the clear path. They don't want to because its the status quo at it's finest. Steamlining our bureaucracy would only mean slimming down the son of a bitch and losing a huge fraction of revenue. What bureaucracy does this? So the powers will not make the sincere steps.
Same with oil. We have been talking alternatives for how long? The alternatives are right there for the taking. But who's taking? Who are the masters that are really taking charge for bringing alternatives? They will not step up until god knows when. Oil is a cash cow for the big powers in this world. Let's not forget that although we don't have an ounce of gold to back our fiat, WE HAVE OIL. That's right, do not forget the cute little setup we have where you need US dollars to buy oil anywhere in the world. Through this little side deal made with winks nods and the not so subtle threat of force (Iran is calling our cards by selling oil without US dollars involved at all).
So our whole economy and our insane materialism and consumption is massively bolstered by this little oil game. The masters will not give up this game easily because every American is entangled in it from birth. Our status, you and me relies on this game.
You and I would be willing to give up everything we own to play an honest game and have our Constitutional freedoms and little else. Unfortunately, I don't see our fellow Americans facing the disease. They will follow propoganda as you well know.
Does anyone see how we are all talk and no action on the alternative energy because oil is still a great game for the powers and you and me from the standard of living we are milking out of it?
Haven't you heard?
"We have been talking alternatives for how long? The alternatives are right there for the taking. But who's taking?"
We have to quit Solar Power for two years, so that we can see what the environmental (Environmental = Big Oil Pocketbooks?) impact is. You know suns rays being caught and changed to electrical power is rough on those endangered South West Dung Beetles. Sorry there's no such thing, but you get my point. :O) Have a great day all!
yep.
i wholeheartedly agree.
Oil
Even without alternative fuel,we have a problem here we have restrictions against drilling and refining oil in this country yet we allow other counties to drill offshore.Something is so wrong with this,it's regulated to the point we can buy foreign oil easier than we can produce our own fuel. There is huge amounts of oil here that could be used without even drilling anymore.Any drilling we do now like (Alaska) would not be a benefit in the short term,it would take many years because we have to many refining restrictions. We left the horse and buggy long before I was born, and time has made the distance to travel to a place of employment greater and greater so to do without transportation is not a good assumption (to do without transportation is to do without employment). You do have a point though I'm a mechanic and my job entails working on combustion engines, but I could work on them no matter what fuel they use. When the situation gets bad enough individuals not corporations will find alternatives.

US says won't allow Iran to shut key Gulf oil route
The commander of the US navy's Fifth Fleet warned on Monday that the United States will not allow Iran to shut the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil supply route in the Gulf.
"They will not close it... They will not be allowed to close it," Vice-Admiral Kevin J. Cosgriff said at a press conference in Bahrain, where the Fifth Fleet is based.
His remarks followed comments by the chief of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards who issued a new warning last week against any attack against the country over its controversial nuclear drive.
"It is natural that when a country is attacked it uses all of its capabilities against the enemy, and definitely our control of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz would be one of our actions," Jafari said.
The strait between Iran and Oman is a vital conduit for energy supplies, with as much as 40 percent of the world's crude oil from Gulf oil producers passing through the waterway.
There have been several confrontations between Iranian and US vessels in the Gulf this year.
Iran has defied UN sanctions and international demands by pressing ahead with its disputed uranium enrichment programme, which both Washington and Israel fear could be used to build a nuclear weapon.
Tehran, a leading member of the oil cartel OPEC, denies wanting the bomb, and says its nuclear ambitions extend only to generating electricity for a growing population.

Some one should tell him,
Some one should tell him, tuff shit you don't own it.
I don't blame
Iran I would close it down, if someone attacked me. Looks like the spin masters are at it. Peace
Fuel
There was a post yesterday or so about using Hemp for fuel, and someone had a Energy Company, that might have a means to manufacture it.This could be a worthwhile avenue to explore as a alternative fuel,it could be a cash crop for farming and have textile, and other uses. And it isn't your food supply (like corn) .Also I had commented on the prospects of utilizing methane produced in landfills,as trash decomposes it gives off methane gas and landfills just burn it off as a waste product. But in large cities there is massive amounts of trash and a potential for massive amounts of methane, this can be burned in normal gasoline cars with a little modification (like for LP gas). There are alternitives to being chained by the politics of oil.
Um...
It's illegal to grow hemp in the US. It looks like marijuana. 50 years ago, there wasn't good enough technology to have Hemp legal and Marijuana illegal, so they illegalized both.
Hemp is good for the soil, reduces pesticide 'needs' for nearby crops, and is a really versatile crop. you can make biodegradeable, non-petroleum-based plastics, rope, the paper to write the constitution on, the seeds are edible, and much more.
Lindsey Williams
Told us that oil was the method chosen to control the world. Everything he has told us has come to pass. We could have been on an alternative energy method decades ago. It will never happen folks.
Did you know that you can even burn salt water for fuel? The most abundant resource on the planet, yet we choose to continue to murder people for no reason.

we're getting there...
india has the air car now.
japan has the water car now.
southern california is going to have the hydrogen fuel (i believe it is this one) cell by honda, coming to them soon.
They're here now
They've just installed hydrogen "pumps" in certain areas of CA. Honda and Chevrolet, and also another one...BMW, I think?...have these hydrogen fuel cell cars available to a limited audience. One may only lease these, as these limited editions are currently too expensive for purchase, and one has to go through major hoops to qualify, including living in certain geographic areas.
salt water burning
Brad: Indeed, salt water can be burned. However, a certain radio frequency has to be focused on the salt water in order for the burning to occur. With regards to conservation of energy, energy from the radio frequency source breaks the bonds of the compound into its components: hydrogen, oxygen, and salt. Although, this process could make breakthroughs in areas of desalination or production of hydrogen, we will never make be pouring salt water into our cars. It likely takes more energy to separate the hydrogen than burning it accomplishes. However, green energy like solar or wind could power radio frequencies generates to separate hydrogen for automobiles. Remember, if somethings doesn't follow the laws of thermodynamics and conservation of energy, its probably not true. Cool stuff though-peace
Bio Diesel
Reliance on gas is one of the critical points that could cripple our (the patriots within this country) efforts to defend liberty. Anyone interested in assessing the feasibility of getting bio diesel operations going, please keep me in mind. Just contact me via my blog, http://www.humanityoverco....
