Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty website is fizzing out on sign ups.
Only 66,000. Thats about 1000 tops in the past 5 days. You mean to tell me there are only 66,000 of us that give a crap anymore? Get off your ass and register or send it around to your meetups and/or fellow RP supporters. At this rate, there is no chance of making 100,000 by September. I guess many were only in it for the fun part of the ride but not the long haul. That doesn't surprise me I guess.
I am disappointed. There should have been 100,000 members in the first week with all the support we had.

i have pointed out
Fortune Favors the Bold
it seems pointless to sign people up just to have "numbers" The CFL should be a list of people who are willing to be active volunteers.
The numbers will go up after
The numbers will go up after the July 12 rally in Washington.
SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States
Well everytime we have made
Well everytime we have made a site to for people to register to donate for money bombs only about 30-50k did, but then about twice as much of those people donated and ended up with $6 million in one day, which beat a previous record that we made of about $4 million in a day, I think (only about 15,000 people registered but many more donated). I think 66k people signed up is the highest so far.
Get the MySpace Site Active
I have made this comment on about 3 posts now....
perhaps because the Campaign doesn't officially start until Sept 2
who knows?
I have emailed them asking about their myspace site... no reply -
Point being - if this site was active - alot of us have myspace sites
we can list the CFL on our home pages and send out bulletins or
invitations to encourage people to go check it out - in hopes to get
more join.
I think it could be a great way to build numbers -
but last I checked - their myspace has still not added folks or gone live...
Remember, there are graphic buttons available for YOUR use!
Those of you having difficulties getting onto the site, have you advised the CFL directly so that they are apprised of the technical issues?
I just upgraded to Firefox 3.0, and everything on the CFL site works fine. Although the CFL logo on the main page only seems buggy today; whether that's a result of my upgrade or some other cause, I don't know.
Now, re: spreading the message -- one good way to help get the word out is to visit their Community Page. It has buttons on it that you can grab and post on your blogs, MySpace, and other websites -- heck, put it in your email signature line, if that works with your email system (ooooooh, I just thought of that, and now I think I'll do that with my own email account!!). The Community Page has available for YOUR use:
- The large Flash button that has the eagle and membership count and such (the same large one you see on the CFL home page)
- A smaller version of that without the eagle and capitol building graphics
- A block of html code that will put the sign-up form on your own page
There is also a spot on the Community Page from which you can directly email friends and family with a pre-set message (editable) to invite them to join the CFL.
Of course, the good, old-fashioned methods seem to work well, too! :)
CFL site basically excludes non-technical users
Say that you recommend the CFL site to me and I visit it.
Will I ever try it again, if the first time I visit, the site does not work with my computer system *at all* (and I don't even know that's the issue)?
Even if people are technical enough to install new programs themselves, do busy users have the time or inclination to do so *just to visit a new site*?
Are users really expected to install/use Firefox *just to visit a single site*?
Are users really required to upgrade Flash, but first time visitors are not notified of that system requirement, they are not given the link to get it, and they do not receive instructions relating to the requisite Uninstall before installing the newest release?
It is the site design that is eliminating many possible members.
Not only that, but the subscription process does not have the option of not having your actual name/city/state display that was available on RP2008 for donations.
Would you want your kids publicly posting that type of information?
What a great way for spammers to develop name/city/state lists to *sell*!
Do people need to create a "throwaway" e-mail address, just to safely subscribe?
Look at the ratio of guests vs. those signed in on DP - the only reason to sign in/sign up is if the person wishes to post.
So, why would occasional visitors subscribe to CFL?
Note: For those of you having problems with the "security code" entry, make sure to enter upper/lower case correctly, as well. Just a suggestion (Unix servers are case-sensitive.)
Ya know what else is weird?
Your post is dated July 3rd and my comments are dated a day before that... I am also noting this in hopes of keeping this post up there so that others who are having difficulty signing up will know to try signing through firefox.

It is technical issues...
I waited to sign up, to be honest, I wanted to be the 100,000th person to sign up (lol) but then I became anxious and could wait no longer. I signed up TODAY, I was signed in on aol and after four attempts it still was not allowing me to and said the security code was invalid. Then I went on through mozilla firefox and got it on the first try.

CFL site technical issues and e-mail notification failures?
Contributing factor #1:
Unless the CFL site has been changed since I reported technical issues, the CFL site requires the recent, most current Flash upgrade or the subscription process/navigation links don't work at all (on XP w/IE6, at least).
That also means the subscription area and the navigation block of the CFL site will not work at all with older computers prior to XP per the Flash system requirements.
On the flip side, I believe that the recent Flash upgrade may not work with "devices", either.
YouTube had the link for the required Flash upgrade. I believe that is when the CFL site "broke" for me.
It turned out that there is an 04/08 Flash UNINSTALL that must be run first, or the Flash upgrade may fail.
Contributing factor #2:
As a donor to RP2008 with two different e-mail addresses (both Yahoo ones), I routinely received duplicates of all HQ e-mails, the last one with a date of 4/30/08.
Yet, I never received any notification, whatsoever, via e-mail from HQ or from CFL about the major changes.
If it weren't for DP and RPFs, I would not have known:
1. About the Texas speech,
2. About the ending of the campaign, or
3. About the beginning of the CFL.
How many other donors have no clue that the campaign was ended or that CFL exists with subscriptions?
Exactly what e-mail list(s) were used for the June 13th e-mail from CFL?
Was an e-mail sent out to the entire HQ distribution list with many failures or was the HQ list not even used (due to possible legal reasons)?
You might want to look into how many e-mails were actually sent out for the June 13th e-mail as a percentage of the HQ distribution list (that has duplicates like mine.)
Also, there are/were many [State]4RP Yahoo groups where that June 13th e-mail was never mailed to, either. I still receive the weekly "Send Ron Paul $100 on WED. " e-mail, so the groups are still "active".
My guess is that there is a huge group of supporters who know nothing about CFL. And those that do may not have computers that are compatible with the CFL site requirements.
Im having trouble !
Im having trouble signing up,every time I put in the pass numbers it says invalid entry.
No big deal. That's already a lot of people, in my view.
I think that's enough.

I've Met Too Many RP Supporters
who are unsociable non-canvassers and care only about their gun and private property fetishes. But, Ron Paul cares more about states' rights than forcing a libertarian utopia on the people.
Do you think Ron Paul knows about Direct Representation?

Already registered,
and guess what, How can we get more people if we don't spread the site link. Are we all just armchair quarterbacks? I don't think so, but money talks and BS walks. We need videos on youtube, e-mails, mentions in myspace and facebook, letters to the editor, etc.
And by the way, I don't see too much support for the July 12th D.C. march.
This is the perfect time to march on Washington, the economy is collapsing and a war with Iran is almost a certainty.
If this effort fails, then its gonna be every man for himself.
Right you are! But I told a
Right you are! But I told a really neat person the other day, with a big internet following and he went and joined. Now, if and IF this site keeps its mission and becomes a bit more non-partisan, maybe he would promote it..?
We just have to tell everyone we come into contact with.
True, hope he adds this to
