Open Revolt at BarackObama .com Takes Top Position
Earlier today, I was surprised to see that the grassroots group at BarackObama.com that opposes the FISA Amendments Act had reached ten thousand members. I didn’t imagine at the time what is about to happen. By the time we wake up tomorrow morning, this insurgent group of Obama activists who are now opposing Barack Obama’s embrace of the FISA Amendments Act will be the largest grassroots group on BarackObama.com.
This group is in open rebellion against Barack Obama’s campaign leadership. They’re not just following along like good little sheep. They’re talking back, loudly, to power.
I wonder if Barack Obama is listening, or if he has merely decided to push the earplugs in a little deeper.

Global Poverty Act/ S2433
James Goodin
some one needs to tell the Obama people who are oposing FISA that the Global Poverty Act which he is the sponsor of in the senate is much worse and needs to be vigorously opposed. it gives up our sovereignty and puts us under a direct UN tax and most importantly supercedes the Constition as the "Law of the Land". To vote for this bill/ S2433 is a violatiojn of the congressional oath of office. I would hope that none of us, democrat or republican want this kind of "change". I am not able to communicate by typing very quickly or well or computer savy so would greatly appreciate if someone could get this news to the anti fisa people in Obama's camp.
Thank you.

Dont you find it suspicious
Dont you find it suspicious that Obama starts moving to the middle right after he had that secret "meeting". Which just so happened to take place the same time as the Bilderberg meeting...no relation im sure..........*cough cough*
This is great news for us...Easy pickings.
Get out there and start informing. Thats the beauty of the constitution...it is neither liberal...nor conservative. Liberty is neutral.
Common Ground
I'm no libertarian, and I'm not a Ron Paul supporter. In fact, I don't think I can find a single active presidential candidate right now.
But, I appreciate Ron Paul's opposition to the FISA Amendments Act. This ought to become the central issue of the campaign, as it's the attacks on the Constitution that began under Bush and seem set to continue under the next President that have led America into the depths of its current troubles.
Barack Obama has posted a new statement justifying his support for the FISA Amendments Act, and I have just posted a point-by-point rebuttal to it.
It's at:
Irregular Times
Registered Democrat without a candidate,
J. Clifford
The attacks on the
The attacks on the Constitution began long before Bush. I'm very glad, though, that people are starting to notice and are concerned by all this.
By the way, welcome to the Daily Paul! You might not be a Ron Paul supporter -- but nobody is perfect... :-)
Glad for your visit
There are millions of Americans out there with you who feel they are without a candidate, regardless of party affiliation. There's something big happening right now: Americans are beginning to notice that the Constitution has been getting lost in party politics, and they want their freedoms back.
You'll find people here of every ilk; folks who were/are Democrats, Republicans, Independents, never registered or voted -- we cross the gamut. Many of us registered Republican this electoral season just so we could vote for a man who honors the Constitution.
As much as we have been and continue to be focused on Dr. Paul, the real underlying, unifying principle here is our genuine love of liberty.
If you browse our forums, you'll notice we're a group of people who disagree with each other on a lot of topics! But when it comes to rescuing our freedoms, and our desire to return this nation to the Constitutional republic it was designed to be, our bonds are unbreakable.
I am encouraged by those, like you, with the courage and conviction to not sit idly by as more of our liberties are spirited away from us. Especially when traitorous actions are performed by those in whom we had trusted and even supported, our vigilance for liberty remains of utmost importance.
Hope you continue to visit the Daily Paul.
Hope you'll make the Daily Paul your home, and...
:
glad you're hear, J. Clifford! Believe me, I was a lifelong , trueblue ultralib until I discovered Dr. Paul a year ago when I was looking for an anti-war candidate who really meant it...and have never been more hopeful and joyous in my ENTIRE political life. He is the real deal and once you wake up you can never turn back.

has been promising the moon and the stars. Don't even get me started on the giant math lie he is selling.
When his supporters find out that he can't deliver on all the promises he is making, they are going to go nuts. Just wait until the change they get isn't anything like the change they have been cheering for. Yikes!
It makes me smile and hopeful that some of them are figuring it out already. Good for them.

Reality Time at MyBarackObama.com
Bob Ostertag
It's reality time at MyBarackObama.com. The latent tension between a conventional top-down presidential campaign and the bottom-up social-networking Internet operation it launched has burst into the open in the form of a grassroots insurrection against Senator Obama's decision to support legislation granting legal immunity to telecommunications companies that cooperated with the Bush administration's program of wiretapping without warrants.
The Obama campaign, by far the most Internet-savvy presidential campaign thus far, operates several web sites. BarackObama.com is a straight-forward campaign site, where visitors can see videos of speeches, read about issues, and or course donate money. MyBarackObama.com is a full-fledged social networking site built along the lines of Facebook. Once a visitor registers as a MyBarackObama member, he or she can post blogs, join discussion groups, send each other messages, organize events, and create networks of "friends," just as on Facebook or MySpace.
In fact, MyBarackObama.com is actually a Facebook knock-off, shepherded into reality over a year ago by Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes. The Obama campaign's early recruitment of Hughes, which enabled the campaign to pull a virtually bug-free social networking site out of its hat early on in the campaign, was one of the most pivotal yet least noted turning points in the presidential race.
MyBarackObama.com has been critical to the spectacular fundraising success of the Obama campaign. But what Senator Obama might do with this novel asset beyond simply raising money was an open question. And what MyBarackObama.com might do with Senator Obama was a question few even asked.
Noam Cohen wrote in the New York Times last month, "The receptiveness of the Obama campaign to such bottom-up influences raises a question: might the candidate actually model his approach to politics on the informal communal spirit the Internet encourages?"
Political commentator Andrew Sullivan thought the question had already been answered. "It's a new form of politics. It is likely to last beyond the Obama campaign and to change the shape of all campaigns to come."
Not so fast, argued Markos Moulitsas Zúniga of the DailyKos. "The Obama campaign is still very much a top-bottom operation. They've made it very easy for people to hop on the bandwagon, but those in the back of that wagon still get no say in where the campaign is going."
Well, this week it started to get really noisy in the back of the wagon. A new "group" started on MyBarackObama.com called "Senator Obama -- Please, No Telecom Immunity and Get FISA Right." By last night there were 7,000 members. At noon today there were 11435, just short of making it the largest group on the MyBarackObama site. During the time I wrote this column, more than 800 more signed up. By the time you read this, it will almost certainly be the largest. There is even a contest being organized to see who can predict how many members the group will have by the time of the FISA vote next week.
Note to the Obama campaign: even a cursory glance at the history of social networking on the Internet ( MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter for starters) shows that when content creation is put into the hands of the users who also have the ability to communicate and share with one another, the result becomes highly dynamic and unpredictable.
So here we are, balanced at the precise point where the bottom-up dynamics of Web 2.0 meets the top-down dynamics of an American presidential campaign. Depending on your take on Obama, you might imagine the Senator as railing in private against the power his Internet advisors have unwittingly given his base, or alternatively, as being secretly delighted at the unruly democratic spirit his campaign and its Web tools have unleashed.
In my most recent post, I wrote about the tension between Obama's Internet fundraising operation -- the 1.5 million small donors -- and his conventional fundraising. I wondered who would have the most influence with Obama, the small group of big donors who have faces and phone numbers the candidate knows, or the 1.5 million small donors.
It seems that the social networking tools of MyBarackObama.com may give some of those small donors a collective face and point of contact. At this moment, the contact is the "Senator Obama -- Please, No Telecom Immunity and Get FISA Right" group.
There is of course no guarantee how much real influence the members of this group will have with Obama. But they certainly have his attention. In fact, the good folks at Obama HQ are without doubt counting every new member. 12,261 and counting.
**
Some comments from "Senator Obama - Please, No Telecom Immunity and Get FISA Right":
After going through the long and difficult primary I truly believed that Senator Obama was the man we needed. It did not take long for him to prove me so wrong. The Senator from Chicago became an inside the Beltway wonder in such a short period of time. What I want, and I say want, not please, is to see him stand up and as the leader of the Demos and stop this FISA bill. The FISA part of the bill is just as wrong as the telecom immunity. But how can you condone the telecoms disregard of the law? Please tell me how? If he does not I am finished and I will not vote for him or any Demo. This is very difficult to say with McShame running on the GOP ticket. But if Senator Obama can't stand up for me and my right to privacy (4th Amendent) who the hell will?
this is a group that REFUSES to support a candidate that supports a measure that is _unconstitutional_. Playing that "it will get McCain elected" game doesn't fly here. We're concerned about the CONSTITUTION, remember that thing?
I'm done capitulating. If the contributors to the Obama campaign truly own it, as Obama likes to say, then it's time we started acting like it.
I have just contacted the Obama campaign and asked for my money back that I have contributed. They have agreed to refund it. If Senator Obama changes his mind and opposes FISA I will send all of my money back to the campaign.

WHAT DO these people expect?
WHAT DO these people expect? A nice guy President? This man is on Judicialwatch's 10 most corrupt politician in the nation, list. He is a CFR member and their puppet, just like John McCain. He is also backing down on leaving Iraq, now, and all his smiles and dancing rhetoric can not hide any of his history if one looks at it. Wake up Obamites!
Great Article
Dr. Paul cured my apathy
Does anybody know how much
Does anybody know how much of the young vote Obama got in the primaries? I tried to find some info, but came across nothing.
easy to convert
Obama supporters are the easiest to convert to freedom message.
all one needs to do is to be very polite and point out that the military industrial complex needs to be shut down and Obama will not do it and FED needs to be shut down and Obama will not even talk about it...and so on.
Big T'- post how to talk to Obama Supporters
bringing this back up!
Big T says This is how you do it:
First, before engaging them, turn off your brain. And depending on the audience, get a decaf mocha latte' or a fresh carrot juice cocktail in a recycled cup which has a picture of Che Guevara on it.
Than, start talking emotional platitudes about "how great it would feel", and "how much more fair it would be", and all the emotional arguments you can come up with.
Avoid facts.
Mentioning, "The R3VOLUTION" alot would be great!
How will this be successful?
Well, it's the way they became leftists and Obama supporters to begin with.
So, it's obvious that they are receptive to that approach. If they thought logically or knew anything about freedom, they wouldn't be an Obama supporter.
You have to speak their language. Occasionally mention something about "the planet", and maybe even some talk about "people of all races and beliefs who support our movement", and an occasional mention of a whale or a seal might help to keep their attention. And, they would love to hear about how our R3VOLUTION despises the establishment and all its corruption and greed and evil, which is straight down our alley, so they should get right on to that. And then finish up with how we're all being "played" by both sides of the aisle, and sold down the river, so we need to return the gov't to the people. That should do it.
Then, don't expect too much from them. If you can get them to pull the lever for a good candidate, then that's about the most you can hope for.
And remember, emotionally-driven people can shift with the wind, so you have to time it right or they'll drift off with the next bird that flies by.
Are we really so arrogant?
Are we really so arrogant? Do you really think that people in one certain group (millions of millions of individuals) are ALL the same? Holy shit your post pisses me off. No wonder people don't want to join the Paul campaign, they come here and see these arrogant, douche-bag posts and get turned away!
Come on, This is funny,

but completely true and absolutely dead-on. I love you Big-T!!!

Feisty
It is nice to see another group of people with a back bone, I was beginning to think that RP supporters were the only ones left anymore. I love that Obama's supporters are holding him accountable for this, hopefully he listens. I believe my favorite comment on barackobama.com is from someone named RedDog and his comment is
"I'm 75 years old. I've earned the right to say it like it is. Senator Obama, if you continue to backpedal on FISA, I personally will not vote in November, I will also apply my considerable talents of persuasion to convince others to do the same. Joseph E. Lucas FROM New Jersey"
GREAT FOR THIS MAN!!!!! These are the kind of people that RP will begin to siphon off away from Barack if he doesn't shape up. Could you imagine those 10,000 or so people in that group jumping ship. It could be devastating, and would certainly make it fun to watch the news that day.
Nobody cares how many don't vote
The only thing that matters is how many people voted for whom.
It makes a far bigger statement to vote for an alternate party candidate who can't win. If the alternate party candidates who can't win were to gain 2% it would send shockwaves.
Adding that number to those who don't vote is something that's been happening for years. The people who don't vote are simply branding themselves impotent. Non-voters don't count.
IMissLiberty
Welcome them with open arms!
We must welcome all these people to our movement! They are becoming enlightened just as we have. The FISA bill will become law, the current Congress has to protect itself because they all knew what was going on as well.

Get used to it folks. The anti-war, anti-lobbyist senator that just got finished giving a speech before AIPAC, a pro-israel lobbyist group, had some pretty harsh rhetoric aimed at Iran.
Wait….didn’t Nancy Pelosi just pull a bill that would have kept Bush from attacking Iran without Congressional approval at AIPAC’s request? Ya…..some real change man :(
Now the Patriot Act…….Patriot Act 2……FISA telecom immunity. I’m not real sure what else folks need to see that the only thing much different about Obama is the color of his skin.
His foreign and domestic policies are the status quo pretty much. Sure…he supposedly wants out of Iraq….but let’s see if he removes all the troops from the 14 permanent bases that are there or addresses the issue of the single largest US embassy on the entire planet being in Iraq and how that makes the Iraqi’s feel.
People fail to realize that it was the Clinton administration who initiated the Iraq Regime Change policy in the White House. Bush just followed through on what Clinton put forth. Now we have our troops there and an embassy the size of the Vatican, along with all the western petroleum companies that got the boot a few decades back by saddam…………ya……we can *draw down* our troop levels now. Great going Obama. You are such a leader man.
How about you tell everyone about how our currency is backed by the sales of petroleum and any nation that refuses to sell their oil in dollars gets portrayed as the devil in US media until we garner enough uneducated support to initiate war with these nations.
Tell them how Saddam quit selling oil in dollars and started selling it in euros in 2000. How the Iranians have created an Oil Bourse to sell their oil on the open commodities markets in currencies other than the dollar and that’s the real reason Bush and Obama and the rest have increasingly harsh rhetoric towards Iran. Same with Chavez.
Obama is going to bring nothing but more guns and butter, neither of which we can afford. War and Socialism are not the answer to our problems folks. No matter how alluring socialism seems, it’s a failed ideology. The US is BANKRUPT because of this.
Ok…here are some links to learn a little bit more about why Obama isn’t going to bring much change and why he is now catering to lobbyist groups like AIPAC, voting for FISA telecom immunity etc.

Great Opportunity!
This was a great post from one of our DP'ers! Remember RP said he is a little soft with Obama because he feels we can win alot of them over!!!
above is a great comment from neoconned!
But ...we must also not forget to sprinkle in some "softness" and the "Love" part of the Revolution!
When some of them wake up then they will wake up others! We must grab this opportunity! RP yesterday said it is urgent we spread the message and quickly or soon our freedom message may have to go into a period of "deep hibernation"
We have to take any momentum and build on it...one inch at a time. Like a rope pulling contest...gain ground and dont let up!!!
What a surprise
I don't feel sorry for the people that fell for this media creation. They deserve the ruin he will bring us.

The NWO bit off ...
more than they can chew with the Obama candidacy. Obama supporters, many the first time in any campaign, actually expect Obama to deliver. They would be ripe for the picking, had Ron Paul not suspended his campaign. Yet more evidence it was a stupid move.
Obama didn't need to "move to the middle" for the general election. National polls had him up by 15 points, with over 50% of the electorate. That's not the time to sell out on core principles, unless you've been told to do so by the real power brokers, the moneychangers. Funny thing, while they control virtually all the money, there are not that many moneychangers; they're probably outnumbered by soon-to-be disgruntled Obama supporters, alone.
Fascinating.
