CNN: Federal judge rules 2 Patriot Act provisions unconstitutional
A federal court on Wednesday struck down two provisions of the Patriot Act dealing with searches and intelligence gathering, saying they violate the Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable searches and seizures with regard to criminal prosecutions.
"It is critical that we, as a democratic nation, pay close attention to traditional Fourth Amendment principles," wrote Judge Ann Aiken of the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon in her 44-page decision. "The Fourth Amendment has served this nation well for 220 years, through many other perils."

This news was very uplifting....
in my zeal to personally contact her and thank her, I have become aggravated..........I HATE SEARCH ENGINES....when I specifically type in "how to contact Federal Judge Ann L. Aiken"......that is the only information I want........of course it gives you links to 10 billion (exaggeration cause I'm po'd right now) sites that have nothing to do with what you are trying to find.......and I don't have the patience to sort through them....but anyway, if you read this Judge Aiken, thank you very much...more Judges should be like you...
This was inevitable, but why
This was inevitable, but why did it take so long? The Patriot Act has been in force since early 2002.
The wheels of the judiciary turn too slowly.

It's my humble opinion
that any lawmaker who authors or signs legislation that is found to be unConstitutional, should be subject to criminal penalties commensurate with the infringements he created upon the people.
Similar penalties for any legislator who votes for it, and any agencies or agents which attempted to enforce it.
We already have a penalty
We already have a penalty for that--it's called "impeachment". Unfortunately it only works in a self-policing (i.e., honest and ethical) system.

Another victory for liberty!
Super bump for "freedom"
This is wonderful!!!! This
This is wonderful!!!! This is now a part of the Second Right that we got back from Judiciary! One, we never lost, so now only 7 need to come back! Yea!!!!
This ruling is great because I KNOW that our Constitution can and will save this country from destruction by TPTB. More and more of us need to push and push. That police site with the plans to draw blood better take heed, because they will get and lose so many lawsuits there will not even BE a police dept if they do not desist.
So..
All those who voted for this act are themselves guilty of violating their oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.
