Group: Campaign for Liberty created on my.barackobama.com

Statement of Principle

Americans inherit from their ancestors a glorious tradition of freedom and resistance to oppression. Our country has long been admired by the rest of the world for her great example of liberty and prosperity – a light shining in the darkness of tyranny.

But many Americans today are frustrated. The political choices they are offered give them no real choice at all. For all their talk of “change,” neither major political party as presently constituted challenges the status quo in any serious way. Neither treats the Constitution with anything but contempt. Neither offers any kind of change in monetary policy. Neither wants to make the reductions in government that our crushing debt burden demands. Neither talks about bringing American troops home not just from Iraq but from around the world. Our country is going bankrupt, and none of these sensible proposals are even on the table.

This destructive bipartisan consensus has suffocated American political life for many years. Anyone who tries to ask fundamental questions instead of cosmetic ones is ridiculed or ignored.

That is why the Campaign for Liberty was established: to highlight the neglected but common-sense principles we champion and reinsert them into the American political conversation.

The U.S. Constitution is at the heart of what the Campaign for Liberty stands for, since the very least we can demand of our government is fidelity to its own governing document. Claims that our Constitution was meant to be a “living document” that judges may interpret as they please are fraudulent, incompatible with republican government, and without foundation in the constitutional text or the thinking of the Framers. Thomas Jefferson spoke of binding our rulers down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution, and we are proud to follow in his distinguished lineage.

We oppose FISA and are supportive of the efforts made by the grassroots online group: Senator Obama - Please Vote NO on Telecom Immunity - Get FISA Right

"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression." - Thomas Paine.

I think

I think we have to be careful not to attack Obama directly. Just pass on the education so they are more receptive to the facts.

Urgent to CFL on Obama site!

I have not joined yet as I just saw this that they allowed it!! Great! Will one of you that is already in that group Please post this letter to the editor that was posted on another thread here? It appeared in the Richmond Times- dispatch on July 7 and I think is perfect to post over on that site!!!!

Here it is:

Dear Editor, Times-Dispatch:

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice.
On June 30 I celebrate my independence day, and on
July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special, because
it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few
months later, I was in the United States to stay. That
I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is
just part of the story, but I digress.

I've thought a lot about the anniversary this
year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot
about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late
1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, so
when a young leader came along, every Cuban
was at least receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and
passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell
in love with him. They never questioned who his friends
were or what he really believed in. When he said he would
help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care
and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he
would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said,
'Praise the Lord.' And when the young leader
said, 'I will be for change and I'll bring you
change,' everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'

But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the
executioner's guns went silent, the people's guns
had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal,
they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the
time everyone received their free education, it was worth
nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late,
because they were now working for him. By the time the
change was finally implemented, Cuba had been knocked
down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the
time the change was over, more than a million people had
taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call
those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the
most fortunate Cubans. And now I'm back to the
beginning of my story.

Luckily, we in America would never fall for a young
leader who promised change without asking, what change?
How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?

Would we?

great work wninja!

But, here's the thing...

Opposition and bickering among Reps and Dems is a good thing! Every time they agree we loose more freedom.

Please hear me out...

Harry Truman said, "Whenever you have an efficient government you have a dictatorship."

The Founders wisely set up a constitutional form specifically so that individuals, groups, and government branches would fight against each other, jockey for position, and ultimately check and balance each other.

The only time the branches and parties would come together, reasoned the Founders, was when a problem was so immediate and disastrous that cooperation and efficiency were needed to solve it quickly, such as national disasters and major wars.

In other words, the Founders wanted the government to be slow, contentious, and largely uncooperative.

This structure was set up at a time when the People understood that they individually bore the main responsibility for their own welfare.

Now, when the majority of our citizens look first and primarily to the government to solve problems "change", frustration with a sluggish, partisan, and uncooperative government is an ever-increasing sentiment.

The more the government fights internally, the more they leave citizens alone free.

In most cases, the more government cooperates, the more freedom we lose. Don't get me wrong--I want the government to be strong and capable in its prescribed duty to protect my unalienable rights.

The problem is that power centralizes and expands, and government--especially popular government--always tends toward exceeding its prescribed limitations.

Cooperative, efficient government has given us the following and more:
The 16th and 17th Amendments and the Federal Reserve Act, and, as a result, the Great Depression.

The New Deal, complete with the foundations of every entitlement program in existence today.

The Iraqi War, which is currently costing us $12 billion per month and is now the second longest war in our history, as well as the second most costly (surpassed only by World War II).

The $5.3 trillion bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

And in the process, what has been forcefully taken from us?

Tax dollars, incalculable amounts of spending power through inflation, a constitutional form that largely prevented the growth of the federal government and ensured that state governments could check and balance the federal government, domestic peace as class conflict and resentment are created because of forced wealth redistribution, and a naturally balanced and healthy society as the government favors certain institutions at the expense of others.

I don't know about you, but I wish the government would stop getting things done. The more it gets done, the less freedom you and I have, the less money we have, and the less power we have to influence and change things for the better.

Don't forget...

...the video from yesterday, of Obama walking out of the Fed Res. building, waving to the crowd...after his secret meetings with Bernanke and Paulson!!! He is complicit in the traitorous conspiricy that has enslaved the American people. Bring back public hangings!!
------------------
BC
If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!

Treason

At what point do we call it treason? I would call treason conspiring against the people- at what point are we all going to stand up and call the duck a duck, and a traitor a traitor? Clearly the Fd Reserve is killing economic liberty, but no one other than us is standing up and saying "THIS SUCKS!" with out spining it into a nice little fairy tale for the sheep to go to bed by.... Errr, I'm getting really aggrivated...

Continued Education

Once they become aware of the facts, their eyes will be opened.

TIME TO "TROLL"

I SAY WE START TROLLING FOR LIBERTY AND RON PAUL ON BARAK'S MOST ACTIVE SITE! SEE YOU THERE HAHA!

I would not troll. I would

I would not troll. I would just join the fisa group, there, maybe. But..I would rather join the CFL group there. Many of our ideals are the same. I just don't want Obama..but I would not troll nor harp upon that. I just want these people to keep waking up to the Constitution. I do not want to change their opinions on everything..just the US and its sovereignty must be maintained! I hope our group will have lots of idiots, jerks, Democrats, and all other motley crew. I just want NUMBERS who will not quit til we get our country BACK. As RP said once, the presidential campaign is irrelevant..

I concur

Be nice and polite. Don't insult people just stand by a statement of principle. I did join the anti-FISA group but will leave if and/or when the CFL group is approved. Remember this site is heavily moderated and segregation is a tool of socialism. It's self evident if you en devour to create a group. Personal interaction is somewhat limited and no doubt intentionally anemic. What is important is like you say NUMBERS we just need to boost the numbers and represent. They're already saying what needs to be said they are vigorously protesting so we really need say very little. Just support their effort and let them lead their own charge.

If/when the CFL group is approved we'll offer ourselves up as a bastion of hope for the future of liberty and let the chips fall where they may. I do however encourage all of you who are participating to put some effort and time in on your profile and post a personal blog or two. Also look me up and lets start connecting with each other on the other side.

Snuggly The Security Bear

He's not scary. He's snuggly and secure. And he's here to tell you all about how our nice friends in the telecom industry are helping to protect us!

Also check out what Snuggly has to say about Constitutional Compromise (see clip dated 7/2/08).

Perhaps we could each mail a stuffed "Snuggly" teddy bear to Obama...

What is interesting

to me is that if they do not allow the Campaign for Liberty group, then they are shutting the door on any Paul supporters coming to their camp. If they allow the group, they run the risk of having their supporters turned when Ron becomes the nominee.

I think it shows a great willingness and compassion on the part of the Paul supporters to actually enter opposition territory, and create a group that exists for the sole purpose of debate and to encourage critical thinking, comparing the two candidates, pointing out flaws and strengths, etc.

America needs more of this. Debate is so important, and it is so what the controlling elites do not want us to have. It feels as tho we're supposed to agree with whatever we hear on television, and that's manipulation, plain and simple.

Liberty, once it takes root, is a plant of rapid growth.

Now....that's what we are talking about!

We are smarter than the average bears and it is showing. There is no let down in our efforts, we have just begun to gear up! This might really be brilliant. We spend a lot of time preaching to the choir and what we need to do is bring in new parishoners, you know - altos, tenors, sopranos - diversity, the more the merrier.

Now, what about reaching the media....that totally controlled group who have been instructed to blackball our efforts but who can make such a difference if we can bring them to at least report fairly. Does anyone have any family or friends who are within the media...you know with some clout that we could brainstorm with to see if we can't "free" the media again?

Kind of, but I don't expect

Kind of, but I don't expect Ofisa to change his position. I'm positioning myself to funnel them to the CFL.

and...

If the GOP decides that they are in fact screwed if they nominate McCanus and that if they nominate Paul their Ofisa nightmare will all go away. Then we still have the task of swaying Ofisas' support our way. At any rate no matter what happens there is never not a good time to chip away at Ofisa and peel away his support.

and that IMHO is the one thing that can unite us all.

I'm Confused again:

Is this site something that you have dreamed up primarily to pull from the other side? I can barely stand to hear that name, much less sign on to a group with it in there. Perhaps I am just tired and not reading properly. Please explain or clarify.

Yeah that's why I don't

Yeah that's why I don't wanna do it alone, makes my skin crawl too.

On the upside, since Ofisa is still runs a very top-down campaign and his relabeling of liberty keeps everybody shielded from each other fairly well. The way the site is set up makes this tolerable. So far i have joined the site, joined the anti-FISA league, and proclaimed I am supporting the anti-FISA movement within his own network. Posted a blog that is basically a page out a Pauls writings. FISA could be a deal breaker for many and we should be ready to pick up the pieces. Just go over there and point out what's wrong with supporting FISA and that Dr.Paul does not support FISA and is the only candidate to really opposes it.

Basically, what I wanna show them is that we picked the winning horse they picked the one who would be crowned anyway.

When the anti-FISA league is the biggest group in his coalition... well the hope is that his campaign will unravel and his number divide.

I'm sure they'll say Paul's not in the race and all that stuff and I'd ask who's fault that is as I promote the Campaign for Liberty.

Fueling the fire might get the Ofisa psy-ops to retreat back into the confines of their own website to fend off this assault. Get them out off other boards like DP confusing the masses with their Delphi web techniques.

I can't stand it either but it has to be done.

I'm no libertarian, and I'm not a Ron Paul supporter. In fact, I don't think I can find a single active presidential candidate right now.

But, I appreciate Ron Paul's opposition to the FISA Amendments Act. This ought to become the central issue of the campaign, as it's the attacks on the Constitution that began under Bush and seem set to continue under the next President that have led America into the depths of its current troubles.

Barack Obama has posted a new statement justifying his support for the FISA Amendments Act, and I have just posted a point-by-point rebuttal to it.
