How did you find out about the Federal Reserve? Can enthusiasts wake people up?

How did you find out about the Federal Reserve? I know you probably read Creature from Jekyll Island or watched the Money Masters, etc. But, I'm interested in the background. Was it because your friend or a stranger informed you about the Fed and these materials out of the blue or was it because you already had some interest on the subject? Or was it just by chance? What I want to figure out is if enthusiasts can wake up people who are totally unaware of what's going on or not. If you could give some background I think it would help people who are trying to wake people up.

The Fed
I actualy found out about the Federal Reserve from my dad.He explained to me that money used to have "will pay to bearer on demand in Gold or Silver" and that money had a Gold standard.You only printed what you had value of Gold.He told me that the currency of today was much like the military script the had in Korea.So when I heard Ron Paul and Alex Jones talking about the Federal Reserve I was all ears.

"The Creature From Jekyll Island" - I read it in the mid 90's. It really woke me up. After reading it I looked deeper and realized what a sham is being played upon us. I De-Taxed by sending a letter into the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA), the equivelent to the IRS, stating that I am not a Tax Payer under the Income Tax Act and that I am a Natural-person blah blah blah.
Anyway, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then and I am definately a "truther" in a pretty big way.

Could it be that people cannot be woken up like flipping a light switch by giving some info once?
Also, I should have asked this question. How old were you when you found out about the Federal Reserve?
Could it be that it's mostly a waste of time to try to wake up older people?

F2F + The Money Masters??
F2F is where I 1st came across it. Came to that DVD from 9/11 truth movement.
Age? I'm in my 20's.
Also, I must say that documentaries like The Money Masters and Money as Debt are decent for beginners, but they spread the laughable solution idea of giving the State control over the money supply.
The Mises documentary on the Fed is the best one for accurate information.

Yes, that is an excellent documentary
I have two minor quibbles with it though:
a) strawman of a-narchy
b) the religious elements
But, I was blown away the first time I saw it by how good it was.

to repeat the message? Yes, for over 30 years. The attitudes I have encountered are not just ignorance, but apathy and intellectual laziness. One keeps trying though. The alternatives are unspeakably bleak; we're living them now.

I really liked it, but I think the music at the end would turn off certain audiences. I hesitate to forward the video to the people that I want to convince for this reason. If it's yours, could you please make another version without that music?

No, it's not my video, so I'm afraid I can't alter it. As I've forwarded it on to people in my email list, I did actually think to warn them about the "scream/singing" at the very end of the video -- it is rather startling, isn't it! Don't know why I didn't think to add that same warning when I posted it here -- sorry!!
But for the last 1.5 seconds, I think it's an awesome video as an introduction to the emptiness of FRNs. It came from the same guy who made this short vid re: gas prices not going up -- no screaming at the end of that one. :)
That's okay. That was a great video, even I felt little stupid
for accumulating U.S. dollars, but I must think straight. I agree that the federal reserve notes are as described in the video, but debts are real, in my opinion. Showing this video to bill collectors won't do us any good, in my opinon. Just like my firend. His reply was, "Oh, it's all funny money anyway" when I explained to him about the depression that I think is coming. A few days later, his telephone was disconnected because he was late to pay the "funny money".
I understand that most of us would love to have an honest money system. Me, too. But, that doesn't mean that the popular Hyper-Inflation prediction is correct.

For me it was in the late '70s when I was quite proud of myself for owning a CD that was returning about 16%. Then I ran across an article that informed me about the level of inflation and my real rate of return - a negative %! That was it for me - I was pissed off. I started my education about economics, ending up in the early 80s at FEE (Foundation for Economic Education) and the von Mises Institute summer seminars. Started voting LP...
