Here's a copy of an e-mail I received from Matt Chancey. I'm posting it here because we have a real shot at electing a Ron Paul republican to statewide office here in Alabama. This would be a great accomplishment if we can pull it off. Matt was the Alabama state coordinator and later regional coordinator for the Ron Paul presidential campaign.

Dear friends and supporters,

We are now less than eight days from the July 15th runoff. Yes, I'm
confident. Yes, I'm feeling really good about the way things are shaping up.

We've already achieved a great deal of success. For one, we forced a runoff with an entrenched, well-funded establishment candidate who outspent me at least three to one.

I've visited over 30 weekly newspapers all over the state—giving interviews at most. We've been on the radio since June 25th and, due to your generosity, we've raised enough money to be on radio statewide through the election.

Now comes the final sprint. Today, I'm in north Alabama. Tomorrow, I'm in Montgomery. Wednesday, I'm in Mobile. Thursday and Friday, I'm in the Wiregrass.

To get across the finish line, I'm going to need your continued support. Over the weekend, I produced the television ad I want to run during the final days of the campaign. Check it out on my website: www.mattchancey.com.

If I can run this ad in major media markets around the state, I'm confident we can win this runoff. The good news is ads are pretty cheap right now because there are so few elections. The bad news is I'm short about $13,000.

I can buy a 30-second commercial for as little as $50. If just a fraction of the people on my campaign e-mail list commit to buying one television spot, we can dominate the airwaves over the final days of this campaign.

I can't thank you enough for all you've done. We've already won in the sense that everyone who runs for the Public Service Commission in the future will have to take a stand on the issue of energy independence for America. The debate has changed. This office will never be the same.

Please help me go all the way and not only change the debate, but make history. My election will send shockwaves through the Republican establishment. The news will go way beyond the borders of our state. This campaign is not about an individual. It's about a vision for what people can do when they work together to fix a broken system.
