Seattle, my hometown, is a very liberal place. The Stranger - which bills itself as Seattle's only newspaper, is a free, weekly tabloid paper that is very popular with young people. It contains the requisite weekly entertainment news, but it (along with the city's other free weekly paper, the Seattle Weekly) also features surprisingly strong news coverage that the two "mainstream" papers - the Seattle Times & Post Intelligencer - simply don't cover. This article about Ron Paul is an excellent example:

Indeed, there is a "new constitutional era" being conceived and I don't see anything ugly about the baby/fetus. What remains ugly is the old unconstitutional era, and it's vain enflamed pillars of lying crap and puke. The old unconstitutional era is evidenced by an education system that does not educate, the justice system that has no justice, the legal system that is not legal, the religious systems that are not religious or spiritual, and the broken medical system, all aflame by those stuck in the old unconstitutional era, busy fanning the flames of it's pillars on the right and left. "Zeitgeist" comes to mind. Ron Paul supporters are saying, "I LOVE", not "I hate". has some interesting ideas, but he is 180 degrees from the party on the most important issue, the war in Iraq and the war on terror as a whole. That won't work...

You mean the party is 180 degrees from the people on the most important issue. The PEOPLE want the illegal and unconstitutional war in Iraq over. The war on terror is a misnomer. The unorganized, unskilled and inept criminals you call terrorists could be well handled by an open, free private market. You seem unrepelled by war, and collateral damage in the form of innocent Iraqi and American deaths, but you would be repelled at the thought of professional mercenaries doing it for a bounty with many thousands fewer dying, much less money spent and in less time?
Please do America a favor and stay home on election day.

Our Guy
It’s people like you who are the problem. You follow the same route as fox noise and undermine the accomplishments of Ron Paul to divert attention from the issues. To call showing support for a candidate as manipulation is absurd. Instead of spouting brainless commentary, taken straight from the fox noise arsenal, like “no one cares†or to frame the only people who do care as shut-in cult fanatics is the definition of fascism.
I’ll follow your example and make a generalization about Dr. Paul supporters. While others write off their principles to defeat the better of two evils, we will walk out of the voting booths free from the weight of the immorality others have committed. We will vote for principle and even if we stand alone we can cherish the sweetest reflection that our vote was not lost.
PS: We need to get some hempfest Ron Paul t-shirts. Someone get on it and put me down for a couple!

This is what it takes, each of us getting out and DOing what WE can do to help spread the word, educate the sleeping masses (ignorant, and distracted by mass media and hype). Get a design, buy some t's, get them made up. Don't forget to let us know so we can sign up for a couple '-)

It is interesting when, people who actively support their candidate by participating in on-line polls, blogs, and so forth, they are often accused of spamming or somehow rigging the system.
Never seems to occur to the critics that it is Ron Paul's message of sanity in an insane world that inspires such activism.
If this kind of enthusiastic support is new to Mr. Volpe, it is probably because there have been few candidates in our lifetime who dare to say what Dr. Paul has said: abolish the IRS, the FED, fight against the North American Union, bring the troops home from everywhere and stick them on the southern border, and keep out of people's personal lives. Now that is quite inspirational to me. Nobody else is advocating these measures. So yes, I will blow the trumpet for Dr. Paul. At the end of the day, this is my government too, and I know what I want, and what I do not want.
