Best Books on Liberty and Freedom
I'm looking for some help again. I'm looking to start filling up my bookshelf with books on Liberty and Freedom, all the stuff that everyone here stands for. I'm hoping some of you can maybe give me a top ten list of books that I should get to start with. Naturally I've already bought RP's 'The Revolution'.and I also have 'A Foreign Policy of Freedom'. Where should I go from here? What does everybody feel are some MUST READ's for our cause?
Thanks for your help.

For some lighter reading
there are some fictional works that have a lot to say -
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress - Robert A. Heinlein
(where TANSTAAFL originates)
April Morning - Howard Fast
(excellent historical fiction about Lexington and Concord)
The Crossing - Howard Fast
(historical fiction of Washington crossing the Delaware)
Anthem - Ayn Rand
(short, but possibly better than Atlas Shrugged)
Hahahah.... Ohh man.
Have I got the link for you.... ;)

I started the collection when I joined the movement. I've bought 30 books from amazon, since then. ;)
Soon to get more. :D

Two Great Books
I read two books this last month and they were brilliant! They are kind of old but the information was very illuminating. The titles are the "The Naked Communist" and then "The Naked Capitalist" By Cleon Skousen. They show with great detail how are freedoms are under attack. Who are the people attacking them and why. They are companion books that really pop the lid on the last 100 years of history on the World. They both made it to the top best sellers list. Just like Ron's book was a thorn in the establishment's side. These books were as well.
You won't go wrong with these books.
Cleon taught for years about correct government principals and the constitution in the spirit of the founders. He endorsed Ron Paul for president years before Ron ever decided to run. I sure do miss this man; he passed away a year or two ago.
A Good Starting Point
A couple wonderful books for the intelligent layman that comprehensively cover libertarianism both theoretically and as applied to particular issues are Mary Ruwart's "Healing Our World In An Age of Aggression" and Murray Rothbard's "For A New Liberty". A good shorter version is David Bergland's "Libertarianism In One Lesson".
They provide the best grounding you'll find - and you can go from there to books more specificically focused on particular issues - such as Mises various books on economics, Hoppe on political theory with respect to anarchism, democracy and private defense. Read any of James Bovard's books for exposes on government in current events.
Go to Mises.com for extensive information as well as LewRockwell.com.

Yes, For a New Liberty
is very good for outlining the tenets of the libertarian philosophy. Read it a few months ago.
John Stuart Mill's
essay on Liberty changed my thinking. Before that I was a neocon nazi, and I became a classic liberal.
this essay is a classic. Be sure you have a dictionary handy.
Classic...
If your in the mood for a thousand+ page read, Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" is arguably the most well known Pro-Capitalism Book of recent history.
Also Rand's book
Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal is pretty good. Chapter after chapter of hard hitting essays slamming conservatism, collectivism, and liberalism!

Ya, that's pretty good book
And it's a quick read too.
My pick:
No Treason by Lysander Spooner is a must read. It's hands down the most mind-opening work I've ever read on the Constitution.
