Bob Barr on Glenn Beck now 7/11
Submitted by lynnopoly on Fri, 07/11/2008 - 21:52
He was just asked about 9/11 Truth movement and basically denied an investigation. Said we have more pressing matters and need to move on.
Thought ya'll would want to know.
I am not a Barr fan, I brought this to your attention for input.
Glenn beck is always repeated at 12am Eastern for those interrested.
All in all, it was a good interview. Glenn even spoke those two dreaded words; Ron Paul. There was a moment there that I thought Barr had opened his eyes to the idea of exiting Iraq (for those who don't know, this was the reason Glenn didn't like RP).
But, like I said, the Truth thing bothered me as I am behind an investigation.

I would vote
for him over Obama or McCain. Not over Balwin, but I hope both of them will not be running.
But I am still planning for Ron Paul to get the GOP nominaiton.
What Barr said about 9/11 did not bother me. He did not say he would not call for an investigation. He said he is not involved with that and does not want to discuss the past, but rather the future.
Glenn mentioned Ron Paul twice with some disdain. Not terrible, but not good. He said, "Ron Paul wants to get rid of all these departments. We can't do that overnight." Idiot. Paul did not say, overnight.
Yea, I got that. You would think Barr would at least back up RP.
Consider these words from George Washington, the Father of our Nation, in his farewell speech on September 19, 1796:
"It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible. Of all the dispositions and habits that lead to political prosperity..
If you wont fight for the right when you can easily win...you may...have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival [or] when there is no chance of victory...it's better to perish than to live as slaves.

Go Bob Barr!
With Bob Barr, we have someone in the freedom movement being interviewed every few days on TV, radio, newspaper, or magazine and is speaking out for small government, our Constitutional rights, and peace. We are trying to raise $45,000 in 10 days to get Barr on the West Virginia Presidential ballot. If we do, we will most likely be on 49 states. We will suit to get on in Oklahoma. Let freedom grow.
ALOHA! FROM DAILY PAUL..
Since when did Barr sound like Paul??? Who cares about Barr??? He's not Ron Paul and will never be. Lose these threads. Go to the beach and think how you can support the Campaign for Freedom. Don't waste your energy on Barr.
Who SHOULDN'T care about Barr?
This is the only man who could possibly get into the debates. We definitely need a candidate preaching the ideas of limited government and a non-interventionist foreign policy. If we don't get him in on the debates then big government will be the only topic discussed...therefore, supporting Barr (although not necessarily voting for Barr if you prefer Baldwin) is supporting the campaign for freedom. Please stop the Barr bashing...He is 10 times better than Obama or Mccain, and undoubtedly, we all would rather see him taking office than either of those two.
I like the way you state that , 'We

If we don't get him in on the debates then big government will be the only topic discussed...therefore, supporting Barr (although not necessarily voting for Barr if you prefer Baldwin) is supporting the campaign for freedom.
That just makes sense and I didn't see it before. Thank you.

Great move not mentioning 9/11 due to Risk Management Analysis
In a time where we are trying to bring good PR and people of all denominations into our circles, it is not in his best interest to speak on behalf of an issue which is so DIVISIVE. At the current time the issue is very touchy, and mentioning it would not be as superior as the refusal of the idea. It is a simple risk management analysis, and the risk is not worth the reward at the current time. We can save an investigation and talks of investigation for after the election. It is undeniably deemed as a "loony" notion by MOST Americans (whether or not we agree with their beliefs), and thus at the current time would not do him much good. We need to pick our battles, and this one should be reserved for another day.
Agreed and just how
do people believe we can get justice for 911 with the same old, same old Powers that be? We The People willnot. It is like doing the same old things and expecting to achieve different results. It willnot happen. Agreed , We should pick our battles and the battle ahead is almost like using an AA meetings analogy. One day and one step at a time(In the right direction of course). The direction? Vote them ALL out(except RP of course) and change their directions. We have been going about this battle using the correct RP methods of truth to power. I sometimes wonder if we shouldn't combine a little of the powers that be's own Problem/Reaction/Solution strategy right along with RP's Truth To Power. The Campaign for Liberty in a way is "The Think Tank" that is Needed For And By We The People only in my opinion of course.
Small minority
You have to realize that the truthers are a VERY small minority. Most Americans wholeheartedly reject the premise, and now is not the time to bring up issues which most people find appalling. In election years you simply do not bring up issues which will do more potential harm than good.
Do you remember in the Fox News debate, Paul adamantly and unequivocally did the best he could of deflecting the question concerning his "truther " following. The reason he rightly did so was because he understands that it simply is not the issue to be discussing during this time in the political cycle.
That's how my husband took it.
I was pleased with their discussion on NAFTA. I could vote for Barr, but I like Baldwin a bit more. I think he has strength thru conviction to stand up to the evil encroaching America.

i don't see the harm in
i don't see the harm in another investigation.... it's not like it can hurt anything.
No harm in wasting time, money and focus?
If there was an inside job conspiracy the people behind the conspiracy are way too powerful to be undercovered by any investigation, especially after seven years of cover-up. Any investigation would be a huge waste of time, money and focus.

Thanks for posting. Peace
Don't it.
I'm holding hope for RP, but if it doesn't happen, I will vote for Baldwin.

Note: this interview was a repeat
It initially aired sometime in June.
Oh, I did not know that.

Wow, I didn't know that George was tyrannical
Thanks for that.
I agree with what James Buchanan, the 15 President had to say:
"I have seldom met an intelligent person whose views were not narrowed and distorted by religion."
You quote an interesting man,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Buchanan
Historians in 2006 voted his failure to deal with secession the worst presidential mistake ever made.[14] James Buchanan's average historical ranking by scholars considering presidential achievements, leadership qualities, failures and faults (such as corruption), place him as the second worst president in U.S. history.

If you want to call the Constitution a document of tyranny
so be it.
George Washington also remarked regarding America's founding, "The hand of providence has been so conspicuous in all this that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith."
Yes, Americas top educator, top statesman, top judge , and foremost founding father all concurred the most important thing in America is God. They realized it, and the generations who followed them realized it as well. Just listen to the words of our presidents.
John Adams the second president, "The safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially depend on the protection and blessing of Almighty God."
Thomas Jefferson the third president, "With a humble confidence in the mercies of a supreme and impartial God and ruler of the Universe we must devoutly implore His divine goodness to protect us."
The seventh president, Andrew Jackson, "We ought all to rely with confidence on the promises of our dear redeemer and give him our hearts."
Zachary Taylor, the twelfth president, "It was for love of the truths of this great book that sustained our fathers in the resolution to become a free nation."
Abraham Lincoln, "Those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord."
Calvin Coolidge, "The strength of our country is the strength of its religious convictions."
Benjamin Franklin said, "He who shall introduce into public affairs the principles of primitive Christianity will change the face of the world."
Americas first chief justice John Jay said, "The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the Word of God and teaches us the way to be happy in this world and in the next."
Then finally, Ronald Reagan, the fortieth president, faced with the threat of a godless empire spreading throughout the world and a godless philosophy spreading throughout our country noted, "America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are one nation under God then we will be one nation gone under."

Well, I think all those individuals were mistaken on
religion.
"Nobody should be conditioned from childhood about any religion, any theology, because you are destroying his freedom of search. Help him to be strong enough. Help him to be strong enough to doubt, to be skeptical about all that is believed all around him. Help him never to believe, but to insist on knowing. And whatever it takes, however long it takes, to go for the pilgrimage alone, on his own, because there is no other way to find the truth.
All others -- who think they are Christians, or they are Jews, or they are Hindus, or they are Mohammedans -- these are all believers. They don't know.
Inquiry is difficult; belief is cheap. But truth is not cheap; truth is the most valuable thing in the world.
Belief is pure poison." - Osho
Osho is an interesting man
Although he was an atheist he himself describes his enlightenment, "The moment I entered the garden everything became luminous, it was all over the place – the benediction, the blessedness. I could see the trees for the first time – their green, their life, their very sap running. The whole garden was asleep, the trees were asleep. But I could see the whole garden alive, even the small grass leaves were so beautiful.
I looked around. One tree was tremendously luminous – the maulshree tree. It attracted me, it pulled me towards itself. I had not chosen it, **god** himself has chosen it. I went to the tree, I sat under the tree. As I sat there things started settling. The whole universe became a benediction."
**He speaks of God. I have a spiritual side to my belief as well :)
To question the tyrannical motivation of the church is one thing, but to condemn all those who attend and believe is another. I am currently attending a Baptist church. Would I be comfortable in EVERY Baptist church? No. Why? Because every church is each and to it's own. The church is not the paster, the church is the members, the congregation. Our church has a Constitution, and although I believe it is not perfect, I do believe it is good and just. There are Baptist churches I do not believe are righteous, but I do not believe the church or it's people to be bad. Maybe misled but not bad.

So what you are saying
Is that you DON'T teach children about God so they can make their own decision? How can you make a dicission based on something you know nothing about?
You could compare it to not teaching children only about Republican presidents so that when they are 18 they can decide if they want to vote Democrat.
Your belief deny them free will. How can you choose if there is no choice.
In my home we teach our children about all religions, even discuss those who choose none, we just finished the Book of Mormon, last year we studied Catholicism.
Our government, our schools, our country was founded on a belief in freedom of religion (to have or have not). To deny freedom is to deny free will. To deny free will is tyranny.
If you wont fight for the right when you can easily win...you may...have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival [or] when there is no chance of victory...it's better to perish than to live as slaves.
W.Churchill
I interpret the quote a little differently
A: I would not tell my children that something is true when it reality it can't be proven so. My parents did that to me with religion.
Btw, that's really cool that you teach them different religions. Do you also go through the arguments against the existence of a supreme-being?
We've discussed the scientific outlook. They are smart kids and
have come up with a few of their own theories as well. It's funny but proof seems to be the main argument of most atheist. But it is exactly the lack of proof that enables faith. And faith has to be found or hope will be lost.
I consider Osho quotes to mean that "conviction" (either in what is or what isn't) is detrimental. Always stay open minded and eventually the truth (good or bad) will evolve.
If you wont fight for the right when you can easily win...you may...have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival [or] when there is no chance of victory...it's better to perish than to live as slaves.
W.Churchill
In that quote Osho is
In that quote Osho is actually talking specifically about so called "spiritual" truth.
But, isn't that silly to have faith in something with no proof?
I don't think so.
I have faith in many things without proof.
I noticed my type-o, I did mean in that quote. "Belief is pure poison."
In the quote I gave you regarding Osho's enlightenment, he speaks of "the benediction, the blessedness."
Who gives us these blessings?
I must say goodnight. I have enjoyed our talk :) And to you, I pray for many blessings. From where they come we may disagree...
If you wont fight for the right when you can easily win...you may...have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival [or] when there is no chance of victory...it's better to perish than to live as slaves.
