Let me get this straight...
The Mexican military has been escorting known drug dealers into our country time and time again, (nearly 200 or more) AND shooting our Border Patrol guys, AND the head of Border Patrol complained to the White House and all they got was a stupid form letter back???
I think it's time for the Border Patrol to start arresting the Military or shooting at them...this is ridiculous. How do we know they're not Terrorists posing as drug dealers?

I'm not a bit suprised,when hurricane Katrina hit the U.S. had the Mexican army helping police the streets in New Orleans.Yes there was a foreign Army policing the streets in a U.S. city.

After Katrina, Mexico offered to help with relief (this was during the time that Bush was sitting around with his thumb up his a$$). UNARMED members of Mexican military drove truckloads of supplies to New Orleans. They drove all the way to New Orleans, then were turned back (as were many other organizations offering aid).

1)Who is Mexico? I think you mean if American citizens ask Mexican citizens to help in an emergency. The idea of a group is an illusion, there are only individuals.2) Remember the government is inherently corrupt and incompetent, why would you want them to be the middle man in an emergency situation? I'll answer that for you... you wouldn't.3) government help=involuntary.....foreign individual help=voluntary.....What if the Chinese government was in an emergency that included rebellion and they needed help killing civilians who were fighting the government, and our government decides that that is situation where they deserve our help, if you are a government employee you don't have the option to say "this is not a worthy cause and im not going to help". I certainly dont want someone who doesnt want to help me to be the person i rely on for help.
There are multiple reasons why governments should not be the first people you call for help in an emergency this is only a couple. I hope i have written enough to convey my point.

My proposal to grant "amnesty"
It is obvious that we are never going to be able to remove all of the illegal immigrants currently living and working in this country.
However, I propose that anyone wanting to legalize their status should pay a fine, renounce their Mexican citizenship, and have a strict limit placed on how much money they can remit to Mexico each year, and even stricter limits on immigration from that point on. Anyone who legalizes will have to wait in line to bring their family in, and prove that they will be able to support that family economically before they can immigrate.
This would be coupled with massive tightening of actual border security by bringing the troops back to provide this security.

You don't know much about immigration, do you?
In order to become a permanent resident ("legal" as you call it), you must prove that you can support yourself and any family members you sponsor. If that person has shown the economic means to take care of him/herself, than their spouse and children are also granted residency provided they do not have a criminal record or a communicable disease. Also, people applying for permanent residency already pay "fines". Each visa application requires a fee. There are different fees for different types of visas.
Also, a person cannot renounce their citizenship to their home country upon gaining legal status in the US. Until they become US citizens, they cannot renounce their citizenship (the Mexican government, under international law, cannot honor such a renunciation because that individual would then be stateless).
Retrocon, you seem to know the difference between work visas, permanent residency, or gaining citizenship. Rather than punishing people who come here through the proper channels, why don't you address all the "freebies" that make the US such an attraction for the gate crashers?
Once a person is "legal", their rights need to be respected as much as any other American.

When an individual becomes a citizen, they have the same rights as we do. When you propose that we "limit" the money they can send to Mexico, you advocate that you can be told what to do with your money!!! There are laws and they MUST be followed. The citizens of this country fought two nations in WW2....we can oust the illegals easily. First we must do this at a local level by not supporting people who use illegal immigrants for work. I do this here at home and suggest everyone else do so. I've had words with the local farmers market about this very subject and told them I will not buy their products based on this issue. They can afford to hire americans....they simply will not do it.

I checked Wiki a a couple of years ago, and Mexico's population was listed at around 105 million.
With at least 50 million of them here in the US, that's about half their entire population that's here illegally.

The ONLY way to explain that level of illegals in this country is a PLANNED AND CONCERTED EFFORT ON THE PART OF THE US GOV'T TO IGNORE BORDER CONTROL AND PURPOSELY ALLOW OUR COUNTRY TO BE INVADED IN UNLIMITED NUMBERS.

This chart is pretty interesting if you look at the line graph which indicates how the population growth has been slowing since 1980. This could be in part due to better family planning, but I would think that this would be somewhat offset by medical advances would increase life expectancies and decrease child mortality rates.

Last time I went to Texas it was bad. I do not have problem with LEGAL immigration. I think they should lower the standards but the immigrants should learn english and assimilate into our culture instead of what they are doing now. It's sad even where I live they have to have spanish speakers working at walmart. We are going to have alot of trouble with this in the future and the liberals are to stupid to figure it out. Already it has changed the voting blocks in our country meaning the tax payers will become slaves one day to the poor lazy sob's around the world. I do not relish paying 33%+ of my income when I work 84 hours a week to pay people to sit around and keep making the same mistakes over and over.
