yeah

That guys not crazy at all.

The two-party system isn't the root of the problem

Fore example, if there were two main parties that were libertarian, we'd be doing great!

The real root is ideology, Jesse. The great majority of people believe in the vague philosophies of liberalism and conservatism...

Power Entrenched Always Corrupts Itself

For many years the political differences between the Democrats and Republicans had enough ideological separation for citizens to choose one over the other. Big government verses small government. Redistribution of wealth from excessive taxes, verses lower taxes and greater personal accountability for success or failure.

As time passed the American people became complacent with their rights and responsibilities to governing themselves. The two parties figured this out and reached across the isle of political banter not in bipartisanship, but in collusion to steal the wealth of its constituency.

What we have today is a kakistocracy of corruption, elitism and fascism at all levels of government.

Voting for a "new" Democrat or Republican candidate will not affect change, but will perpetuate the perfidy by those who we entrusted our democracy of indirect representation.

The ONLY way for America to correct itself is to vote out all Democratic and Republican incumbents and replace them with a third party candidate.

We will continue to spiral downwards into an abyss until "We the People" take hold of this new direction for ourselves and for the future of the country.

Wait you were right....

As time passed the American people became complacent with their rights and responsibilities to governing themselves.

The answer is to stop looking for crooks to fly in on Angel wings. Electing or not electing becomes moot with electronic voting machines or if the vote is counted behind closed doors.

Is a vote the only power the people have? If we think it is, we are indeed complacent with our rights and responsibilities. It is a duty to throw off tyrannical encroachment - somehow I missed the "as the proper term limit expires" in the Declaration of Independance.

It is our responsiblity to pay attention and to take action against the abuse. We've forgotten our power and people are trained to look to the government for solutions. That is like cleaning an infected wound with a Gangrene. The people are the cleansing apparatus for the government - not the other way around.

Let's examine if that is true

The ONLY way for America to correct itself is to vote out all Democratic and Republican incumbents and replace them with a third party candidate.

Okay, what if we vote in the Green Party as they are a 3rd party? We'd be moving towards socialism...

Don't Like The Green Party? Pick Another One!

No party ideology or candidate is perfect. I can live with the Constitutional Party or the Libertarian Party, as either one of these would be better than what the country has gone through in the last decade.

But what Jesse is implying is ridiculous

He's saying that as long as it's a 3rd party, it doesn't matter which one, the problems are going to be solved. What a naive view...

The problem is philosophical. That's why I won't support the Green Party.

As long as it is breaking the monopoly of the two party system,

it is positive. The stranglehold must be broken.

p

and the government

and the government indoctrination centers (public schools) teach that very thing.. the problem is the 2 party system sucks and controls the political system.. the elite give you 2 choices.. both of whom they would want in power because they own both parties!

as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD

And why does the government educators teach that?

Because it's the intellectual norm.

"the problem is the 2 party system sucks and controls the political system"
As I just pointed out, that's not the root of the problem!
Jeepers...

If it's the intellectual norm...

how did it get to that point? I don't think it's always been there. Propaganda and political agendas are how we got to this norm, isn't it? Falsified intelligence and power struggles over many years, as well as a recent few, all which are carried out to the detriment of the nation's public? The drug war, Iraq war, our current monetary system and government regulation of education are just a few examples. I agree, the two-party system is not the cause, merely the weapon of choice, but a motive behind the attacker seems necessary if we're examining the root of the problem.

I think the people believing in vague constructions of liberalism vs conservatism seems indicative of a lack of curiosity and a certain amount of groupthink among those who have bothered to think that far. Vague idealogical interpretations seem susceptible to manipulation based on whichever favorable way the winds are blowing, which happens in any society that votes or operates on choice.

It's easy to bemoan the state of our society's intellectual apathy, but what often is forgotten is the sheer force of propaganda that Americans deal with on a day-to-day basis, more so than most countries in the world. While this doesn't excuse those who are presented with the truth in a logical and rational manner and who decide to turn away without challenging themselves to confirmation, and I find myself unendingly frustrated by the actions and words of my fellow Americans, I have to remember that I, too, used to be ignorant and "intellectually lazy," as it were. The numbers of Dr. Paul's Unplugged seems testament to the amount of people ready for a drastic change. It seems like it's the intellectual norm by choice of the power elite and by a certain amount of complacency on the part of the American public and our politicians alike.

And thus, long live the CFL!

...creepers.

For liberty!! *gong*

Um, yes it is...

If the 2-parties didn't have control over our political system, then libertarians would get on the ballots and in the debates and have equal time and money to spread their message.

The people in this country think there are only 2 parties for the most part, and that the other parties are just hacks and kooks. Why do they think that? Because they don't get to hear the message.

Even RP, who was a member of the RNC, got marginalized and had no where near equal time in the debates or in the media. This is the same thing they do to the 3rd parties. They don't even get to participate in the debates, so how can they get their message out?

I agree that the problem is ideology, but how do you get the correct ideology (libertarian) into the main stream if all they push is democrat or republican?

I disagree

If libertarian principles were popular than the problem of getting on to ballots would disappear.

Right now, there is not much demand for libertarianism because the majority of people are ignorant of economics and political philosophy.

I agree...

That people are ignorant. But why are they ignorant? Because of the techniques employed by the 2 parties. They control the debates, the media, the ballots, everything.

People are ignorant because they don't hear about any other options and they are dumbed down by public school and corporate controlled media. These are all tactics employed by the 2 parties in power.

But, why do the 2 main parties employ those techniques?

I don't find your looking at the root cause.

The 2 main parties employ those techniques out of self-interest.
The 2 main parties got formed because people wanted a party to represent their ideology of liberalism and some others wanted the same for their ideology of conservatism.

Also, I agree that people are dumbed down by the gov't schools and the media...But it's not deliberate. The gov't educational bureaucrats and the media newspeople are also very deluded themselves when it comes to economics and political philosophy!
