The fowlling statement needs to be brought up at the convention to help the Mcain delagets realize what kind of person Mcain really is................A "disturbed state of mind"?
Rising sales of U.S.-made cigarettes to Iran may be "a way of killing 'em," said John McCain, Republican presidential candidate.
"Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said: "McCain's crude remark on the indiscriminate killing of the Iranian nation not only testifies to his disturbed state of mind, but also to his warmongering approach to foreign policy."

No Big Deal
It shows him to be crude, irresponsible and of questionable principles. Yup, sounds like a real leader to me.
Well I hope the LaRaza speeches are also
brought up at convention!!

I disagree
I fail to read very much into what was obviously intended as a crude joke.
I giggled a little at it...didn't you?
It is a funny Joke to a ignorant red neck..
Who lived in the same area and is brainwashed. Who doesn't know from experience that people from other countries are human beings. And, they would probably like them if they sat down to dinner with then.
So it is a funny joke about 1/2 of America..

I have a hard time
understanding how we can hate a whole people group because (presumeably) their leader is wacked. My goodness...Americans must truly be despised if this is the prevailing logic.
Yes! And then to have a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE JOKE
about killing people in a foreign land is NOTHING to laugh at!!!
What MUST they think of us????

Big difference
Selling cigarettes to people is hardly killing them. It's failing to prevent them from killing themselves.
Have a sense of humor. No one is doing anything against their will when they fire up a smoke. It's as harmful as saying that cigarettes promote natural selection because only the stupid people smoke.
I can freely say this because i'm a non-smoker of about 45 days now. I knew full well what they were doing to me, and so do the Iranians who light up.
What must they think of us??? They can think what they want, but i'll be damned if i'm going to stop laughing at things that I find funny because someone else will be offended. Sorry, I reject politically correct facism.

under normal circumstances
I wouldn't think much about it. But since he is the candidate, he really needs to clean up his act a bit. I don't see it as a deal breaker. But he is a deal breaker in so many ways, this particular incident is inconsequential to me. Plus, I am really kind of sick of roasting people for every single word out of their mouths. He was definitely joking. What ever happened to free speech and "don't be insulted." Turn your back on people who speak badly for any reason and in any way, don't take it upon yourself to straighten him out, get him fired, etc. I admire people who refuse to be insulted, like Dr. Paul. He ignores the insults and there have been so many. I consider him very, very strong and courageous for his attitude. I consider it to be a mark of a great leader. I think his comment is definitely worth posting about, because so much is made of every word out of a person's mouth these days that we really need to come to grips with how we handle that.
I disagree. I think as a
I disagree. I think as a Presidential Candidate, or President, every word that comes out of your mouth casts a certain reality about you. If John McCain is serious about being president, he first needs to give up his life long dream of making it in stand up comedy. Killing human beings is no joke, especially when such comments can further inflame the butt of the joke, in this case Iran, and nudge us one more step to armageddon.

What part of
"But since he is the candidate, he really needs to clean up his act a bit," didn't you understand. I have said twice in this thread that it is because he is a candidate for president that he cannot express this crude sense of humor. So you are not disagreeing with me. Your post should say, "I agree."
They like Bush....
so what makes you think they would have a problem with McCain?
They think Bush is doing a damn fine job running this country.
A fine job running it indeed!
Running it right into the ground.

I think he is
disturbed. Peace
It is his sick sense of humor
Do we persecute a guy for his crude, rude sense of humor? He was joking. But I agree it speaks to what he has on his mind. Many people think the only way to deal with Muslims wanting to "kill the infidel" is to kill all the worshipers of the Koran. And he is the presidential candidate, he needs to use more discretion in his sense of humor. Plus we know he is a hot head who has his finger on the red button, not a good combination.
HUMOR????
I think this is his state of mind. This guy is a true warmonger that's what he lives for. His stay at the Hanoi Hilton made his mind unstable as I think it would most men. We dont need someone like this being part of our goverment, and certinaly not our leader.
I agree
I think his mind is unstable and this is certainly NOT what I call humor, but he was trying to joke, unsuccessfully. Many men have a very warped sense of humor as far as I am concerned. Even when they have not been in his circumstances. If he was not a presidential candidate, I would just write him off, but as a candidate, he has to rise above.
