I watched your video and and looked up the students in the White Rose organization. It really inspired me. I have read lots of books on WWII from treatment of Jews, POW's in Germany and Japan, to heroism in Germany under Hitler. The story of these students really encouraged me and made me think about our country and how hard it is to share "truth" with anyone. I would like to say I am a Christian fanatic, 9/11 questioner, freedom lover and a Ron Paul supporter. I will not force any of my beliefs on you, because only you can decide those things for yourself. It seems on DP you get ridiculed for being a Christian or even questioning 9/11 so I don't speak of it much. I love reading the posts and watching the videos here. I do challenge those that read this to not follow the majority and look into things for yourself. 911 just doesn't add up.
To those in Germany, I say thank you for believing in Ron Paul and the rEVOLution!
you feel ridiculed with your believes. We all have Ron Paul as a role model for someone speaking his mind on important issues gently and without ridiculing other people. And I personally find it amazing, how diverse and even contradictory the backgrounds and beliefs of the people supporting Ron Paul are. You have christians and atheists, homosexuals and "homophobes", pacifists and gun-lovers and so on. And actually the diversity of people fighting for liberty shows me you are on the right track. And it really can teach you to respect other people views, though you don't share them.
Apart from the occasional disinformant we should simply assume our fellowpaulites are honest in their strife for liberty, but we are not here to persuade them to adopt our other personal convictions.
Times are to serious to waste energy for infighting.
I always try to view everyone's opinion with an open mind whether I agree with them or not! That's just what they think and I can choose to believe or not believe it at will. That's what's so great about America!!! And that's why this country is WORTH SAVING!!!!!!!!! RON PAUL ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!
They mentioned at the March in DC that Germany was having their own March and the crowd went nuts!!!
Gave you chills knowing the kind of support that is out there!
"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"
Want to know what's being said in those Polish threads? Perhaps you think you should learn Mandarin, the way things are going!
Here's a great resource for learning languages: The Rosetta Stone. Yes, I know. You might find a better price through Amazon or ebay. Their system is easy and fun, and good for any age -- my kids started studying French using this system when they were 4 and 6, yet it's just as great for adults.
If you can't just up and move to your country of interest, immersive education is the way to go for foreign language study.
Now I just need a course that tells me how to find all those accent characters on my keyboard...
You guys really get it that is amazing. You guys have no idea how important you are to your country. Teach everyone you know everything you know. Man that gave me goosebumps hearing their answers. Thank you for getting that on video. Don't worry about being a minority remember your a little brush fire but the flames will grow as you touch people. You guys make me so proud of you my heart is full of joy as I watch you guys stand up for your beliefs. thats just amazing Amazing!
They all had an accent!! Actually, I think they speak English extremely well--especially that one guy. They all seem to have the essence of the movement well in mind.
I can't let Dr. Paul go back to congress. He must be president.
Even the literal translation "Stoßen fuer (für-don't forget the nice 'Umlaut) Freiheit" sounds weird. 'Bump' in this meaning isn't tranlatable (yet). Stupid machine.
It would make life easier if those translators actually did work. The real test would be to start with language A, translate into language B, then translate back into language A and see if it makes still makes sense ;-)
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
French each quarter. My instructor was always impressed, but the only way I could write them was to think about what I wanted to say in English and then try and translate it from there. Kind of like Ricky Ricardo, I think of it in my own language and then translate it into the other!!! LOL
I have been educated more in British (and Irish) English. And in Germany we much more worry about "liguistic perfection" as you do. I really had to laugh about what's written in this article, fanofwalt http://www.howtogermany.c... , because it's so true.
well as Germans and Germany! Some of my ancestors came to America from Germany and I'm beginning to think their work ethic was hereditary since I seem to have the same sort of traits. I always wondered where that came from...now I think I know!! Danke!
No, no; it's, "worry about linguistic perfection THAN you do." Sheesh, try to learn a little grammar, would you??
(that's sarcasm, which doesn't always translate in text.)
Hey, have you seen this book, Colongepaulista? I'd bet you'd love it! I've owned it for years, and still crack up at it.
Here's something else that makes me laugh out loud: my old German language school textbook. Its title: "Deutsch fur Amerikaner". Ha! We evidently need a specialized edition!!
As I said (incorrectly, now that I think about it), fanofwalt kennt alles. Actually, that should be, "fanofwalt weiss alles (dang, I don't know how to make the esset; that "B"-shaped double-s character). "Kennen" and "wissen" both mean "to know," but "kennen" has more of the meaning of knowing someone, rather than knowledge.
That was an interesting article Colognepaulist(a) posted. Funny, I noticed something in the video that was alluded to in the article which I only read after viewing the video: one of the supporters had stated why he supported RP, then as the camera started to turn from him, he caught the cameraman and made a very small -- but important to him! -- correction in how he stated his words. Precision!
Another German text I had was called, "Deutschland ist Anders" -- which translates to, "Germany is different!" I wonder how their (American) English language texts are titled over there. Perhaps there's one entitled, "Americans: Oh, Those Kooky Kids!"
had their 'a' cut off? My screen name is longer than that and it didn't get cut off!
I may have to go back and watch the video again, I'm not sure if I caught what you were referring to. What caught me off guard the most was that everyone there spoke English -- and pretty fluently at that! I think the one thing that is really backwards in this country -- regarding other languages -- is that we don't really LEARN them because we don't HAVE to and it kind of urks me that there is such a lack of learning other languages and learning about the people that speak them. I start thinking about the French I took in college and realize that it is pathetically little! I mean, my French teacher was from France and she spoke French throughout the whole class time and it was rare that she ever explained anything in English. In fact, I think she only switched to explain something in English ONCE during the 9 months of class I had with her! And I'd STILL be lost if I were trying to talk to someone! The sad thing is that a year's worth of a foreign language in college is worth TWO years in high school! I learned TWICE as much in HALF the time and it STILL wouldn't help much! Unless, of course, I were reading it and could pick out the words.
I don't think it's any wonder that foreigners think we're a bit nutty!! I wouldn't be surprised if they did use textbooks calling us kooks!! LOL Well, maybe a little surprised! ;-)
Wow
If we can get Paul addicts all over the green Earth, then we are really onto something.
