I was walking into a bar on the west side of detroit where my band was playing and a couple of guys were obviously trashed. Black guys. i'd Seen them at the bar a few times , they are friends of the owner.
We play hard rock stuff.
the day crowd usually leaves when the band comes in because they don't like the music style.
last night was different we went to set up and we did a couple of tunes to get ready and run our sound check.
This is when it got stupid. i was standing at the bar stoned sober and they were talking about Obama like he was a saint andI told them wht I thought about the FISA thing. It got stupid after that. suddenly i was confronted with two angry black guys who thought I was talking about some racial crap !
i didn't have time to explain my situation and felt a solid right fist hit me in the side of the face. My friends jumped in and the rest it is a blur until the cops showed up. we didn't play last night though.
People are starting to lose control over the simplest things. so be careful out there :(
I had a good time at the march though :) flat tire in virginia but we made it about 6 pm.

Darn, this was totally blown out of proportion! I hope your face is OK. You didn't do anything wrong. It's a shame that some people think they're in the Stone Age where religion, sex and politics are all taboo. So, nowadays if another person disagrees with you, you're going to insult or get violent with that person (not referring to you obviously)? Geeze, what this world is coming to. We can't have a civilized conversation anymore it seems :(

If I'm drunk in a bar with my friends, and someone interrupts my conversation to tell me that Ron Paul is a racist... I just might hit them!!!!
Your argument fails because you are generalizing something that isn't black and white. It's a bar where people go to get drunk--we're not talking about the bus stop or Starbucks--why can't you comprehend this?
Have you ever stepped inside a bar? It's filled with loud, obnoxious, intoxicated people who are highly emotional and can change their moods in a flash. In addition, if these people are in the bar getting drunk during the day, more than likely they have more than a few problems--therefore political conversations should be avoided--common sense.
Hopefully those guys didn't get into too much trouble because of this guys inability to read situations. Remember, there are always 2 sides to every story....

Did you read the poster's story? He said they were obviously trashed, he was setting up for the evening gig, and the day crowd usually leaves when the band starts to play. So tell me, what am I assuming?
The poster butted into a conversation with a group of drunk black guys talking about Obama in Detroit. Yes, he deserved what he got.
Actually, if the poster wants to blame someone, why not blame the owner of the bar? Back in the 60's and 70's many bars in America banned people from having political conversations for this exact same reason.
Alcohol and politics don't mix!

My daughter went home to san diego and I came back to michigan.there were only a few small problems .they had a road block checking id 's leaving DC and we got pulled over in toledo but we asked them what the problem was and they let us go. they asked me for ID and asked them what the charge was :) they asked me to step out of the truck and I asked them am I free to go ? they said yes of course ! never get out of your vehicle and never offer your ID !! they can ask you but you don't have to give it. learn the law!!

It's funny but everyone I know who isn't voting for Obama, isn't voting for him because of their fear (and rightly so) that he will raise taxes.
Everyone I know who is voting for Obama is doing so because he is black.
