Obama campaign spokesman Hari Sevugan responded by saying: “The question for John McCain isn’t whether Phil Gramm will continue as chairman of his campaign, but whether he will continue to keep the economic plan that Gramm authored and that represents a continuation of the polices that have failed American families for the last eight years.

I don't agree with the premise of this thread.
A person's intelligence should not come into play when choosing a
Representative, in my opinion. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule.
Didn't the Founding Fathers want everyday citizens to be part of the government? Shouldn't the only "test" to be a Representative of the people, is that you support and defend the Constitution, as Ron Paul does. If Ron Paul was not college educated and a Doctor, I would still support him. You do not have to be college educated or an intellectual to understand the Constitution. The problem is that our "dumb" representatives like Bush, or our "smart" representatives like Obama(some say), do not follow the Constitution.
It makes me nervous when people want an intellectual elite to run our country under the premise that they will make the "right" decisions. The "right" decisions to make are in the Constitution,as RP has showed many of us, and you do not need a PHD. or go to a ivy league school to understand this.
The belief that humans have, that certain individuals who are more intelligent, wealthier, better looking, charismatic, etc. , makes them "superior" and more capable to lead the rest of us, is a fallacy which leads to totalitarianism.
The answers to our problems as a nation are to follow the Constitution, support individual liberty, and truly free markets. Any American can understand this and represent these views in government.
ooh...good points
While W clearly prides himself of the point time and time again that its not what you know but who you know-and really thats what is so disgusting here- youre absolutely right. Intelligence and wisdom are 2 entirely different things- he sadly lacks both. A candidate with wisdom and integrity can surround himself with an intelligent cabinet and be a great leader. None of us knows everything- so intellect isnt the key- the ability to make wise decisions with the information provided to you by a well-picked staff IS.

stupidity combined with evil mass murder is fine as long as the guy has PHD

to start a talk with a McCain supporter.

It's not his IQ that is the problem....
It is his/their total lack of a conscience.

O-----M------Goodness!!!
Is this a complete wreck----or WHAT???!!!
Not only did Bush and McCain
Not only did Bush and McCain do poorly at college, they both had a lot of help getting in.
Do you think Bush, with his academic ability, would have gone to Yale if he was a coal miner's son rather than son of a congressman/President and grandson of a Senator?
Do you think McCain would have made it into the Naval Academy with his limited intellect if he'd had to compete on even ground with good students rather than getting a free pass because his father and grandfather were 4-star Admirals?
If these clowns had been forced to make it on their own, rather than based on money, family name, and connections, I doubt either of them would have risen further than Manager of the Pet Department at Walmart...

Important distinction
Bush was NOT a "C" student.
He was awarded a "Gentleman's C". If you don't know what that means, go look it up.
I have this information directly from a highly-respected physician who went to Yale with W and in fact was study buddies with him. He told stories about how W was always falling asleep in the library during their study sessions...
Even if W has genius IQ, it doesn't matter. One can be highly intelligent and still be dumb as a doorknob. Trust me. And, one can easily feign ignorance when they are truthfully highly intelligent.
Conversely, one can use their genius for evil, as we all know.

Ron Paul's Estimated IQ Score Range: 130 - 140
Ron Paul's Estimated IQ Score Range: 130 - 140
http://www.kids-iq-tests....
Lewis Terman (1916) developed the original notion of IQ and proposed this scale for classifying IQ scores:
Over 140 - Genius or near genius
120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence
80 - 89 - Dullness
70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency
Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness
High IQ & Genius IQ
Genius IQ is generally considered to begin around 140 to 145, representing ~.25% of the population (1 in 400). Here's a rough guide:
115-124 - Above average (e.g., university students)
125-134 - Gifted (e.g., post-graduate students)
135-144 - Highly gifted (e.g., intellectuals)
145-154 - Genius (e.g., professors)
155-164 - Genius (e.g., Nobel Prize winners)
165-179 - High genius
180-200 - Highest genius
>200 - "Unmeasurable genius"

I am drinking beer
and my IQ is heading towards Ron's LOL

After seeing that... I have little doubt..
Bush is smarter than he appears.
You can't watch that, and tell me - that wasn't a concerted effort... repetition, repetition...911, 911, terrorism, terrorism, osama bin laden, 911...
What is the point of continually telling America, you were a C student? - So they think you're an idiot.... Now why would you want America to think you're an idiot?
Because it's a damn lot easier to pass of an event like 911 of as ineptness, stupidity etc. It's a damn lot easier to sell a war on terrorism, and the destruction of the constitution... if the people think he's just an idiot - they're going to feel less worried; and be a whole lot more accepting than if the guy has a Masters degree.
I mean seriously, if he had a PHD in International Relations... how easy would it be, to bypass diplomacy? How much harder is it going to be, to go Bomb Iran - instead of talk to them?
If he had a PHD in economics.. you think the American people are going to accept just as easily, that the economy is tanking by itself?
BUSH is the fall guy. He cops all the blame. It's part of the game. The democrats are meant to be something different; but they're not.
*sigh*.. I dunno, he plays being an idiot SO damn well.. he deserves an oscar. But really, it wouldn't be too hard at all - if that's what you set out too do... i.e After the press conference.. go to a locked door, and try open it... all that stuff ain't hard to fake.
But him being an idiot certainly plays into the elites / administrations hands..
IMO, "C student" at Yale is not dumb!
Besides, I've always considered the "dumb" jokes a cop out. He's trying to pass himself off as being "average," not a member of the elite. He may be unwise and morally bankrupt, but he's not ignorant of the system. He's a fine actor who's trying, with his cadre, to deflect serious blame for his many, many transgressions. Straight out of the Bill Clinton playbook!
conza
you made some great points.
at the same time it has to be remembered that Bush was an alcoholic cocaine user in his youth and therefore I think he does not have to be an actor in being dumb. The elite chose a dumb guy.
And now I am terrified that a great con artist FISA actor Obama versus dumb evil Mr napalm bomb McSame...

You hit the nail on the head conza
