Question to Those Who Say the GOP is Done...
To those who say the GOP is done…
What’s your plan then to capitalize on their demise? I keep hearing this so I want to know what the plan is and why should I join you in it?
Why do you think it viable and what evidence do you have to support your premise?
How long do you think it will take?
How do you plan to gain enough control on the national scene to effect change and again what evidence is there to support such a premise?
What party/vehicle/strategy do you plan to use to reach what ever goals you may have in this plan?
How far are you in this plan and what results do you have to show it is working?
Why is it better then the strategy of taking back the GOP which already has significant positive results despite the set backs.
As I said I hear a lot of passionate debate on this so try and convert me to your plan? I am not interested in the GOP’s past deeds I am only interested in what vehicle can get us to our goals of restoring the constitution and freedom the fastest in the current political climate. If you feel you have a better way convert us.
Most of you know where I stand on this already that is no secret, however these are sincere genuine questions that I feel need to be answered so people can make informed decisions on what direction to go. So please let’s try and answer and counter intelligently despite our passion…

There has been some good
There has been some good comments so far, and I do appreciate them however no one has really answered my questions except very partially.
I am looking for those who think the GOP is done, and what their strategy is in lieu of the GOP. IMissLiberty partially answered but has not told me why it’s viable and how it compares to the strategy of taking back the GOP, and what results it has gotten etc. via my questions
I also don’t want this to devolve into a debate over Barr v Baldwin etc. in fact it’s not really about who to vote for president, but about how and what plan, strategy, and vehicle those who refuse to work within the GOP (for what ever reason) have to accomplish our goals.

An indicator
This won't answer your inquiry to satisfaction, but I do think it is indicative of the party's death.
We all know nobody is excited about InSane. Here's yet another article today, this one about a new AP/Yahoo poll:
Of course, most of the Dem's excitement stems from not knowing what the heck they're supporting, outside of that nebulous code word, "change." But without a huge throng of supporters heralding the party's top choice (yecchh), the GOP will not only fail this season, but likely die out as a species, so to speak. Really hard to build up excitement once you've jumped the shark, and this party can't even do that much anymore. Too tiring.
Unless r3volutionaries get in there to resuscitate the party and return it to what it was originally intended to be, I strongly suspect the GOP is in its death throes.
It is self-evident that only
It is self-evident that only Paul can unite us all under one banner. The PTB will and has tried desperately to stymie his effect. In some if not many cases retaking your local GOP is not feasible and the GOP in those regions will suffer. In these states an alternative is necessary but influential critical mass is still necessary for any alternate party to make progress.
Some people have hang ups with both the CP and LP. If you are one of these people then you need a vehicle. Many states already have state parties which are lesser known entities. You would have to do you own research to see if one is right for you and you will have to do whatever you can to make them viable yourself.

I am waiting for the convention. I believe Ron Paul will tell us what we need to do.
I AM the GOP now
What we started this election we finish in 2 years. Of course, we need Ron Paul elected to give us those 2 years...
The GOP is being REINVIGORATED and brought back to its roots. It lost its way, I am leading it back home.
HELP ME! :)
WE are the GOP Now
I am an Alternate to the republican national convention.
I succeeded in winning an influential post in the GOP regional structure.
I'm right there with you. There are certainly more of us who haven't chimed in.
Many people are not up to the rigors of staying on this GOP mission, but if we keep our wits about us we'll have people in the influential positions to prevent the stuff that happened in Nevada from happening again.
We are a simple people, unaccustomed to the rigors of politics. Everyone has a role to play. We should definitely stay connected at the local, state and national levels.
Please identify how we can connect off Daily Paul.
I think Dr. Paul had the right idea...
He ran as a libertarian candidate in 1988. He barely got any votes. As a GOP candidate he got over a million. I know some of it has to do with the differences in the condition of our liberties, economy, etc., but in order to beat the big boys I think we have to play within their system. Their system does not allow for a 3rd party candidate to have a chance.
The GOP is shrinking and losing elections. I think a take-over is the way to go.
What am I doing about it? Nothing right now. I'm a victim of the mortgage meltdown... in more ways than one. I worked in the mortgage industry and made good money during the wild, wild west days...but I had to switch companies 3 times in 4 years because the lender or broker I was working for went out of business.
So now, I'm unemployed and I'm about to lose my own house to foreclosure. I have no money, and I spend most of my time looking for a job that can replace almost a 6-figure income. Not easy in this economy, I assure you.
But...
Either way, once I get back on my feet, I plan on getting involved in my local GOP here in AL.
In the case where folks can
In the case where folks can still operate within the GOP they should. Some people either cannot or will not for whatever reason. Many I'm sure can and will be going the LP and CP.
What I purpose is the creation or the reinforcement of state parties. My concept is for a "Bull Whip" state party which would be more inline with Paul's ideology than either the CP or LP. This is because my states GOP is established and entrenched beyond what anyone I know can cope with.
Over the next two years the Bull Whips would whip elected officials by holding a constant voter block that can make or break elected officials and future candidates.
Nation wide validation is not necessary for 2010 and may not be necessary anyway depending on how things play out and the state parties can still coalition if the need arises.

I have been thinking for some time what to do. My strategy at present is get involved in my local community. Signed up to work at the election poll, signed up to be delegate (find out in Aug.). Went to a local gop party meeting and plan on going to our township meetings.
I plan on staying with Dr. Paul. After seeing how poorly attended the local gop party is I think we still have an opportunity to take the party back.
My problem though is, sitting there while Mclame is being pushed. There is no way I can give money or promote him. LOL
I don't have a problem with the Libertarians except their candidate. I understand he just voted for FISA bill. I don't know if that is true. He may
be a decent man but I find it curious how MSM is being so good to him and was so rotten to Dr. Paul. Guess I'm a bit paranoid.
If Dr. Paul does not get the nomination on the Republican ticket. I will most likely vote for Chuck Baldwin I think he is a man of integrity and would seek Dr. Paul's in put on what to do. I am sure Baldwin wouldn't win but I wouldn't have to hold my nose to vote.
I like your thread because it is giving me an opportunity to organize my thoughts and acknowledge that out of all the confusion I actually have a plan. After the election (if there is an election) I am not sure what to do.

Re the Media being rotten to Dr. Paul
It is possible that the media are "good" to Barr to be "rotten" to Dr. Paul, and/or because they think Barr can't win, so no harm done. It's possible that they are "good" to Barr (and to Dr. Paul) more lately, because they can cause problems for McCain. Besides, the race isn't that close, and the election season has been running long, and they're running out of stories.
I think one of the reasons Barr waited so late to announce is he didn't want to rain on Dr. Paul's parade if he began to gain in the primaries.
My strategy overall hasn't changed: I'm advocating for libertarian candidates no matter what party they hale from. I really hope the GOP delegates will nominate Dr. Paul, but if they don't, I'll vote the message anyway.
I can think of nothing better than having to choose between freedom-loving candiates.
