McCain alerts Iraqis to Obama's trip to Baghdad

"DETROIT (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Friday that his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama, is likely to be in Iraq over the weekend.

The Obama campaign has tried to cloak the Illinois senator's trip in some measure of secrecy for security reasons. The White House, State Department and Pentagon do not announce senior officials' visits to Iraq in advance."

Basically the desperation of the McCain campaign is showing their only hope of winning is for something to happen to Obama.

I think with all the new violence in Afghanistan, McCain should take a trip there :)

Oboma will be joined on his trip by several news journalists --

News organizations have tripped over each other to get coverage deals for the trip with the Obama campaign. ABC's Charles Gibson, NBC's Brian Williams and CBS' Katie Couric, the top three news anchors of US network television, have already cut deals to follow Obama's footsteps next week in Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and Britain.

In all, some 200 journalists are vying for 40 accredited spots to accompany the 46-year-old candidate on his foreign trip, according to The Washington Post.

Doesn't sound like Obomba's trying to keep this a "discreet" visit.

It does, however, sound like sour grapes on InSane's part, when you consider this quote from the same article:

McCain's own trip to Europe and the Middle East in March did not trigger a media firestorm of interest. Asked about the trip Friday by USA Today, Charles Black, one of McCain's top advisers, said his team would ask television networks to give both candidates equal air time.

InSane isn't spilling any beans. He's just one of Gramm's whiners. ;)

stay the course, comrade

I'm sure one Barack H. Obama will get the lowdown from General Westmoreland on the "conditions on the ground" in Iraq and have his "come to Molech" moment and make those "refinements" to his Iraq policy that he's been meaning to.

hahaha

Oh wow, I can just picture poor Obama in Iraq, hearing a McCain saying that on a television in the background. Obama turning around in shock and running to find somewhere to hide.

What a joke

McCain probably notified his buddies down there to take Obama into neighborhoods that have nice shiny new playgrounds, kids playing, no sense of violence in the area. Clean shops, "staged" happy people milling around. This would give Obama the impression all is cool in Iraq.

-or-

They'll take him into areas (areas they would never take McCain into) that would scare the crap out of him and he won't pull the troops out.
