Why didn't Ron Paul go visit the troops?

I now see Obombya over there "shooting hoops" with the troops.
Why did RP not go over there, if he had more donations from the troops than anyone else.
I hate to play the hindsight game,but it seems like a trip overseas would have made a pretty powerful statement.
Just makes me question his campaign staff even more...

I am not saying RP should
I am not saying RP should have gone to Iraq to see whether the war was Constitutional,but to show unity with the overwhelming amount of support he received FROM the troops.
But yeah, I guess you're right. Why take chances? Let's just stay in our homes and twiddle our thumbs.
I would venture that he was safer with an armed contingent in Iraq,then he was walking around the Country with NO security detail.

I'll admit that I wondered the same thing as you---and still do. I think it's just not Ron Paul's style. I think Ron Paul only went overseas once for a quasi-political event---and that was something fantastically brainy like celebrating the translation of some Austrian economist into another language! Gotta love it. I really hope that Ron Paul will do a tour of Europe---I'm sure that he's reached so many people over there who are starved for a message based on freedom.

he would be a sitting duck to be killed by friendly fire, just by his positions on war's is the best medicine our troop's can hear especially to those who have been over there on 5 different rotations that would be maddening.
Also he has NEVER taken a paid junket overseas at taxpayer's expense,so why would he start now.
It just amazes me the stupidity of those who are supporting Obama or McInsane these two went over there to campaign this should tell there supporter's that there prime concerns will be foreign instead of domestic again the USA takes the back seat, Un-believable !!!!
that is a tough one
noone is more clearly anti-iraq war than Ron Paul. Perhaps had he gone it may have been spun as disheartening to the troops. There are 2 realities. 1 is that we back the troops and we are proud of them. The other is that they were lied to and should not be in harms way in an unjust war. Unless RP is willing to encourage them to fight like hell and win- he had no business being there. Anything less than a book on this question is oversimplifying tho.

Facts are someone foots the bill for Mccain and Obama's trips . Ron does not believe you should pay for it . Mccain and Obama are trying to Justify the war not bring a warm fuzzy feeling to the troops. At risk of being overly simplistic.

As I recall, the gist of it was...I do not have to go there to know what the right thing to do is.

If Dr. Paul went to visit the troops, he would have been given a unit to visit an escort, told who to talk to. So he would only get information from the select few who were ordered what to say. Have you noticed when a high ranking person goes to meet the troops, he is always given a high ranking officer to escort him around with a "security staff". you don't hardly ever see a high ranking official talking with the warriors, like a PFC, corporal, Sargent.

I'm glad he has devoted his time to busily hopping about our country, getting his message out to hundreds of thousands of people who hadn't yet heard his message.

If military approval was needed
It would seem like an easy decision,since he had more support than anyone else.
Plus,you would think the C.O.s would feel it would be good for morale.
