WHAT ARE THE CHANCES of Bush declaring Martial Law in 2008?

With all of the talk of impeachment and war crimes prosecution, things are not looking very good for Dubya. He has signed a Presidential Directive entitled "Continuity of Government" which suspends elections and makes him Dictator-in-Chief.

RP's latest article seems to hint that something big is about to happen. What do you think the chances are that Bush will declare Martial Law in 2008?

Chances Are Good

I think the chances are favorable to something around the DNC and W throwing down the order 51 and proclaiming himself to dictator over the United States which is what order 51 is.It places him over all branches of Governmnet in the event of a (broad brush definition) catastrophe.

Little steps

Something may well happen before Nov, but I doubt they'll call it martial law. It'll be just another small step in the the grand plan. I reckon expanded financial regulations will be the cover.

I would think....

...that "they" have a contingency plan. IF...they cannot provoke the 100-year war with Iran they so desperately crave, between now and November, I would seriously expect another "terrorist attack" on US soil. Each one has been bigger than the previous...so I'd be looking for a biological weapon to kill a couple hundred thousand....Kansas City or something...and golly!! FEMA would be right on top of things!!!! No more screw-ups like in Katrina/Rita...no sir-ree...just come to the "innoculation center nearest you"...thru the 4 rows of fencing...and we at FEMA already have an antidote!!! The concentration camps haven't been built for nothing...and they can't come to round us all up for orderly disposal...they'll get us to come to them! And yes, Martial Law would be declared and all elections suspended indefinitely.
No, I don't see ANY difference between Obama, McCain, Hitlery, Barr, etc. My very first draw to the Ron Paul camp was the fact that he's NOT A LAWYER! Who gets into office next is of no importance...unless it's RP.

Warning

Bush is "not nice", let me put it that way, and in the "deepest sense"!

Just received this late Sat. night

The following is one article in a newsletter called the "Privateer".

INSIDE THE UNITED STATES
THE END OF US LAW

In a deeply disturbing article in the New York Times, published on July 16, journalist Adam Liptak
reported that on July 15, the Virginia Federal Appeals Court ruled in a 5-4 decision that President Bush
has the legal power to order the indefinite military detention of civilians captured in the United States.
Please read that again: “The indefinite military detention of civilians!” Mr Liptak’s article proceeds to
the legal particulars of this case, but they are clear enough in his outline. Undeveloped, regrettably, are
the enormous principles involved here. The accused in the case is a foreign national - residing legally in
the US - who was arrested by the civilian authorities in 2001. After about two years in civilian courts
hands, he was transferred to the US military by the simple means of re-designating him as a “terrorist”.
He has been in military hands ever since. In terms of the principles involved, the true importance of this
case is that the Appeals Court has opened the door wide for the US Administration to have the civilian
authorities arrest people and then transfer them on their own say-so to US military authorities. Once that
is done, they can be held indefinitely! The Appeals Court ruling was wide enough to apply to Americans.
Mr Liptak headlined his story precisely enough: “Court Backs Bush On Military Detentions”.

De Facto - US Martial Law Is Imposed:

In principle, the Rule of Law has hereby ended inside the United States. When the civilian courts simply
hand people over to US military authorities who have expressed an “interest” in them, the Rule of Law is
no more. Such an act by the US civilian courts vacates the space specifically reserved for them in the
American Constitution. They have vacated their position as the third independent branch of government.
There are now two systems of courts inside the United States. The civilian courts which, under this
ruling, will stand as a forward screen giving a facade of normalcy. One step behind them will be the US
military authorities which can demand the hand-over of anybody in civilian custody - and the civilian
courts will comply. Under this ruling, who is to decide which people should be so treated? The US
Executive Branch of government. By this ruling, the Executive Branch has in its hands the means with
which to incarcerate anybody, simply on its own say-so, and hold them indefinitely! That is a tyranny!
It is with a haunting sense of intellectual anticipation that The Privateer has to refer back to the front page
of our previous issue where we dealt precisely with the nature of Martial Law. The real form of martial
law arrives when the US military itself gains the power to arrest American and all other civilians.
The Very Last Line(s) Of Self-Defence:

This ruling by the Federal Virginia Court of Appeal is certain to travel to the US Supreme Court. But it
might not even be heard - if the Supreme Court decides not to hear this case. If that is the outcome, then
in full legal terms it is all over because the lower Federal Appeal Court’s decision will stand.
If the US Supreme Court does hear the case and decides to overturn the lower Appeal Court, then all is
well and the US military and its jails have, for the moment, been parked on the sidelines. But, in hearing
this case, if the US Supreme Court upholds the lower Federal Court, then it is most certainly all over. The
United States would become a tyranny under permanent Martial Law. The Commander in Chief rules.
The other and very last line of self-defence is if the American public itself wakes up to this and what it
means to their future. But the likelihood of that happening is at present very small - the true defenders of
the American Constitution being very few.

This is a bigger potential crisis than ANY US financial collapse. The future of freedom is at stake.

Kucinich is trying to find out.

" Saturday, July 12, 2008
Kucinich: Demand that Congress Issue Subpoenas for Continuity of Government Plans

Congressman Kucinich - who is leading the charge for impeachment - says that the American people must pressure Congress every day to get to find out about continuity of government (COG). If you don't know what COG is, read this.

Kucinich said Congress has tried to find out whether COG plans implemented on 9/11 are still in effect, and what those plans are, but the White House has stonewalled. He suggests that Americans demand that congress issue subpoenas to determine whether COG plans are currently in effect, and to find out what's in the documents. This is the only way we'll find out."

bootlickers

If it does happen, what are the odds that a bootlicking opposition party (the democrats) will support it with their votes in Congress like they did recently with FISA, like they've done all along since 2001?

About 9 out of 10.

About 9 out of 10.

SUPPORT OUR FOUNDERS' AMERICA
Support the Constitution of the United States

There's no opposition party.

The Democrats are compromised stooges of the New World Order, probably bribed by the administration as well..as they amply proved recently.

combination

It's probably a combination of bribes and blackmail, both consciously and unconsciously on their part, from a system that favors corporate interests.

I'll tell you

something scary. My husband and I were on our way home and about 7 or 8 miles away from home. I glanced over and in a small clearing off the road and among trees I saw about 6 or 7 camouflaged hummers military looking. OMG
I looked at my husband and could hardly speak. Never have I seen military vehicles like that in the area. Damn it.

If the national guard confiscates guns

Is that martial law? Like in Illinois:
http://www.nbc5.com/news/...

This is the way I see it-there's going to be "hotspots" throughout the country where the most corrupt governments are going to try martial law, but they won't call it martial law. They'll just send in the national guard to ask if you have any guns, and if you say you don't, but you come up on some registry as having a gun, or a criminal record then they'll raid and send you to jail if they find guns.

So, it won't be called "martial" law and I doubt there will be any national news-but if you live in a major city and you have guns I would get some friends together, or give your guns to friends.

The policies always work if there's no publicity and unfortunately we don't own the media.

When the End Game comes into play there will be....

...no way to tell the differance between the two parties. The Reps. and the Dems will all walk to the will of the International Banksters. What ever they say the pupets will do. As they are already doing.

The something big I think

The something big I think Ron Paul is alluding to is the collapse of the US dollar, which will accelerate through the year. If war with Iran occurs, it'll accelerate even more.

I don't think Bush will declare martial law anymore--a year ago I would have said odds were good. Martial law means disarming the populace, which would destabilize the applecart and upset it. The Republicans aren't going to use tanks and guns to disarm the people.

Disarming the public will be the Democratic Administration's job. In increments. First they'll come after the "assault weapons". Then they'll come after the "Saturday night specials" and "armor-piercing ammo". Then they'll come after "sniper rifles". And finally they will come after "riot guns".

PS- If you think Dubya is in any danger of anything more harsh than a soft slap on the wrist, you're dreaming.

Wake up. It is already instated so to speak,

when we look back at, and combine the Patriot Act, FISA, HR 1955, etc. It is just like "declaring war, without ever declaring war." With all the underhanded Homeland Stupidity bills he has signed into law, he has in effect "declared Martial Law, without actually declaring Martial Law." This must be the new strategy and mentality in politics. "Instate things indirectly, and maybe no one will notice." But as it turns out, it isn't working as planned. It is more accurate to say the new mentality is more akin to, "If we "squeeze it through" silently, maybe no one will smell our fart."

read the presidential directive 51

seriously read it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a few posts down. read it !

Back in 2004

I was convinced Bush would declare martial law and declare himself dictator of the United States. Now, I think the powers that be are going to sit back and let Obama be elected. That way, they can still claim they're spreading democracy overseas whlie subjecting us to a socialist government, and from there it's only a small step to fascism...

Obama will be even worse

Obama will be even worse than Bush.

Star Wars

Well ralphwaldo,. there's this guy who lives away from near me and he has filmed space objects which may have been built with the missing trillions from the pentagon mentioned by Donald Rumsfeld on Sept 10th 2001. Maybe these are the source of the ufo sightings? google him : John Lenard Walson

'I always think of all you canvassors and precinct leaders and delegates at the front line and caucuses.
Good luck out there &Thank you. You're a gift.

Pretty much low and very low.

... because even though there are plenty of 250 pound meat-thugs with very small minds in America who'd revel in strapping on The Boots... even such thugs expect a pay check (from a bank account drying up fast).

And more so, would be quite surprised at the number of brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers who'll come out of the wood work to spit in their face.

But Bush IS crazy. So a scuffle is not completely off the table.

low

Id say actually about 20%. If he was going to be charged with war crimes then it would be higher but he wont be charged because he pardoned himself. But another "terror attack" or confrontation with iran could cause him to call a state of emergency then go into marshall law. But what they will probably do is another false flag attack on america to try and get the people thinking we need John McCain as president with his "war experience".

Why would a dictator

Allow anyone to have his kingdom ? He has placed every thing in perfect order to do just that ? so why would he stop now ? read presidential directive 51 and get back to this .
http://www.whitehouse.gov...

I am thinking they might stage a UFO false flag attack.

That would scare and unite the world in fear!

It's definitely an option on

It's definitely an option on their drawing board--they've telegraphed it. But there are lots of options.

Honestly

I think we are past that. 95% no....but their is the WACKO FACTOR of 5% chance. We will see. The Iran thing would be the worst nightmare....but that seems to be cooling down just a little.

Why the hell does this country always have to be on the edge of THE APOCALYPSE?

The Bush administration has power, money, everything........I guess when you have everything, the only thing that will give you an erection is attacking other countries.......

Maybe we should send George a little gift of Viagra, so he will stop threatening the world.

If the banks go into

If the banks go into cascading cross defaults, the people on welfare can't get there handouts, and the economy gets really bad into a inflationary depression which Ron Paul said it will if things are not changed quickly!
I would say we have a good chance.. if we are stupid enought to attack Iran again a good chance or a false flag event to disguise the collapse and blame it on terrorists a real good chance! I don't trust the jerk!

as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD

W

We've got Bush in quite a squeeze, I'd say the chances are up to 5%. Quite frankly, it gives me chills.

I think that

some people have made a case or hypothesis that we've been under martial law for quite some time.

However, if you mean "going Stalin" on us with jackboots everywhere, I think that there is some chance of that happening.
He's done practically everything else, why would he stop short of totalitarian police state tactics?
I think that he's do it in a heartbeat, if he got the orders from his handlers.

MARTIAL Law---

is the proper spelling---unless someone named Marshal used martial law and it was re-named after him?

Ooops & Thanks!

!

Depends,,IMHO

Bush will try to build support for a savior to the REPUBLICAN party. His brother (steal me the state of Florida) Jeb. Or (hand me a demolition of the world trade center ) Marvin. If that does not happen watch out.

affirmation: President Paul

affirmation: President Paul 2008

My thoughts are another 9-11 before the elections, then easily bring in martial law for our protection.

marshall law and no election

i figure with what may possibly be facing him...i would not put anything past this administration

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master... George Washington
