Very IMPORTANT!! How Safe is your BANK???
I stumbled onto this site, because I was curious how they rate the "SAFETY" of banks. This is very interesting. I checked my Credit Union and it seems to be one of the safest, by this site. And then I started playing with the search...and wow...I found out that if you have money in Wachovia Bank in North Carolina...you are in trouble. Take some time and play with this. It is pretty interesting if you care about your money!
Also.....If you understand all of the numbers....please give some more input. This site seems to tell the truth.
The Wachovia Bank in North Carolina was rated a 4, from 1 to 5, where 1 is the safest, and 5 is the worst. My bank was a 2!
I hope I don't cause a Bank run...but it is all here for you to see!

You shouldn't keep your
You shouldn't keep your money in the bank for any length of time. Buy a supply of food, a Berkey water filter, dehumidifier, gas masks, and pay off your house since prices are low.

Another problem
is that banks can merge at any time. I was in what I thought was a pretty good bank and then one day I got a letter that it had merged with a large bank. Everything changed.
I know someone that had money in IndyMac Bank. It was offering the highest rates around on a CD. It was one of the banking options offered at the major brokerage firm that she was using. Lucky for her it matured in March and she moved her money out.
Maybe someone knows the answer to this: If one of the major brokerage firms goes under, how would a person prove they owned stocks through them? Who has possession of the stock certificate?
Can anyone recomend other sites as well?

I wouldn't trust this site
they give Wachovia a four star rating, when it just recently fell something like 37% in stock and some are wondering it it will be the next bank to have a run on. They gave IndyMac a 5 CAEL rating and they just had a run on their bank and many people still haven't gotten their money.
Also, they don't even have my bank, the First National Bank of Newtown which the street lists as one of the top twenty banks in the country in terms of safety.

I keep 20 dollars in my checking account
just so I can cash a check if I need to. The other day I cashed a check and they told me because I had not had a transaction in 6 months they were going to have to start charging me a service charge. I laughed and said "if I make a deposit today will that stop it". The girl said yes I handed here 10 dollars and said "here deposit that". I laughed out loud and she went over and had a pow wow with this other guy for about 3 min then she made the deposit and came back and gave me a deposit slip. I told her "if I didn't need the account to cash checks I wouldn't even use a bank". I said "maybe we can get this country back to using cash again and forget this plastic stuff". She said I don't think that will ever happen. I said "we'll see". I notice she kept looking up at my Ron Paul hat while we talked. It was funny. They hate poor people who only keep small amounts in their banks. They want to service charge me out of my account. They don't like having to spend $20 a year to keep up with my $20 balance. No profit in it for them. I wrote a check for 10 dollars the next day and got my 10 dollars back. They still only have my 20 spot lol.
