New Feature from the FDIC: Is My Account Fully Insured?
This tool allows failed bank customers the ability to verify whether their account is fully insured or they need to contact FDIC. A link to specific contact information will be provided.
This service is only available for banks that failed after July 1, 2008. The customer must enter each account number to determine that account's status. If you have multiple accounts with the failed bank, please enter each account number one at a time.
This service will be available for use no later than the first business day after a bank failure.
Does anyone besides me notice anything funny about the list? What does that tell you? (thanks to George Ure, at Urban Survival)

When are they going to have to add the scroll feature?

Even though only IndyMac is
Even though only IndyMac is currently listed, it looks as though that website was built in anticipation/preparation of other bank failures that are on the way...
I wonder if there is a scroll feature on that drop down?

8,500 U.S. Banks; Many Will Die Soon
The Ginormous Banking Enema of 2008
If you look down from a very high level what you see is this: There is $75 trillion in global real estate, $50 trillion in annual global GDP, and $675 trillion in derivatives - synthetic financial instruments loosely associated with the real world that, when inspected, prove to be worth a small fraction of their face value. Nine years ago Weathervane McCain’s chief economic adviser, Phil Gramm, got the Glass Steagall Act largely repealed. Investment houses engaged in an orgy of what can only be described as private money printing, taking real assets, puffing them up, marking them up, passing them around, and they kept at it until there were five or six dollars of funny money for every real dollar of stuff. Ssshhh, don’t anyone tell the pension funds ..."

C.Powell & C.Rice praise Obama, will not say if voting for McCain
According to newsmax.com and and interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer C. Rice will not publicly say that she will back or vote for Senator McCain. Both Powell and Rice openly admit that there has been a barrier for African- Americans and both praise Obama on his quest for the presidency.
Tho there has been some question to the percentage of Obamas actual African American blood line, many "African Americans are quick to point out the "Racial" status over Presidential leadership. However, other then C. Rice mentioning her concerns of education in the United States, the "African American" issue seem to be the main event in this article, not the issues of presidential stances, answers and solutions to the problems facing this country.
What type of education is C.Rice wanting to teach the American public? What involvement does she have in our policies in America? What roles has she played in the "BUSH" administration and the many many mistakes that have been bringing our country to its knees?
Let us continue to make as many aware as possible the deception and corruption that continues to spread in this nation.
Spreading the message of freedom and accountability as a citizen of the United States Constitution is vital in fighting this disease. Start at the local level and work up. That's the only way. One person at a time. This should be bumped all over this site.
The drop-down
...can only mean: a drop. Down.
Yeee-ap; there's more to come. You don't design in a drop-down menu unless there's the expectation for more items to be added to the list.
I see only Indymac.??
I see only Indymac.??
yep, that's the point
One doesn't set up a drop-down menu for a single bank unless one expects more banks to fail. This is only the start of our new depression, I'm afraid. I really wish Dr. Paul was wrong about all this, but it may be the impetus we need to galvanize the public against the Fed and their minions.

Tiny little letters
on header has option for "failed banks".
WOW!
That's crazy!
They ARE getting ready for the meltdown!
How did you find that?
"Whether you think you can or think you cannot, you're absolutely right!"
The programmer is one of us
One of the reasons the freedom movement is lousy with programmers is their ability to see the whole cause/effect, cause/effect chain.
At first, it seems like they are very simple, black/white, works/doesn't work truth-seekers, and then you realize that they can see around corners and over the horizon. And, yes, some see things that don't exist (yet, or ever).
They love efficiency and hate bureaucracy.
The reason I registered to vote Libertarian, years ago before I knew much about it, was because the candidates' professions were listed on my ballot as programmer, math teacher, economist, physicist, and engineer. Not "incumbent."

Did you vote for Ron Paul?
Most states required people to register republican to vote for Ron Paul in the primary. During the campaign, I met many libertarians that supported him but could not vote for him. There are allot of good things to be said for libertarians, now that they put Barr in the race I am not sure what or if they stand for anything. I am glad for the CFL or our version of it. I see party affiliation is a misnomer and a detriment to the cause of liberty.
What makes you believe the programmer is one of us, I looked over the site and over the source but could not see anything strange.
Lots of questions
Yes, I changed my registration to R for a couple of months, and have since changed it back to L. California is winner-take-all, so it was a futile effort. However, I walked two precincts and raised Ron Paul's percentage by 1% in them. I considered it a conflict of interest to try and be a delegate, but others took that on.
I was a delegate to the LP convention, and though I did not vote for Barr on every round, I did vote for him on the last round, in large part because he has been a Ron Paul supporter, and because it was the best vote possible for sending a message to the GOP establishment not to slight Ron Paul supporters.
Barr is a much bigger threat to the GOP than any of the other nominees (LP or Constitution Party), and I hoped it would make them treat all the Ron Paul Repbulicans like the gold they are.
It's critical that the GOP learn from their mistakes, and one way to do that is to make sure they lose. With Barr in the race, they'll blame Barr instead of Ron Paul.
That will help the LP and the freedom message and it will help Ron Paul's supporters, who will now become necessary to the GOP's hopes next cycle. Obama will inherit the economic melt-down and the wars and suffer the consequences of whatever unwise action he takes. It's win-win.
(I haven't ruled out Ron Paul as a nominee. If that happens, it'll be an embarrassment of riches. A choice of two libertarians! Yay!)
As for Barr, he is saying mostly the right things, and I believe his "conversion" is sincere. If by some miracle he were elected, there's no question he's better than Obama or McCain. No president is perfect, and the real action is in Congress, so it doesn't really matter.
A strong vote for the Libertarian candidate, no matter who, is a vote for smaller government and against the sub-standard candidates put forth by the dominant parties.
As for the programmer, I was jumping to a conclusion. Any logical person who isn't a libertarian will become one through reason, so if he isn't, now, reading The Revolution should do the trick.

Another reason it's good for McCain to lose.
It's critical that the GOP learn from their mistakes, and one way to do that is to make sure they lose. With Barr in the race, they'll blame Barr instead of Ron Paul.
Another reason it's good for McCain to lose:
There's virtually no difference between him and Obama as to political position. But like Nixon opening relations with Red China (which no Democrat would have dared to even suggest during the McCarthy era), McCain could get damaging legislation passed and signed that the Democrats wouldn't even attempt under Obama.
Meanwhile, the "conservative" members of the Supreme Court are much less likely to die or retire during the next term than the "liberal" ones. Which means things like DC vs. Heller are unlikely to be reversed or interpreted into oblivion as a result of an Obama appointment.
So with a McCain presidency actually being WORSE for us than an Obama one, there's no downside to letting him lose and using the event to take the Republican Party behind the woodshed for a well-deserved spanking.
= = = =
Meanwhile, now that the press has perfected the mass-ignore on Ron, they're using it on McCain. (To the point that this has actually made news. All-Obama-All-The-Time on the major network news programs, while McCain's latest campaign flight was met at the airport by ONE reporter!)
