Nevada GOP Cancels Convention, Opts for Conference Call
Brad Haynes reports on the presidential race.
Citing a lack of interest, the Nevada Republican Party has called off its state convention and will instead pick its delegates to the national convention by private conference call.
The state party broke up its original convention in April when supporters of Ron Paul hijacked the proceedings and tried to elect delegates for their candidate to the national GOP convention in September. Party officials tried to reconvene on July 26, but they needed a quorum of 675 and received only 300 RSVPs, according to local reports.
“With so many people concerned about the economy, it simply wouldn’t be fair for us to ask delegates from all over the state to spend money to attend a convention if we know that a quorum won’t be present,” state party Chairwoman Sue Lowden said in a release.

What another blown opportunity!
If the Ron Paul campaign had any aggressive legal scholars working on it's behalf, they would seize this moment for a tremendous amount of publicity by filing a lawsuit with great fanfare, and expose these Nevada GOP thugs for what they are. You can't act like a church mouse in these matters. When you've got righteousness and truth on your side, you yell it from the rooftops. The Paul Campaign ought to get downright ugly with the Nevada GOP and demand a public account of the action their doing, and make it so unruly that the TV talking heads would want to cover the story on their show i.e. Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck. Instead, we're playing right into their hands. They're going to "select" their delegates, instead of "electing" them? I don't think so.

Isn't that the section newspapers reserve for personal opinions?
I see by some of the comments that people are blaming the WSJ because of one opinion.
Please be careful about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Ask for equal time. Maybe they'll let you rebutt.
There's nothing to be gained by calling the paper names except, perhaps, if you want them to discontinue their blog section.
Which is not to say their coverage is unbiased. But most journalists are lazy and would rather quote an "expert" or "insider" than do research on their own. Making friends with them is how you get to be quoted.
Look at Ron Paul's press coverage now. He has worked himself into a position to be quoted. He wouldn't be there if he was calling them names.

June 28th, We Finished the Convention
In a very civil, parlimentarian manner with Mike Weber as the new Chairman. All voting was completed with 28 delegates for Ron Paul. Of course, the NV GOP does not recognize the brilliance of what was accomplished, but the organizers of the second day of the convention were very thorough and legal in all aspects of the completing event.

First, the NV GOP
tried to foist a pre-arranged delegates slate on us. Then, they forget to mention that by a 2/3rds majority vote this slate was overturned with nominations and votes to come from the floor...not some delegates predetermined by an unknown nominations committee. Now, they are back to where they wanted to be after 2/3rds of those present at a meeting made the decision to elect their own delegates. Please keep in mind, that probably only 1/2 or so of the State delegates were Ron Paul supporters, so that means that many McCain or "others" supporters voted for the nominations from the floor. Like children, when things were not going their way, they picked up their toys and stomped out of the convention.

Today Sue Lowden on NV Newsmakers kind of/sort of admitted that they actually weren't getting kicked out of the room on April 26th . . . she hinted that we could have stayed in the room, but would have been "charged double". And dear Sue didn't want to waste the Party's money, so of course they had no choice but to gavel us into oblivion . . . or attempt to do so.

I usually hear NV Newsmakers
but missed this. Anyone with a financial head on his/her shoulders would have known it would have been less expensive in the long run to stay put and get the job done. I wonder, some of us did stay on longer...did someone pay for that? I doubt it. Suzanne Lowden, on the BOD of several casinos and a big player in NV gaming, could probably have arranged whatever she wanted. She didn't want...and she didn't like the way things were going in the vote. When the "suits" were running up and down the aisles shouting "McCain people leave...McCain people out" they were trying to make sure there was no quorum if we tried to call the meeting back to order. It was really funny looking back at the rear doors and seeing people hiding back there in case there was a quroum and they had to come in and "help." Oh, I forgot, we couldn't be there because the time was up.
Now they pull the latest which was to try to reconvene this Saturday, but that didn't work because they couldn't get a quorum. Well, if the delegates believed in the NV GOP, why couldn't they? There have been comments by the press that there were not enough RSVPs and alluding to a "lack of enthusiasm." Since we completed the convention with only slightly over 325 delegates...where are the other 1000? If they didn't show up on June 28th and didn't RSVP for the little gettogether this weekend....then, in my opinion, they gave up their rights as delegates and, frankly, the NV GOP never intended to get together again and are just doing their usual railroading. If you give a party and send out invites and there are a lack of RSVPs...I'd take that as a sign that you are not very popular or believed in......

They tried to hijack the convention with their dog and poney show...and exposed themselves for the criminals they are.
I hope to God that the DVDs4delegates focus heavily on what happened in the New Hampshire, Nevada, and Washington primaries/caucuses.
To convince the delegates to rEVOLt will take a good reason...vote fraud is a good reason....the bogus election results do not reflect the true will of the America people.
The military reflects the true will of the American people...they overwhelminly support Ron Paul for president.
The delegates need to know these facts before they vote to flush America down the toilet bowl to hell.
Is a McCain supporter walkout a good enough reason? :-)
