Linda Goldthorpe Debate Video!

Congressional candidate and Ron Paul Republican Linda Goldthorpe debating her two rivals for the Michigan district 1 Republican Nomination, Don Hooper and Tom Casperson. Debate hosted by ACE (Americans for Constitutional Enforcement).
Linda Goldthorpe's primary is only 2 weeks away (August 5th). She needs volunteers (or paulunteers) to make phone calls to the voters in her district! The campaign has a calling system set up with a script, and a list of numbers to call. It's very easy and it will make a big difference! Help Linda and win one for the liberty movement!

Linda
really needs a lot of financing. She is one of the very best of all the Ron Paul candidates (heard her before) and knows Dr. Paul since years. I think she voted for him in 1988 and is a smart, principled and strong woman. Also excellent to have a woman and am sure she can beat Bart Stupak. She needs to win the primary, and need every help she can get, moneywise and in terms of campaigning/canvassing etc. It is perhaps good that there are three competitors, so the "pro-war" candidates can be slit and enable Linda to win the primary. If she manages to win the primary, she may have a very good chance of beating Stupak, regardless of how much money he has, as she is pro-peach, pro-civil liberties and the fact that she is a woman should also speak volumes and make her a very compelling candidate.
The guy who supports the Constitution and is against the Fed
thats cool but hes also Pro McCain-FeinGold and wants to make even worst campaign finance laws. He also supports the war lolol. So he cancels out each other. He cancels his own merits by his stupidity. Someone like this in Congress will be just like all the other morons who will never get it

Honestly, I wasn't all that impressed with Linda. Obviously she is the best choice among them and probably has her heart in the right place but I think she did a poor job with her delivery. I don't think she made her ideology clear which would have been refreshing after the vague and uninspiring words of the speaker before her. I think it's important to always identify basic prinicples so you can build on them throughout the debate rather than addressing random issues without providing a common consistent ideology to address them. I think she focused to heavily on fear without offering any inspiration and I think she came off as too angry...
and on another note, I disagree with her on building walls at the border and blocking tunnels. Arguing that birthrights gives you some advantage over others seeking freedom is immoral and it also leaves in the shadows a better policy and one consistent with "our" ideology, that instead of shutting our borders and truly becoming isolationists we should stop offering incentives for the wrong types of people to come here - the wrong types of people being those who use the state as a means of expropriating the property of the producing members of society for their own unearned benefit- through our welfare system and offer the incentive of freedom to the right types of people - those who wish an attempt to become productive members of society and enjoy the fruits of their labor, property and liberty.
On the Immigration Issue
I believe she was just using the tunnel story to make a point. You can check out her page on immigration on her site and you'll see that she completely agrees that the best way to stop illegal immigration is by removing the incentive for them to come here. She isn't against immigration, she's simply against Americans having to spend their money supporting immigrants who don't pay taxes and have no intention of ever becoming legal "American" citizens.

The guy's name is Don Hooper
The guy's name is Don Hooper, he's closer on the issues to Linda than Tom Casperson is, but he's pro-war among other things. He has also ran for the seat 3 times before, a lot of people don't take him seriously.
He's a bit doofy. Says the right stuff, but not very well.
