Grassroots Agenda-What should we do for the next month?

Hello all. Ron Paul has left the success of the upcoming event, Rally for the Republic, in our hands. What can we do to make this a huge success? Should we place newspaper ads? If so, where? In Minnesota, elsewhere? What can we do to further the greatness of our rally? Whatever we decide...it needs to happen quickly...so let's have it! What are your thoughts, concerns, ideas. I can take a project on, but I need your help. Anyone?

Ideas so far:

Geeksneek - Develop two strategies...one for Advertising and one for Public Relations. Develop a press kit containing a brief, organized presentation about the event and include easy-to-use reference materials and several mock editorials of varying length (2 paragraphs, 4 paragraphs, etc.). Make it simple for the editors to incorporate the story into their publications.

wninja - Illustrate a portrayal of the future under one of the other presidential nominees who are owned by the global elite. Basically a calender of the forecast globalist agenda.

SSgT_AF - Buy a ticket to the Rally for the Republic and sit back and wait. Or Chill.

rhino - Seek your vocation...Set goals...Achieve those goals!!!

me - run newspaper ads in the large metropolitan areas of Minnesota.

Seize The Day!

The eyes of the world will be upon St. Paul and we have a brief window of opportunity to represent our message to a global population. I strongly urge that the most talented and personable of us begin to initiate constructive relationships with the media... whether that be local, regional, national or international... print, radio, television or internet... these are our conduits to the people and they are the ones that will "REPRESENT" the story to the rest of the world... before and especially after the week of events is over.

We need to embrace the media as aggressively as we have challenged them during the past year. Many producers, editors, reporters are fed up with having not been able to get the truth out and having so much of their investigative work go unreported. I think we may find many sympathetic individuals who if approached in a kind and caring manner (I'm a concerned citizen, not an overly-enthusiastic Paulite) would be very open to dialog... and that's the secret... be nice... treat them as the authority... and prepare your information in a simple to explain format so that when given the opportunity you have very good questions and properly researched reference materials. But remember, you're asking them to teach you so act accordingly, but use this conversation to introduce the reporter to new information and to let them know about our activities in St. Paul and how that is going to be the real story as events unfold.

Adopt a Reporter - determine the medium you are most comfortable in and then identify who you think would have the most influence within that medium, or the reporter, editor or publisher that you would feel most comfortable getting to know, and then determine the best way to introduce yourself. For local/regional I like to invite them to lunch. I call, write or email to introduce myself and tell them that I've been getting increasingly interested in politics (or a specific subject you want to explore) this year and I was hoping he/she would let me buy them lunch and maybe they can give me a good overview of things from their perspective.

They need to see and hear you as a person... not a political activist. Good luck and don't be afraid to try... you just may make a friend in the process... not to mention that the reporter that YOU adopt... could be the one to break the story in your area. Go get 'em!

We have got to fill that stadium.

Does everybody who voted for Ron Paul know about this event?

Probably not. How can we get the word out?

I am gonna try and make a YouTube Video.

But time is short.

Here are the two things to do

(besides buying a ticket and getting there)

operation st. paul: $15,000 of $50,000. Can we bump that up to a respectable number-maybe a donation of $17.76 from 2000 people? http://www.dailypaul.com/...

Send your signs, materials to St. Paul- http://www.dailypaul.com/...

Those that stay home

Here's a thought for those that financially cannot make this trip; can you get a group together to march in front of your states' capitol building? Even a quick pass by one or two at a time with a Campaign for Liberty sign wearing your R3volution t-shirts?

PyraBang for Liberty

This is a great idea.

We would like to go, but we have both financial reasons and family reasons that make it almost impossible to attend, but we can probably get to the capitol in FL.

Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips

First sell out tickets.

Get as many there as we can.

Blanket St. Paul with "Ron Paul Supporters welcome GOP Delegates" signs and ads. (Cabs, billboards, news TV (Fox and local news stations) a Blimp would be nice if there is a real Daddy Warbucks or just some airplanes with banners) There are some other ideas too. Like receipt tape for local restaurants and bars with CFL and Rally for the Republic on it. Valet tickets. Also pay cabbies to hand out cards. Get Four editions of the Ron Paul News paper and get them at the hotel room doorsteps near and around the GOP convention. And I can keep going here.

Man was born to be free and independent

We need bait to get the media's

curiosity and hook them into giving FREE coverage before, during , and after.

Some special announcements...??? secret guests, international leaders?? I just don't know what that could be. Any ideas?

I like Geeksneek's idea of

I like Geeksneek's idea of breaking it into two parts. There was another poster who had the advertising idea of focusing on getting as many Ron Paul people to attend and advertising in the local area. An outline of my thoughts:

Advertising
Local
Focus on free advertising first
Community bulletin boards
Event postings in local papers/online
Contacting local papers with a press release (mailed and e-mailed)
E-mailing local, small papers asking them to talk up the event
Develop a newspaper/radio campaign
Begin work on a template newspaper ad (later radio if money allows)
Make a simple website to explain the ad process and solicit donations
Focus on small, local papers or radio stations
Create a chip-in to raise money for the ads
National (online)
Push the people running the Rally site for banner ads/buttons asap
Get those buttons on the Revolution sites
Contact blogs (even "lefty" ones) with press release
E-mail campaign to sites and blogs to talk up the event
Public Relations
This needs to be coordinated with the campaign
I like the idea of multiple sample editorials
We can push the announcements when they come online at the site

I'm no graphic designer or anything but I'd be more than willing to build an e-mail list of the local papers to make e-mail campaigns more effective.

1. Tighten up your meetup

1. Tighten up your meetup groups. Set a solid agenda and meet regularly. Rename the group if necessary.

2. Do not bicker amongst yourselves about the past. Instead, learn from the past and move forward.

3. Brainstorm, strategize, plan, and take concrete actions.

4. Visit paulcongress.com and support a state or local candidate. If you do not have one, select one from another state or district to support.

5. Join organizations for liberty. Join all of them, especially the ones that don't cost you anything.

6. Write your congressmen. Often.

7. Email friends and family. Send them links to liberty sites and videos, and promote your candidates.

8. Write letters to your local newspaper announcing your candidates, clubs and other efforts.

All efforts to "Paint Saint Paul RON PAUL" for the CONVENTION!

This will happen big. Hope you participate.

Guerilla marketing

I wonder if we could come up with a sort of guerilla marketing campaign, similar to the Ron Paul R[EVOL]ution guerilla marketing that was so successful.

Freeway blogging. Sign "bombs." Free literature and DVDs. Marches, walks, protests, etc.

Saint Paul to St. Paul Sept 2nd ?

Deerefly sez:
JKAP has covered it well.
Freeway and high traffic corner sign waves will work locally in MN.
MN market ads? set up an ad bomb .
Selling tickets to Ron Paul Fans? Use the Meetups ! There are still more than 1,300 RonPaulMeetups! Get the word out using them!
MN high schools had Boys' State/Girls' State? Betcha many would love to attend a real rally at a real convention!
WI , IL, IA, ND & SD , & Upper MI are all in driving distance.
Canadians For Paul and Against the NAU?
Why not make this Rally really fun - turn it into "IMPEACH BUSH & CHENEY" Day!
Step it up by burning some of the MSM in effegy. Rupert, George, Ted, for starters. I'm bringing marshmellows!
Invite Dennis and Elizabeth Kucinich, Jesse Ventura ( he has name recognition in MN - he was elected Governor on a 3rd party ticket! ),
Cynthia McKinney/Rosa and the Greens, etc!

There's a time and a place for everything...

...and St. Paul and the Republican National Convention is OUR time and OUR place for everything... pull out all the stops short of breaking any laws... we want to instill a positive image for our Patriots on the convention floor, but we also want to shine the light of the world upon the injustice that is our American political system and promoting our 3-day event is a great way to get the collective recognition that we all so desperately seek. Go get 'em!

Pass out any and all left over materials and/or take them with you to the rally.

Purchase the 100 extra "Republic" magazines offered for shipping only and pass them around to businesses where people read magazines.

Get involved with dvds4delegates, at least donate.

I still wish we could put an infomercial on tv with the rally at the end of it telling the people what is happening in this country.

This may sound simplistic,

This may sound simplistic, but I would recommend that supporters do everything possible to attend the rally in Minnesota. The best thing anyone can do for Ron Paul right now is make sure that he receives a turnout in Minneapolis that exceeds all expectations. There needs to be a LOT of people at the rally to rocket the campaign to the next level.

Start planning now to attend. Make arrangements for time off, babysitters, travel, lodging, whatever. Prepare some signs, banners, shirts, literature, etc.

Another full page USA Today ad would be awesome too, wouldn't it?

A USA Today ad would be expensive! Did you know that....

....it took 10 years for USA Today to turn a profit? While at first glance this fact seems inspirational because they stuck it out that long, yet I wonder who would keep afloat a paper that was in the red for 10 years. Anyhow, what do you think of the overall dilemma which is this:

We have an event which is political in nature and ticketed to the tune of $17.76. Who do we believe would attend and how do we convince them to buy a ticket? Remember that, right now, the budget is $100. Impossible? I don't believe so. Thanks for the reply!

Produce our own vision of

Produce our own vision of the world to be if the global elite win. Illustrate what each globalist candidate has on the table and repercussions and consequences for each prospective presidency. Basically a calender of the forecast globalist agenda. Then link the perceived executive orders to projected milestones that will inevitably shape their agenda. Both candidates have been very forthcoming about their plans for Iraq, foreign policy, and troop movements. Other things like Codex Alimentarius, RFID, and the dollar collapse itself are already on the table slated for implementation. So quite a bit of future fortune telling can be done.

Another thing... The movie IOUSA opens soon and we have no idea how this will be spun. It would be wise to prepare for any kind of negative spin. We can't afford to allow the public to be lead by the media.

Myself, I'm seriously considering passing out DVDs and other FedTruth literature in front of the theater IOUSA plays in.

Voter Education Program

http://www.dailypaul.com/...

I received confirmation today that the Voter Education Program will be greenlighted here in Nevada so we can address many of the issues you bring up in your post. Lot's of good things happening.

<3 what you're

Develop two strategies...

...one for Advertising and one for Public Relations.

Develop a press kit containing a brief, organized presentation about the event and include easy-to-use reference materials and several mock editorials of varying length (2 paragraphs, 4 paragraphs, etc.). Make it simple for the editors to incorporate the story into their publications.

When purchasing Ad space in newspapers and local publications you can also negotiate for a small article or editorial in exchange for a larger ad. Determine your ad size and start negotiating with a smaller size ad and inform them that you could budget for a larger ad if the publication would provide some mention or coverage of the upcoming event in an article or two leading up to the conventions. Be sure to get it in writing, as this is a fairly common practice. If this is done with multiple publications concurrently you can pull off some pretty impressive results on a limited budget and the article gives the ad more credibility.

Assemble a contact list of local media and target publications and organize our national network of Paulites to contact them requesting information about the event. If enough interest is generated... they will cover it. This strategy is working pretty good here in Nevada.

What do you think?

I would also suggest you coordinate with the organizers of the event to ensure maximum exposure for all promotions and to avoid any confusion at the publications.

Awesome Geeksneek! Thank you so much for...

...the input! I believe the press kit and related materials would have to be portrayed as a grassroots message to the public at large rather than being portrayed as a CFL endeavor. I don't want to step on their toes! Any thoughts on how to portray the 17.76 price-tag? Being that this event is ticketed, I believe the entertainment should be a major selling point, but I also want to give it a patriotic flavor. If I understand your second paragraph, we can get an article/write-up if we purchase a large ad space. From your experience in Nevada, what is a ball-park figure for an article/ad combo? Did you have to agree to bi-weekly ads or a concurrent ad space purchase for the write-up? Also, where did you advertise(larger cities, suburbs)? Any help is appreciated! I'll get to work on some designs. If you have the time, please do the same. Thanks again Geeksneek! Great stuff!

Every market is unique...

and rates vary greatly, you'll just have to shop around, do a little market research but I still recommend contacting the CFL to see how much of this info they may already have available for you to use, especially media contact lists and ad schedules so the messages can be coordinated, you may even increase your buying power by purchasing individual ad space, but coordinating your purchase with the CFL, basically both of us taking advantage of volume pricing... but these considerations depend on the scope and budget of your project.

I would recommend contacting publishers, editors, etc. via email with the press kit attached. This way the communications are conducted in near realtime and there is no expense of producing a hard copy press kit, plus you will have established relationships with publishers and editors for post-convention coverage which is also very, very important.

Will give some thought to design concepts and let 'em soak in overnight.

Buy your

Ticket on Friday and sit back and wait. Or chill.

Thanks for the advice!

Unfortunately, I can't wait, which is a personality disorder based on a lifetime of experiences which taught me that waiting does no good...unless your hunting...but even then you must prep for the hunt. The ticket purchases are a given. 38 days and counting....

That

Must be terrible not being able to relax. I'm sure Ron Paul himself does partake in some relaxing things as just relaxing. People must not like hanging around you for you cannot sit still for a minute nor hold a train of thought for a second. Pitty I thought higher of you. Now I just don't know.

Thanks for the pity. I never said that I couldn't relax...

....did I? Nope...I didn't. I'm from the "seize the day" school of thought.

Carpe diem is a phrase from a Latin poem by Horace. It is popularly translated as "seize the day". The general definition of carpe is "pick, pluck, pluck off, gather" as in plucking or picking a rose or apple, although Horace uses the word in the sense of "enjoy, make use of, seize."

Also, how does being proactive make me a scatter brain? Ha ha ha ha! Why I am responding to this? Thanks for the reply!

Ah ha

You caught the pitty pity. You might be smarter than I thought. Learn to relax and everything will be fine.

No

we can't waste this month-well, we could, but that is very, very unproductive.

Seek your vocation ...

Set goals ...

Achieve those goals!!!

What else is there?

WAHOR!!!

Do not wait for power to delegate.

Actually, there's a lot more...

...to it than the simplistic statement above, which I appreciate by the way. I was thinking of the good ol' days when the following word meant something:

inclusion |inˈkloō zh ən|
noun
1 the action or state of including or of being included within a group or structure.

Sure, I could design a paper ad and place it in some rags, but I was wanting some feedback from the DP, and hopefully get some great ideas and insight on how to promote this event. We should do all that we can to make the Rally for the Republic a huge success. There are currently 325 people on the DP...if we all brought two(2) friends, the number would be less than a thousand. We need to organize this event as we did our past events, but do better than the previous events. Any ideas or thoughts on what we should do? Thanks!

Not so fast

Slow down, breathe...at times like this you should ask yourself "What would Bob Marley do?" Well, I don't claim to speak for Bob, but I'll bet he'd twist up a fat one and thoroughly enjoy the here and now.

Ya Man... Sparkin' for Bob

I think Bob would be luvin' the r3volution and the spirit of unity. I can offer free professional graphic design services with fast turnaround for anything you might need including flyers, print ads, tee shirt & hat designs, signs, billboards, etc. I've been doing work for the campaigns out here in Nevada including for the recently completed convention we just held. I can build the files and send the pdf's wherever they are needed.

If this helps promote our message of a smaller and more open government, then sign me up.

Great! I'm a graphic Designer by trade as well....

....I also dabble in web animations and such. Any thoughts on what we should do? Who would be our target audience, etc.? Thanks for the reply and kind gesture!

"Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism."

Two targets

1. Paul Supporters across the nation who are planning to attend

2. Local/regional populations within driving range of St. Paul

Are you looking to primarily advertise and promote the event, or provide attendees with promotional items?

Thanks again Geeksneek! You're an inspiration!

I think we should leave promotional items for attendees to CFL. I simply wish to fill seats/sell tickets. If you have ideas about the former then, by all means, put them out there. Perhaps we can inspire someone to take up the standard and run with it. I believe turnout is of the utmost importance. Should we advertise to Paul Supporters? I would think that since they know of the event they have made their decision already. My original intent was to "get the word out", but this is a work in progress, so if you have suggestions please let them fly! Thanks again Geeksneek!

CREATE AN EASY and POTENT WEBSITE

For we who cannot attend to donate tickets to those who promise to attend. Have a way to verify thier attendance. Maybe have them put up a returnable deposit and when they prove attendance return the deposit.eh?
