Off Topic.....But I found a great deal!!

I realize this is off topic, but as a fellow Ron Paul supporter, I thought I would pass this on.

Have you seen the Magic Jack?

This device plugs into your computers USB port and you have instant Phone service for $12 a year.

I thought I would order this device...and just got it...plugged it in...and BAM. Full featured home phone with free long distance, voice mail, caller ID etc, etc. Talk about cool, and super clear. Also the International rates are cheaper than anything I have found.

So it is $40 for the device, and $20 per year or $12 a year if you buy 5 years!!! Woohoooo. I was paying $25 a month for Vonage which was great, but this is better, so this device is now saving me $288 per year.

Of course you must have high speed Internet.....But this blows away anything offered by Comcast or Vonage.

Here is the site for this great device......

With economic times getting tougher....Any savings is a help....

So to sum it up....this thing works perfect.

Hope this helps!

I am telling you

This this Magic Jack that you keep seeing on TV is the real thing.

I am bumping my own post...because I bought one of these for each of my family...and it works perfect.

I gain nothing by posting this...just trying to save you some $$$$$$$

Just learned another great feature....

about the Magic Jack. You can take this device anywhere. As soon as you plug it in...you have your home phone with you all the time. ANYWHERE.....

I can take this little device with me to different countries....plug it in...and I can call the US for free...and the phone rings like it is at home. How cool is that. Now...this also worked with Vonage, but it was a hassle carrying the Vonage Router with me. This device is about the size of a box of matches.

I will take it everywhere!

Is this working off a satellite?

No

Any High Speed Internet connection. Take it into any country...find a computer....plug it in...and talk.

Since you brought up the subject...

I own a video telephone called an Ojo! It operates over broadband cable and you need one on each end, but if you have a loved one who lives at a distance, it cannot be beat. It does not require a computer at all, just a cable connection and is compatible with most common modems and routers.

Using an Ethernet Extender cable you can use the Ojo phone in any room of your house. The picture has thirty frames per second and the audio is in synch!

I use it to see friends who live elsewhere in the country but it can be used worldwide whereever someone has a broadband cable connection! I know people who use it to see relatives in Turkey, Chile, Israel, Japan, Germany, in fact it is being used in around sixty countries in the world.

The picture is a 7 inch LCD screen held at eye level.

Check it out at www.ojophone.com and watch the ojosodes under Community.

There are three models, although the new Ojo pro will be out in the Fall. I own the Shadow Ojo which has a black satin finish and is devoted to video calls. The deaf and hearing impaired community is using the Ojo via SNAP a video relay service company www.snapvrs.com

One of these days everyone will have a video telephone, perhaps. Plug and play. My Ojo cost $180 and the service fee is just $9.95 a month.

www.ojophone.com

It is made by a Pennsylvania company called WorldGate Communications.

The Ojo won Best of Innovations in Design and Engineering Award at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas a few years ago.

Enjoy. If you buy one let me know and I'll give you my number so you can see what a die hard Ron Paul supporter looks like. I am so devoted that I am a volunteer in the www.DVDs4Delegates.com project!

WOW

That is cool!!! Thanks!!!!

Two Questions

How do you call the cable company when the cable goes out?

How do you call for computer help when the computer is off?

IMissLiberty

LOL

#1 Cell Phone

#2 My computer is never off.

It is also better to leave it on......

One answer about ON and OFF..... This is what I have always been taught....

From CNET...

"Leaving a computer on isn't bad for it... its actually better for the computer than the off and on thing. Why? Electronics like electricity... and are designed to run full time. Yes you use electricity by doing so and certainly turning a computer on and off won't necessarily hurt it, but i've always been taught that.. its actually better.. believe it or not for them to be continuously on. Big corporations do.. i work at best buy.. and all our computers have been on nonstop for 6 years.. minus the occasional computer crashes/reboots which is typical, but they never need turning off. There designed to do so. So.. if you don't mind paying the extra for electricity... leave it on. Also, it is proven that you will shorten the life of the hard drive by turning the machine on and off all the time."

Thanks! It almost looks too good to be true!! :-)

That is

exactly what I thought. But I got it....and it is so cool. When you dial from your phone...It automatically pulls up a cool screen on your computer showing all of the info. As you dial on your home phone, the number comes up on the computer screen shows length of call, you can add it into a database address book if you want, and you can use a headset and call right over the computer if you do not want to use your phone.

I just can't believe it. That is why I posted.

Now for the trouble. I just got off the phone with Vonage...it took me over an hour to disconnect my Vonage service. They tried and tried to keep me. Transfer after transfer. PAINFUL!!! LOL!!!

My girlfriend, sister, and dad are paying $39 a month for Internet phone through Comcast....LOL, I am ordering one for each right now for CHRISTMAS GIFTS!. What a great gift!!!! Sorry Comcast.....you have been crushed!

I've got Comcast for my internet and tv service, but I don't

what our phone service is. It would be up to my folks on this!

Well

If you need a home phone....This is the ticket. I had Vonage because I hated using my cell for long calls.......And my Alarm system requires a land line.....well....here it is!!!! Talk about a dream deal!

We have a land line and Verizon is our cell phone provider

which we just got new cell phones from about 2 months ago! I will keep this in mind when I get my own place -- whenever that may be. LOL
