What I remember most about the Milton Friedman Econ textbook we used in college (1973), was how in harmony with human nature it was.
Since we know people will move toward maximizing their wealth, and that most can't resist a free handout, the only thing to do is stop the handouts.
If you imagine a table with free food, you can see what will happen when the government is in charge of keeping it stocked.
If it were a bird-feeder, it would cause an explosion in the bird, rat and squirrel population.
The process of making government bigger and bigger is a force of nature. The only question is whether the brains of humans have enough development to rise above it. Our Constitution was designed to keep our natures on the side of balance and harmony, and to keep government under control. We need to follow it.

I tried to leave a message for Barbara Boxer. Her voice mail box is FULL. Maybe we have a chance to stop this.
This is when I first hear of Ron Paul.
This is the reason why I support Ron Paul. I was a socialist. However, I started to question why housing was so expensive in SF, Cali. I read different economic theory. Then, when I read about Ron Paul, wow, all of this is logical.
Now, falling home price is good for working people, in the long run, they can buy house with out becoming an indentured servant.
Where as, a more socialist view, such as those affordable housing program actually make it unaffordable. Rent control hurt poor people.

The drug addition analogy is a pretty good one and I've read
articles in the past where people have compared inflations in economies to the cycle of drug addiction. As the dependence grows, the amount of the drug (cheap fiat-money being roughly the equivalent of crack cocaine) needed increases and the amount and length of the effect decreases, until such time down the road when no amount of the drug will be enough to satisfy the need. I recall that, just this week, Zimbabwe has started issuing $100 Billion notes. They're experiencing hyperinflation that independent economists estimate to be between 10 to 15 Million percent.
