Another sign of what we've lost

The county I live in recently reassessed every property in it. To gain a more profitable tax base, an outside firm, 21st Century appraisals, was hired. I have found myself in an all too common position of finding my tax burden nearly tripled and like many I filed an informal appeal as the first step in contesting. The "hearing" was held in a rented building the assessment company has occupied.
As I was standing outside waiting for my wife I could see that everyone who entered was being wanded and searched. Not one individual protested or even seemed to have a clue as to what the seriousness of such behavior represents. As my wife arrived I informed her that I was going to refuse this illegal search and we both proceeded into the building. An individual dressed in a county security uniform stopped us and attempted to search me. When I refused and stated that it was a violation of my Constitutional right against unreasonable search and seizure it got pretty ugly. The guard immediately started stammering and stated that it was a county building and everyone was required to submit to a search prior to entering. When I pointed out that it was a private firm that occupied the building, and I was there to correct their ineptness he really became hostile.
I told my wife that it was her decision if she wanted to allow them to search her belongings and she allowed them to do so. The guard had by this time started to transparently lie to me about their being county employees there to which I pointed out that the only individuals there employed by the county were him and his sidekick who were moonlighting. They were also in possession of a wand which looked suspiciously like the ones used at our county courthouse.
I told my wife to attend the hearing and to state that she was attending under protest due to me being blocked from being there.
As I walked out of the building the guard shouted at the top of his lungs that he "was only doing his job."
Where have I heard that before?
I answered him by stating that I was just walking away which seemed to aggravate him even more as he and his fellow guard decided to follow me towards my car. This started to irritate me a bit and my being 245 pounds came in quite handy when I turned around looked at both of them and let them know unequivicably they were pushing their luck.
After they returned to the building my wife came out shortly after.
Seems like the word had spread rather quickly and the company decided to lower my tax base by $40,000.
Moral of this story, stand up for your rights. I was thoroughly distressed and disgusted the way the sheeple accepted this degradation of their Constitutional rights and am afraid their acquiescence will cause the rest of us to loose these hard gained rights.

There are town meetings being held all over the place and you can bet I will be attending every one I can with a stack of voter registration cards urging all to change their registration. You think the County Commissioners, who have been ignoring the public outcry, will notice a bunch of angry taxpayers waving registration cards at them?

California's Proposition 13 passed 30 years ago because of runaway tax reassessments.
People were losing their homes because their neighbors sold theirs at high prices, triggering a higher tax rate for everyone.
We now have a system where people living next door to each other have different rates based on their purchase price. It may seem unfair, but it has the advantages of 1. making your tax increases predictable, as they are limited and based on the purchase price, and 2. keeping people from losing their homes when they are planning to be there through retirement.
And, of course, people pay taxes based on when they move in, so newcomers may pay more, but the old-timers have been paying for a longer time already.
Go to HJTA.org and check them out. Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. They are still fighting to keep taxes in line and you can bet that more governments will be wanting to get more money as the property values go down.
All the disaster predicted by the opponents of Prop 13 never happened. In fact, tax revenues increased in California even though many people had a lower rate. Given the housing price bubble of the last decade, California would be losing population even faster if it weren't for Prop 13, because many would not be able to afford the taxes.
If you want to pass something like this, you'll need help from those obedient, but resentful, sheep. Then go find a similar organization in your state or county and offer to work with them-- they will value your contact list. Good luck.

Run for office. We need liberty-minded people at all levels of government, from the local city council to the presidency.

Been there done that
and was rewarded by an arrest by an individual who was illegally employed as a police officer in my municipality and subsequently convicted of resisting arrest from an uncertified police officer. The judge would not allow any testimony as to his being illegally employed be entered into evidence. Let me add I'm in the area where the Molly McGuires were from and not much has changed around here.

The old Nuremberg defense is famous for getting its defendants executed.
It was made very clear to me when I was in uniform following an illegal order was a CRIME. Police and military need to keep this in mind because there will be a day when America is back under control of Americans and traitors will be tried.

I just thought of something
In the 1990's, the government media reported that urban violence was increasing when, in fact, it was decreasing.
The same government used this fake stat to implement metal detectors in schools. A whole generation came to believe this was a way of life.
So the government lied about crime to scare us into accepting the installment of metal detectors that conditioned us to give up our rights and be more dependent on the government.
This also supports the theory that 9/11 was another false flag operation...for the story of terrorist attacks terrorized us into accepting a ton of other loss of securities (metal detectors at airports, gov buildings, home invasion, etc.).
We have had our rights scared out of us.
I have read
some reports in other places, which described a widespread effort by the local gov'ts to re-assess properties at the "bubble value"(value prior to the crash of the housing market values), so that their tax base could be boosted.
They just raise the assessment, instead of having to raise the tax rate, and get their extra moolah that way.
The corruption goes all the way thru, from federal to state to local.
The whole damn thing is ugly as home-made sin.
They all get their ideas from these organizations known as National Associations of "fill-in-the-blank" agencies. There's national associations of state gov'ts, national associations of county commissioners, tax assessors, mayors, etc, etc. They all meet(on taxpayer's dime) and the newest ways of swindling the people are handed down from "on-high" and they go back home and implement them.
That's why all this stuff is seen operating the same on a widespread scale.
It isn't just some "coincidence" that they all come up with these ideas.
And if that isn't "bad enough", then wait till you find out that they are all running 2 sets of accounting books, just like any good criminal racket would.
Google CAFR, and be amazed at the level of crookedness going on that we aren't supposed to know about.
Here in Idaho
the local reassessing of bubble property values came about by orders from Boise. Every county was required to reassess.
After not having been reassessed for many, many years, our property got hit with 2 reassessments in 3 years.
Way to lead by example!
Hopefully some of the people standing in line saw what went down and won't be so quick to roll over for the police state.
