Feds Stockpiling Survival Food
There's an article on World Net Daily today concerning the federal government stockpiling survival food, shortages of Mountain House freeze dried #10 cans, etc. Makes you wonder.
http://www.worldnetdaily....
Which reminds me - how are everyone's gardens coming along?

If you're interested,
Costco carries 6-packs of canned roast beef brisket. I recently tried it, and never having tasted canned roast beef before, I fully expected to p'tooie my first taste into the sink, but it was very good. They also have canned chicken, and of course, tuna, and their prices are good. Not a bad substitute for the sold out freeze dried meat in #10 cans from Mountain House.
I have been buying the Costco
beef for years and it is great for a quick stew and a lot of other dishes.
Shelf life
What's the shelf life for the canned road beef?
depending on how cool it is
depending on how cool it is kept 2 to 4 years... buy it, eat it, and replace it as you eat it!

Beaware of WORLD NET DAILY it is a ZIONIST Propaganda tool.
While most of their news is digestable and worthwhile, WND is connected with many proven zionist or Israeli propaganda outlets.
They sneak in their pro-zionists views edgewise.
BE WARNED... WND is A PRIMARY source of unsubstantiated PROPAGANDA.
WND
I go on the site to read their various commentary columnists - Walter Williams, Mychal Massie, for ex.
I used to love that site
We have all been fooled at sometime in our lives ......lol
I loved the way Farah spoke about liberty, privacy, personal freedoms ect..
he seemed to echo our good Dr. to the T. Then he refused to "endorse" Paul??? Farah is a fake and a fraud. I'd almost believe he was jealous bc noone suggested he himself throw his hat into the ring as a candidate.
Still WND is a good source of info, just no the best (imho) .................
News with views dot com is far better anywayzzzzzzz
Farah not only
didn't endorse Ron Paul, he trashed him. I was surprised because Farah had seemed to be a good reporter.
This is why
I don't trust anyone at all until I ask them who they voted for in the primaries. That is absolutely the only way you can tell for sure, because the elites have the absolute BEST propaganda machines in existence.
more confirmation on FED
more confirmation on FED buying and mountianhouse supplies!
A Retraction
OK, OK, I know this is the THIRD time for me to write this month, and I'm sorry
to bother you again. But I have to retract one item from the last mailing.
A reader wrote to say Google is NOT censoring the American Spectator. Either
the site was hacked or they've inadvertently displayed an infected picture on
their website that contains malicious code, and the warning from Google is
genuine. Apparently, this also happened last year.
I usually go to snopes.com to verify--or discredit--rumors and "chain emails", but the
Google/American Spectator thing was brought to me by someone I considered
reliable, and so didn't vet the story this time. I apologize to all of you!
Out of Some Foods Until Harvest
Our dehydrated foods cannery has advised us that they are OUT of most beans
(except small red and pinto) and grains (except for red wheat and rice) until
Fall harvest. They'll hold prices as long as possible (for orders already in),
but new pricing goes into effect August 4. We've already got the list.
1999 Sprouts
Many of you are concerned about the length of time you can store sprout seeds.
We accidentally found out! In cleaning out our walk-in pantry, in the back of
the very top shelf, Phyllis found a plastic container of sprouts that we didn't
sell in 1999 and kept for our own use.
I thought it would be interesting to see if they'd still sprout after 9 years.
Over 60% DID! See the pictures at the bottom of this page:

BPSF in the News
About a week ago, one of our visitors (maybe one of you?) sent WorldNetDaily
our page in which we tell of the feds buying up an entire containerload of
canned butter when it hit the docks in California.
One of their reporters (Bob Unruh) called me and interviewed me about it. I
also told him about the feds buying up all of canned Mountain House product.
The article came out today:

It's a good article for you to send along to your friends and relatives....
Quinn and Rose in the Morning
A couple of years ago, we in the DFW area lost an EXCELLENT talk radio host,
Darrell Ankarlo, and are now saddled with a lukewarm guy on AM570 KLIF. So,
I've returned to listening to Quinn and Rose from 5 to 9 a.m. Central time. (I
usually don't join the show until 6, though, to be honest.)
If you're looking for an informative and entertaining show in the morning, you
can listen free at
http://streamingradioguid...
When the Listen buttons are there, and green, you can click on them and listen
online from anywhere in the world. They broadcast from WPGB in Pittsburgh, PA,
which is the one I listen to. Quinn is a hard-hitting, conservative, funny,
immensely entertaining talk show host. He has a Washington insider (who he
calls Son of Deep Throat) who says Romney will be McCain's choice for VP.
Give Jim Quinn and Radio Rose a try. I think you'll love 'em, too!
This time, it REALLY WILL be
'Til next month, stay safe!

World's Biggest Food Storage Supplier Empty Through ALL 2009
Learn How to Pack Your Own
July 21, 2008
By Holly Deyo
It came to our attention today, that the world's largest producer of storable foods, Mountain House, is currently out of stock of ALL #10 cans of freeze dried foods, not just the Turkey Tetrazzini (pictured right). They will NOT have product now through ALL of 2009.
This information was learned by a Mountain House dealer who shared it with me this morning. In personally talking with the company immediately after, Mountain House verified the information is true. Customer service stated, "I'm surprised they don't have this posted on the website yet." She said they have such a backlog of orders, Mountain House will not be taking any #10 can food requests through the remainder of this year and all of the next.
Mountain House claims this situation is due to a backlog of orders, which may very well be true, but who is purchasing all of their food? This is a massive global corporation.
One idea: the military. Tensions are ramping up with Iran and news segments debate whether or not we will implement a preemptive strike in conjunction with Israel.
This guess is further underscored by our experience at the Internet Grocer. In early June we placed an order with them for Red Feather Real Canned Butter. We brought this same canned butter back with us from Australia – at about half the price. Now it's looking good at any price. It took 6 weeks for the order to arrive due to a major buyout from "the feds". Here is Internet Grocer's posted message:
We're told that the feds bought the entire container of canned butter when it hit the California docks. (Something's up!) Butter arrived first week of June. Get your Butter order in NOW to have yours set aside. We're working to fill back-orders now.
If you dig further on the Internet Grocer site, you find that the military did indeed purchase a large quantity of Mountain House foods, too. Internet Grocer however, is out of the loop on the extent of Mountain House's backlog saying the delay will be 20 weeks, when it is now extended to 76 weeks.
These companies are not alone. People are finally awakened that time is running out. In late May, Fox News aired a live preparedness seminar and they warned people NOT to expect emergency supplies to be provided by the government and that they need to be self-sufficient. Will you be prepared?
SOLUTIONS
1. Some Mountain House dealers may still have #10 cans available. You will need to locate them and contact them directly.... Search Online Dealers.
2. You might check with The Freeze Dry Guy at 866.404.3663 (FOOD) to see if he has supplies available.
3. Always a great option, buy your own bulk foods and pack them for long-term storage. It's easy and you'll have the knowledge at your fingertips whenever you want to set food aside. It eliminates having to depend on vendor, trucker and gouging grocers. You pack what you want to eat and in the quantity that works best for your family.

My cherry harvest is over,
dried, vacuum packed, and in the freezer. There will be cherry pies all winter. My raspberry season is in full swing. What I pick gets washed and frozen to wait for Husband to make jam and syrup from it (he's the canner in the family). The tomatoes are coming right along in their cold frame (necessary for them, even in summer), the mini pumpkins are numerous and swelling before my very eyes, and I just hacked off the first zucchini of the summer. Due to a cold summer and the honey in the hives is low. The blackberries are just blooming. The walnut tree has hardly any nuts on it this year, which has never happened before. Reporting from nature's half acre......
Cherry harvest
How do you keep the birds from eating your cherries. I've never had good luck with them, and didn't get any peaches this year because of the squirrels.
Wow - sound like a great harvest.
You may want to inform your bees about global warming so they will produce more honey. lol
Sorry couldn't resist.
I have been giving them intimidating,
educational lectures about how warm it really is. From a distance, of course, ha ha!
We had snow on June 10, and about 10 days ago a large area near us had a frost which, once again, killed everyone's tomatoes, etc. Happily, we were not badly affected. The snow made some of my squash type plants' leaves die, but most of the actual plants survived to grow new leaves. We might have to put large areas of our gardens under cold frames if this global warming keeps up.
carrot, may I ask what
carrot,
may I ask what state you live in?for the first time in 15 years mine or my neighbors apple trees are not going to have ANY apples... also how many walnut trees do you have?
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
I'm in north central Idaho.
We have one giant walnut tree that shades half the house. Interesting about the apple trees--our 6 pear trees are very, very bare this year, too. Our neighbors, who have multiple plum and apple trees, have nothing on them this year. Usually their trees are LOADED with fruit. Without a transportation system this is how famine happens.
I like your omnipresent quote from Joshua.
Gardens ...
Some of us don't have the room for gardens. However I do own a share in a dairy cow and I stock up on as many things as I can from the farmers market. My wife and I made mozzarella, ricotta, and stocked away a ton of whey yesterday. My wife also spent a good part of the evening canning cherries, making jellies, and pickling green beans, onions, cauliflower, and cucumbers. we are becoming a well stocked household.
I'm confused
as to how much for how long. I have about 6 months worth.
Sando, 6 months is great
Sando,
6 months is great but I would strive for a 2 year storage plan for every member of your household... like I said above, my apple trees have 0 apples on them this year... and that is a first since I planted the trees 15 years ago.. we had weird weather here in the spring... mountain house is OUT of #10 cans of food which are the size people buy to store for long term.. mountain house freezedried foods have a storage shelf life of up to 50 years.. www.emergencyessentials has another company that makes freezedry foods too. I don't know the availability for them.
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
The LDS have been
stockpiling to cover a year. They, of course, intend on helping their neighbors, if necessary.
They also have Heirloom Seeds canned and saved. Some put them in the freezer. I would think canning is best in case of shortage of electric or turned off for long periods of time just to destroy stockpiled food.
I say, can as much as pollible!
Six Months is excellent
I would encourage people to think of stockpiling as a defence against inflation.
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
Inflation is why I have,
for example, 80 pairs of socks stashed away, not because I think there will be a sock shortage.
Very good example.
If socks cost five times as many federal reserve notes in a year, it might be an idea to stash a lifetime supply!
While I don't have as many pairs as CarrotTop, I probably have Britain's largest supply of ODD socks. 14 and counting. Just the thing to cultivate that "eccentric" or "absent-minded" look.
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
now you guys are starting to
now you guys are starting to get it.. were going into a inflationary depression.. all the things we need to live will be going up in price quickly... all the "wants" will deflate! buying now is going to save you cash!
as for me and my home, we shall worship the LORD
Stocking up on canned goods might be an idea.
Although I'm only the zillionth person to say that on the Daily Paul ;-)
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
How do you know how much you have?
My family has been buying canned goods here and there...but I am not a good judge on how far it will go. Is there a accurate way of estimating how much you need to last how long?
Label the cans with dates
and use them in a FIFO(first in first out) rotation, and you'll get some idea of how fast you use them.
Also, most canned goods will last way longer than what they say on the cans, or that you might suspect.
I've used canned goods that were 5 years old, and couldn't tell the difference from new.
Sometimes canned goods that are that old
acquire a metallic can taste, but they're still good to eat, I assume.
Storage space and money...
...are the main constraints. I live in the city, so storage space is the big limiting factor. Someone who shares an apartment in Manhattan or central London (for example) would not be able to implement this strategy very far, for obvious reasons.
Likewise, if you have a family of ten living in a four bedroom house, there will be difficulties!
But for most people in provincial cities, the suburbs or rural areas stockpiling could work just fine. In fact, rural dwellers have been buying in bulk to save money for a long time - even if they weren't stockpiling.
I would think in terms of limiting factors - money and space - rather than "how long could I hold out?".
Anything non-perishable that you use alot may be worth stockpiling - not just food.
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."
The point of the article is
that the government is stockpiling food so everyday citizens are unable to purchase it for themselves and their families.
The "G" has been stockpiling
food and survival materials for years. They have their underground bunkers and they are stocked to sustain many people for many years.
Sad to think we have all contributed via the fruit of our labor to their survival in these bunkers......Now they are creating a shortage to hender our efforts to survive...........They also have a seed vault
They have their seed vault,
and I have mine....
i need to order some seeds
Great you got yours already!! where did you get yours? Anyone......
Exactly.
Its a good article. Americans need to stock up on food. Ditto for many Europeans. There is a global food crisis at the moment. There have been food riots in the third world. The federal government wants people to bow down and beg.
-"Ron Paul cured me of my predilection for Che Guevara T shirts."

Do Not "Prepare" On The Basis Of Internet Hysteria
It seems to me that socks, blankets, underwear, clothing, etc. would all be appropriate preparedness stockpile items. In the long term, a fair number of us will be able to produce a certain amount of our own food. Far fewer will be able to weave their own cloth or spin their own thread. Shoes are easier to store than they are to make.
Put in a box of sewing needles while you're at it. And lots of thread.
As to the story that "the Feds" are buying up large amounts of non-perishable food, it seems odd that a machine as massive as our government would bother buying up stock from assorted specialty companies, at least one of them a rather small-scale importer. Particularly considering the ease with which word would get out (assuming secrecy is intended).
The Federal government already has contracts with some of the largest packing and food processing firms in the world, which produce food for the military and other purposes. If one wanted to stockpile a large amount of food secretly, it would make far more sense to simply draft another contract and have one or more of the companies now making MREs and field kitchen rations turn one of its assembly lines over to making canned food for a while. For all we know, something of the sort is going on right now....there would be no noticeable difference.
In the days when Mount Weather and similar facilities were hidden in various places around the country, they were all routinely supplied through normal wholesale outlets. Staff at the cover facilities for such places were often well aware of the clandestine operations since when the "bunker food" was being rotated, it was often fed to them.
What "the Feds" could possibly do with a containerload of canned butter I have no idea. One can't live on the stuff--it's certainly not part of my personal stockpile (though I can buy it right off the shelf at a local grocer). If indeed something clandestine was going on, it would be far simply and much harder to detect to simply place orders with existing food contractors and continue business as usual.
Whether this is a publicity stunt by Mountain House, The Internet Grocer, or some other entity, I do not know. However, I see nothing in the widely forwarded and repeated article to cause me the slightest concern.
