It looks like THIS is what hit the Pentagon on 9/11. No wonder they won't release any video. The hole in the building was always deemed too small to have been made by a Boeing 737, and this would seem to make sense. These links are very informative and worth a look. Check it out for yourself:

My sense is that these are "side arguments"
that are designed to get people off on "tangents."
WTC 7 is the only game in town. The Pentagon has too much stuff to argue about endlessly. The feds explained the Pentagon in their wild and wooly way

what is the understanding of what actually happened to the plane that was reported to have gone into the Pentagon? Would all 4 planes have been downed in the same place, like in the ocean?

It would be foolish to waste even one cent of effort to answer such a dumb question. The event that had many eyewitnesses, not to mention a missing plane (the parts of which were strewn around the pentagon, and identified, as well as body parts. )
Have you ever been around the pentagon, do you realize how populated the area is, and how many eyewitnesses there were ?

For those of us who weren't there personally, why should we rely on hearsay or 'witness' statements when we don't have to? For the bargain price of absolutely FREE, the Pentagon could just release their videos and prove absolutely that it WAS a passenger jet, with no room for debate. It costs nothing, and the benefits would be priceless to everyone involved, UNLESS they have something to hide.

It has been proven objectively
1. Multiple eye witness testimony - note Multiple.
2. Debris, including body parts, from said plane found at the pentagon.
3. Radar data from national airport, which is very close to the pentagon.
The evidence is already objectively conclusive. There is nothing to be gained by the pentagon from releasing the tapes. The downsides to the pentagon for releasing tapes.
1. Charlatans modifying the tapes.
2. Idiots claiming that the tapes were modified by the pentagon.
3. Unexplainable anomalies on the tapes, from an innocent source like noise, RF interference, etc. fueling paranoid speculation.
4. They may believe that if they "give in" to demands of the truth movement, it will give the movement credibility, and then they will have to answer every scatterbrained request. In some ways it is a move to show the weakness and impotence of the truth movement - I personally don't believe this is as good a reason to hold the video, but knowing how politicians think, I'd say it might be one of the reasons.
