Man, Hotels are Expensive! How about under $50 for the whole weekend?
I am camping at the Eau Galle Recreation Area, 45 mins from the rally. I had to rent the site for an extra day because you must stay 3 nights on holiday weekends, but my total was under $50 for all 3 nights (Aug 31-Sept-3). You can reserve online ( http://www.recreation.gov... )
If you do go camping, anywhere, bring a Ron Paul Yard sign. The campground is on a 150-acre lake and seems to have a good amount of amenities.
I have no doubt that there are closer campgrounds. I enjoy state parks and am willing to drive the 45 min. to the event. If you know a better campground please share it with the community.
Make any arrangements you can. You will regret not being part of this.

anybody going to an rv park?

How about a thread to post and share excess room capacity?
If someone wants to share motel or rental car expenses with others, we ought to have a thread for this. E.g. So and so has a room with two queen size beds, would be willing to share with someone who meets x and y and z qualifications (non-smoker, gender, etc.).
Same for rental cars.
Maybe someone with programming experience could put together a website where this can be done.
Really good idea
Maybe CFL could add that to their lodging page. There needs one co-ordinated spot for all of this info.
Check it out
Uh, hello. We already have a meetup for that, the Rally for the Republic Official Travel meetup group.
Check out my post about it here: http://www.dailypaul.com/...

uh, hello...
Where is the information about sharing rooms, rides, and rentals?
other thread
I believe that there are links in the other thread for the Rally for the Republic Official Travel meetup group for the Ronvoys. We had a lot of success with Ronvoys to the Revolution March! And we stayed at a campgrounds outside of DC (Camp Mawavi) for just $20 for two nights. Our round trip to DC from Chicago for car, gas, and lodging was $125 per person.
It looks like Susan is trying to repeat this success for the Rally for the Republic.
I'm just trying to help get the information out to everyone. Sorry if I came off like a smart-ass. Bad habit.

Uh, hello? Your post says nothing about what I mentioned.
Apparently I missed it! Perhaps because your post talks only about DONATING TO RONVOYS. Nowhere did your post mention anything about room sharing or rental car sharing.
I'll check out the Meetup, but if you intend to encompass the things I mentioned, your post needs to say something about them!
Rally lodging...
We're going to be throwing away a whole bunch of hotel rooms because our people haven't reserved them. We have blocks reserved, all listed on the rally site at http://rally.campaignforl... Many of them are set to be released to the public on Aug 1. Could you get the word out that they're there? People are either waiting until last minute or just don't know they're there.
They MUST ask for the Campaign for Liberty block! (Otherwise they'll be told they're sold out.)
Never saw that before!
Never saw that before!
I managed to get a Motel 6 room for $60 a night.
In going through the CFL hotel list, I noticed that most hotels are easily 20-40 miles away from the various venues we will be at (and even those venues are 10-20 miles from each other).
I got a room at a Motel 6 for 60 bucks a night plus tax, and it is about a half hour drive into each of the venues.
Great American Walk for Freedom
I could go for this. thanks for the heads up...if there is a group, maybe we could arrange for a van.
and, re: the Great American Walk for Freedom, I just donated some bucks to them. I wish them well. does anyone have any updates on this event?
This seems like a joke..
Here we are fighting for Liberty and smaller government, and you come along and ask us to visit http://www.recreation.gov
Please excuse me, but lets find some coherency in our actions.
Peace
P.S. No offense man, but think about what I am talking about..
You are free to feel that way
..but I would like to know how State Parks affect the size and scope of our government? I am also curious if you find it implausible for a large hotel chain to donate to the current crop of corrupt politicians for zoning privileges?
P.S. I appreciate your criticism, but think about what I am talking about.
I have no problem paying the government for a campsite
I'd PREFER to pay the government for a campsite, than for those campsites to be free. Making them free means everyone pays for them, including people who never camp. At least charging for the campsite places the expense of the camping on the person who camps. This is a *good* thing.
Of course you can argue that the government should not be in the campsite business, and I would agree.
Exactly
"Of course you can argue that the government should not be in the campsite business, and I would agree."
Exactly.
If the government should not be in that business, then we should not support it. I know it is not an easy thing to do, but it is the right thing to do.
This is only my opinion and I respect every ones freedom to stay and spend their money wherever they would like to, but if we defend a reduced for of government, and then go and purchase the existing governments services, I believe there is some room for a self contradiction that we should avoid.
Peace and keep up the good work folks.
If I couldn't pay the government for a campsite
Then I could practically never go camping in my state.
Sorry, I like my camping. I'm not going to disallow my children the important childhood experiences of the outdoors just due to some unrealistic absolutist viewpoint that the government should not be renting campsites. I agree they should not be, but since they own 60% of the land in this state, and practically all of the wilderness, that is the reality in which I must operate.
Even Ron Paul has a realistic viewpoint on how to handle some of the major problems, such as the Fed and Social Security, despite his extremely principled stands on those topics.
akaRon
Right on - follow principles.
Many still don't "get it" even though they believe they understand.
Well put!
Here is some great info
Here is some great info on traveling to the Rally for the Republic Ronvoy-style and to help fellow liberty-lovers who will be traveling to the Rally for the Republic (great if you cannot attend the Rally yourself but would like to help make it a huge success). http://www.dailypaul.com/...

Noseeums
You haven't lived unless you you've spent the night with a cloud of noseeums! Those little critters will come right through the screen on your tent and keep you painful company until morning. Better get an air conditioned RV if you plan on using a campground in August in MN. And don't plan on swimming in the lake. The natives will tell you the water's warm if the temp. hit 70 degrees. Been there. DONE THAT.
How about YMCAs?
You might check out the local Ys in Minneapolis. Some enterprising MN delegate might also get cooperation from a local school board or church to set up cots in a gym. You won't know until you ask...

try going to hotwire .com
to book accommodations...
I plan on using a camp site,
I plan on using a camp site, though I have to make sure to find one with showers.
if your going to try to book
if your going to try to book something really close to the events your going to get nailed .. this is the same week and days as the republican convention .... so they are jacking up the prices ... however it would be cheaper to to get a hotel miles away and just get a cab in or something... i think i found one for 90 a night ... try splitting the room with other people and prices will go down ...thats the cheapest best and available one i found ...
there are a few cheaper but probably far away
Yeah,
Yeah, I need cheaper housing too.
Where are the mom and pop motels around Target Center.?
