So You Think McCain Has Won The Republican Nomination?

Not to be too technical here, but McCain has not won anything as of yet other than some "bound" delegates. A lot can happen at the convention. While the chances are slim that delegates will sit out the first round of voting, most Republican's I know are pretty discussed with the propped up PRESUMPTIVE nominee McCain.

If you think my idea of a revolt at the convention is out of consideration, please take a look at the Bull Moose Party years as well as Abraham Lincoln. In fact historian Michael Beschloss pointed out on a PBS Online Newshour Interview, "From the beginning of the presidential nominating conventions in the 1830's really through the 1950's, you had conventions that actually did real business. And by that, I mean you had delegates who came to a convention and they wouldn't really know for sure who would be the nominee who would come out of that convention in most cases because not only were the delegates divided but they also were not pledged undyingly to a particular candidate. For instance, a delegate could come to a convention, pledged perhaps to Franklin Pierce, but then perhaps between the time he was made a delegate and the time he came to the convention, he might think perhaps Pierce was not a good idea and change his vote to someone else. So the result was that as one approached a political convention for most of the 19th century and for most of the 20th century until the 1960's, part of the drama was the fact that you didn't know ultimately who was going to be the nominee at the end of that convention week. Oftentimes during the period in which conventions really did business, you had situations where the delegates were divided and you would have ballot after ballot before there was a final nominee."

He also adds, "One example was the Republicans in Chicago, 1920. There was a deadlock among a number of candidates, a number of ballots, until you finally had leaders of the party retreating into the famous back smoke-filled rooms, and that's where that term first came from, in which they decided on a dark horse, Senator Warren Harding of Ohio. They agreed to throw their votes to him. And so the result was that Harding, who was a figure whom many Americans had never heard of, turned out to be the nominee at the end of that week, something that was a surprise to everyone but the only solution to a very divided convention. Four years later, 1924, the Democrats had roughly the same experience, but they went actually through nine very hot days to 103 ballots, until they finally nominated John Davis, who was a rather obscure West Virginia lawyer, as their compromise candidate, after this great nine days of very raucous divisions that threatened to tear apart that party."

Most people have not taken the time to get informed on politics and they instead focus on what the Media Machine tells them to think. Do yourself a favor and open a history book.

For those of you who do not believe me, take the time to open up some of the books, you would see that both McCain and Obama have trampled and will continue to trample the values that were set forth in our Constitution. Also, you would see that none of the current candidate, aside from Dr. Congressman Ron Paul, wish to address the unconstitutional Federal Reserve.

Most of the people that do not like Ron Paul have never taken the time to fully understand his points-of-view other than the 30-second sound bites from the media that we are fed. This Rally for the Republic has invited delegates to the floor and there will be our opportunity to "give them their political education". We also have the DVD for Delegates plan that should help in urging the delegates to consider what they are really doing to our country with a vote for McCain. The vote is out of the hands of the public and into the hands of the delegates. We cannot give up at this most crucial time.

Don't forget about The Regan

Don't forget about The Regan Raider's. Dr. Paul worked with them to get Regan elected.

Great!

You could think, a pledged delegate must vote for the candidate who he is pledged for, because otherwise he would act unethically, but eventually you can think: Well, the party members voted for this special delegate, this special human being, with his judgment, conscience and rationality, and that includes the possibility for him to change his vote if he thinks that he have to change his vote because of his conscience.

That's big 10/4 bump good buddy

President Ron Paul:)

It´s not unethical for delegates to change their votes, because they got the votes from party members because of their whole character which includes rationality, ability to judge and conscience, i.e. the possibility to change their mind regarding the candidate at the convention to vote for.

There is no ethical problem.

Except for the fact that the Republican party doesn't like

ethics!!! LOL THERE'S you're 'ethical problem'!!! ;-) If anyone cared about ethics, this country would not be in such a sorry state of affairs!
President Ron Paul anyone??? :-)

Thanks, TimG, for this

Thanks, TimG, for this insightful and timely post. Thanks for the effort you put into writing it. It's good to see that there are some of us here that still think that Ron Paul is still a matter worthy of discussion and support.

I love this post

it is great to see some of us sticking it out to the end. Our delegates have a fire in them that none of the other candidates delegates have. It is that fire that could change the tide of this election. www.dvds4delegates.com is the icing on the cake. I am with you, Ron Paul all the way. You Rock!!!!! Let's finish what we started.

I love this post too...and you are so right!

I haven't worked this hard for a political campaign, and I didn't give nearly half of last year's income to the campaign and spreading the message (besides making my husband a RP widower) to even think of quitting now. I will see my investment in my country through, Thank you.

I'll bump to that!

Thanks

Much appreciated.

Bumping This Is Good

Bumping the delegates is better. If you have not bought your ticket for the Rally, please do and contact your local meetup group. There are many shared rides, busing options, and more available. If you do not have the money, some of us will be organizing the purchase of additional tickets to donate to those in need. We need to dwarf the march and really support this grand event.
