Here is what you all inspired me to do
I was looking to invest in a business that is recession proof. From some on this site, we all know our economy may take a dive. Investing in gold, silver, and copper, etc. are wise things to do in a faltering economy. I learned this from you all, so thanks. So I asked myself what business would be a smart move in an economy that was dying?
I got my answer, a junkyard. When the economy falls, more people scrap metals, which means more product for me. All my money will be tied up into junk cars which are made of steal, copper, and aluminum, mainly. I will essentially be sitting on a product that will go up in value. Finally, in a faltering economy more people fix their cars than buy new ones, In turn causing me to sell more used parts, to fix their cars. I see this as one of the safest businesses to be in right now.
Although I do not know how steel, and aluminum are effected by the falling dollar, I assume it is the same as any metal. I closed the deal today, I owe you a big thanks for all the great words of wisdom I get on here daily. Keep up the great work.
P.S. there is also a lot of big trunks to hide certain things in that may become useful, and plenty of room to grow food if necessary, and lots of cars to hide in, if they come looking for us.
Maybe I am just nuts, but seems like a good decision. Anyone that can give me an idea of how steel and aluminum are effected would be appreciated, Steel has been on a steady incline the past year, it is at it's highest price per ton, ever.

Metal must be big
Because in Phoenix they are stealing manhole covers and the grates on the drains. Pretty crazy stuff.
Good for you. We are all making some proactive decisions, I believe. We are working on buying property in Ecuador.

www.dvds4delegates.com the newest and possibly the greatest weapon the Revolution now possesses.
first of all, thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. If the poop hits the fan, you are all welcome to camp out with me. There is a creek behind the property I believe which will be some good water supply, and we will have plenty of steel to make some good stuff. We can make some mad max type cars or some shit, if necessary. You are all welcome. It is in Ohio. Anyone interested in a junk yard or starting a business should check into it. A bank will not finance a junkyard, so a lot of times the person selling will take some money down, and finance the rest. We put about $30,000 down and have a payment of $800.00 a month to own the property, building, and eighty cars. I think you can pretty much find these junkyards in any state, for sale. I think it is one of the safest businesses to enter into right now. Someone below posted about their 77 honda, I say put the car on craigslist or ebay, someone out there will definitely buy it, that car will get more response then you think. There is not much fence around the back of the lot, but there is a lot of trees, The front of the place has about a 12 foot high gate. I will keep you all posted on how it goes, once again you are all welcome to come out if there is no place safe where you are at, if the USA goes crazy. I mean that. Thank you all for your kind words, I also wish you all the best in whatever accomplishments you are involved in. Keep up the great work, we have one more shot at getting Ron Paul in the White House. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are imaginative and creative it should serve you well. Peace
Do you take consignments?
I have a 1977 Honda Accord that keeps going up in value. I'm not sure whether to keep driving it or sell it. It's possible the parts may be worth more than the whole.
Good luck.

Junk Yards
are a great business in my opinion although you may want to upscale and call it an automobile reclamation center. lol.
My daughter recently wrecked her car. I went straight to the yard and found the exactl make/model with near new parts for her restoration. I saved literally hundreds of dollars over new OEM parts. This is the kind of business that helps people in these times and can be very profitable for the owner. Thanks and best wishes.
As far as stealing metals.....
Thanks to technology, catalytic converters are number one on the hit chart. Locally at the lakes where a boat ramp may be off the normal beat and path they are using reciprocating saws with batteries to drop under trucks and cut these off in less than 1 minute. The platinum found inside these units brings in roughly $135.00, how do I know you ask? I was getting a hair cut and the barber’s son called to tell him that they were approaching the boat ramp and saw a guy get out from under his truck saw in one hand and converter in the other. Jumped into his truck and fled.
The local news warned that Toyota Tacoma’s and larger Toyota trucks are the number one target as there is more available platinum in these converters than a standard American auto, so just be careful. As times get tougher we are going to see an explosion in crime, and this will be a huge target for these folks. I just hope I don’t catch anyone near my truck or the only metal they will be taking with them is piping hot lead.

Excellent career move!
If you need to hide any hardware you won't have to worry about getting it sniffed out by metal detectors. Just don't plant a garden anywhere near the cars or downhill from them either. They are going to be putting all kinds of nasty stuff in the ground and you don't want that getting in your food supply.

Congrats! I'm so
Congrats! I'm so jealous...I've talked about owning a junkyard for years and years! A very good business in my opinion...then tie in the tow truck business with it...spectacular and once again Congrats!!!

I wish you..
all the best in your new endeavor. Daily Paul has been very inspirational for me as well. Since I've been educated by Ron Paul as well as Daily Paul I have started regularly purchasing silver, stocking up on food and ammo, and my fiance and I have grown our first garden together (and very successfully might I add). It's so nice to be around people that are knowledgeable and awake.
firsts off your not nuts....anyone who is not thinking in a pro-
active way is nuts...either because they are in denial...or they are paralyzed by fear...You are neither!!
"Trunks for hiding things"
if Ron Paul does not get the nomination...the I would start investing heavily in ammo...(since you have a place to put it...safely) dont buy enough to be on anyones radar..but perhaps a box or two a day...from some where that does not track you....just slowly stock up...(if we ever have a Rev. War/civil war you will be a leader--so prepare)
"plenty of room to grow food "
start growing some easy food ( I know its late in the season...but maybe potatoes...carrots...or beets...root vegetables might still be able to be grown...and I think you can store them as well.)
also get a website...something simple...that lets people know you are around and open....
good luck(now I know why I haven't seen you ....)
Best wishes
to you on your business venture.
If you've not owned a business before, you'll be shocked and horrified at the paperwork, forms, and taxes. And it gets worse every year.
That said, there's also nothing quite like working for yourself.
Wishing you much success!
A Good Idea
A junkyard is a good idea if it is approached right and can be very profitable (in Millions). If you make a clean yard with cars in order for people to get parts from.Rows of cars by manufacture on supports for easy access.Charge a small fee to enter your yard and sell the parts reasonable. When your cars are stripped enough sell the frames and what's left for scrap metal. If done right you will make huge profits.
.
.
I am still here, FYI : I heard that metal
theft is on the rise. Certain metals stolen/stripped (catalytic converters?) from autos parked in long term airport parking, manhole covers, etc. So our gov may start requiring a papertrail for all metals bought and sold.
hey tog...you should make a simple website for your
business...I bet alot of people would love to see it....
GOOD LUCK !!!

good for you
I need a tail light for a 98 ford explorer lol
I think a lot more people are turning to junk yards for parts now. At least from what I have noticed. I can't afford new parts for some things, and I cannot afford to pay someone to fix it. So I fix my own stuff with good used parts.. I imagine that more people will turn to this as things get worse.
OMG, tog!
That is awesome!

I say go for it
People will always be needing car parts
Plus you cant beat working for yourself.
Well, I would say you missed
Well, I would say you missed the boat. The time to buy junkyards was before 2001. Metal prices have already skyrocketed so much, you missed a lot of profit. ALso watch out for chemical disposal fees and such.
