Paul On Fox News Discussing Marijuana Decriminalization
Nystrom's Comment: We interrupt this broadcast to bring you the truth. After all the favorable coverage Dr. Paul has been getting in the news recently, in this piece he got set up. Fox news wanted to push their agenda, and they used Dr. Paul as a boogy man. For the best book to educate yourself on the marijuana and hemp issues, check out The Emperor Wears No Clothes, by Jack Herrer. This was one of the first books, about ten years ago, that introduced me to the ideas of corporatism and government fascism and the idea that things are not what they appear to be. Don't forget that not only is marijuana illegal, but so is industrial hemp, which contains no THC - the substance that gets people "high." Why is that? It has something to do with competitive products like paper and nylon, controlled by big corporations like Hearst and Dupont. Get the story from this book. I promise that you won't be disappointed. (No, I don't smoke but I have plenty of responsible friends who do.)

Marijuana is NOT the issue
I read some of the posts here and thought I would suggest something important when discussing this issue.
It is utterly irrelevant whether smoking marijuana is good, bad, or neither. It's a red herring. Don't fall for it.
The issue of its legality is a fundamental question of the proper role of government and laws. When you discuss this issue with those who might disagree, discussing the merits of marijuana itself is a waste of time and hurts our position.
The rightful (and only rightful) purpose of government and laws is to protect rights. Maximum freedom is attained by the careful balance of: "your rights end where someone else's rights begins".
In the case of drugs--the act of taking drugs in and of itself does not infringe on anyone else's rights. Drugs can be used to or involved in crimes, but other people are involved in those cases.
Some argue that drug use leads to crimes and thus we should outlaw the drugs because the crime that is thus caused. Then we'd be getting into pre-crime. I think it's fairly easy to suggest what a general doctrine of criminalizing pre-crime would do. "100% of criminals drank water within 3 days of committing a crime"--bust all those water drinkers!
Anyway, I urge the general public debate--the merits of marijuana are a red herring, avoid discussing it if you want to discuss whether it should be legalized or not. There should be no law against the act of ingesting anything simply because it infringes on no one else's rights. That's it.
I personally consider it harmful to take marijuana (and such drugs), alcohol (which is why I find the comparison to alcohol funny and meaningless--so don't drink alcohol either!), coffee, and other things and would be an advocate for not consuming those things. However, that's my worldview, and we don't need the government imposing any certain worldview on the populace. That's one of the primary reasons the first settlers came to this continent from Europe: freedom to have one's own view on things!
Good point
The real issue is rights.
Think they "set up" the Congressman?
I suppose it looks like it, and I wouldn't doubt it. But the thing is, she didn't rebut his main point at all: You just don't legislate morality. If someone wants to harm themselves, that's their business. Even IF marijuana is more harmful than alcohol/tobacco (a bit of a stretch, at the very least), that still isn't enough reason to make it illegal.
Even without the last word, Mr. Paul wins this argument easily.
What she said about Holland
What she said about Holland is complete utter FAUX BULLSHIT.
lets look at the facts

Prohibition DOES NOT WORK
Because of this video
I for some reason started researching hemp. Go figure.
Long story short, copy and paste "hemp +dupont" in to google's search box and a whole different story begins to emerge.
If I have learned nothing else, I have learned that following the money leads to more "truth" than anything else.
It's a shame that it seems that the "truth" of most matters turns out to not really be good for average, run-of-the-mill people like myself but rather "profitable" for run-of-the-mill politicians.

What a bunch of BS!
Oh, so they're not putting people in jail for small amounts? If so, it's because that person had THOUSANDS to spend on their defense. All these drug laws are is revenue makers for our massas. Get arrested, have to spend money for: bail, an attorney, etc. The massa gets to tax us to get money for the DEA, prosecutors, sentencing, jails, jail employees, etc. If they made it legal, they would lose this WONDERFUL cash cow! It has nothing to do with keeping it unlawful to protect peoples' well being! What on earth would we do if there was no reason to rob & hurt people to get money for drugs, if drugs cost next to nothing & were legal? What on earth would all the pd's & drug agencies do if they couldn't sieze our property just because they thought we had drugs? Cmon folks - we gotta keep the pigs in shit!
And don't forget
all the money from seizing assets. Everyone in jail not only represents part of the slave labor force, but also all of their possessions which are taken BEFORE being found guilty of any crime.

She witheld information as the DA in a murder case that could have helped an innocent man. Not only is she not qualified as a medical witness but she is not on solid ground with her legal issues. Maybe she needs to read the 9th amendment!!
What can you expect from a Judge anyway.
I think she (the Judge) is just another out of touch ex-public offical.
Check out this site http://www.jackherer.com/ and read some of the things that he says about the studies that have been done and most of the anti-pot laws are all based on junk science to begin with.
I have smoked weed for 30 years. I'm 46 years old never been in
jail and never been unemployed. I make a very nice living.
You can eat pharmaceutical drugs and drink alcohol, but you will go to jail for smoking a weed. Frankly, I am tired of paying for room and board, health care and all the court costs for a person who wants to smoke.

Rememeber this
Fox news is ALL about propaganda.
All about information management.
Do you think they put Dr. Paul on the TV in service to liberty?
You think they set Murdoch's agenda aside for one second?
They are using Dr. Paul and the Doc knows it.
The Doc has walked into their "set ups" since the beginning and he does it anyway.
He does it because he IS THE MAN.
Hannity, and Cavuto have never done anything but piss on the doc. NOTHING.
The Doc knows he can still deliver the truth while these scum try to paint him.
Watch how Dr. Paul handles the screw job. Watch the gutless little coward Cavuto as he does his master's bidding and paints the Doc as anything less than a fine man. It is all about "association" and Fox and CNN are masters at it.
They are propagandist scum. Repeat that to yourself as you watch it and then...SHUT IT OFF.
Stop acting like these news shows are trying to help us. Once you do that you can understand the truth and help everyone.
Learn this from this media crap.
Dr. Paul walks into these so called interviews and allows these animals to treat him like dirt for the simple reason that Dr. Paul believes in God.

i agree with RP's stance, but I too tell the truth. From a PR stance, it harms him with a lot of people. I'll tell you like it is from my standpoint. With all the problems we have right now, smoking pot is not at the top of the list.
Its not important surface level...
but on a philosophical level.....its of the utmost significance.
If this was to succeed the idea that I own my own body and am free to do with it what I choose would succeed.
That my friend, is a big plank of the ideology of liberty.
Very good point

exactly!!
tha is why it is important and also because it would start the ball rolling on ridding ourselves of the war on drugs. there is no war and yet they make sure it continues. sick.

All I want is a vote
I'm not holding out some hope that this bill will actually pass. I'm madly hoping that it will somehow find it's way out of commitee (the terminal point for almost all good legislation) and onto the floor for a vote.
If Barney and the good doctor can somehow get this bill on the floor, then we'll get to find out who in congress is listening to their consituants. Then we can shout loud and clear which congressmen are standing in the way of progress, and make them join the ranks of the jobless.
How? What better way to get lazy stoners off their couches and to the polls in November than to tell them that their representative in congress wants them in jail.
Please...get this bill to the floor as fast as you can.
I know more wealthy stoners...
than poor ones and who are anathema to "lazy stoners".. The fact is that most of those that I know (I'm 50) that still smoke pot are also among the most productive friends that I have. The caveat to that are the friends that I have who still smoke yet have alcohol problems as well. It is substance abuse, typified by heavy drinking that ruins people...not smoking a joint before bed...
**“The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them.” ~ Mark Twain **
I don't mean to pigeonhole
There are certainly people who indulge in every vice imaginable and still lead very productive lives...these people are counterexamples to the stereotype lazy stoner...I agree.
But there are millions of 20 somethings in this country who care nothing but where their next baggie will come from...and these people generally aren't motivated to get up and vote...unless we can show them that their congressman thinks of them as a federal criminal.
Well, heh, you are
I am 23 years old.
I graduated from my university over a year ago with a degree in accounting/economics.
I have a productive job. I work out. I play my guitar. I write. I am heavily involved in politics.
....and I smoke almost every night before I go to bed.
Yeah, I was one of those "20 somethings"...
back in the day. Their biggest problem in finding motivation is the dichotomy that arises from the "team" indoctrination that takes place throughout the schooling years. They (we) have been taught that the team is what is important and what will be there to support them in their life's endeavors. Sadly, it is the crude awakening to the fact that it is "individual" effort that sustains you...not the group. The group/team paradigm dissappears with the closing of the school's doors behind you.
Once this paradigm shift hits...it is difficult to re-acclimate to reality...that this is truly a "dog eat dog" world. Getting stoned is easier than affecting "change"...certainly it is easier than voting for it...

notice how they would not
notice how they would not let Paul rebutt pirro... lol they are afraid of the DOCTOR!

Well, I think they asked Mr Paul because they wanted to know the opinion of the possible next president of the United States? :)
Silly and Transparent
She tried.
But the moment she said that no politician would support ending federal prohibition, she lost all credibility. I was so glad she used Ron Paul's name at the end. It was a mistake on her part.
IMissLiberty
Th emost important aspect of this is....
Each liberty loving citizen to learn their true responsibility when appointed to the grand jury, or even simple jury duty. If our politicians are not bold enough to do what is right to garner the support of individuals like the so called judge on Faux, then so be it. Let the people make the change, let the people prevail, and let the people run Fox news off the air and send them to all to work for Al-Jazeera where propaganda against their own people is equal that of Fox. Last night I heard Fox news and CNN announce that the surge was a success, and this is to boost McCain, but the reality from 7/29/2008 is this - http://therealnews.com/t/...
Just like the mis-information agents at Fox working for the White House on cover ups and propaganda against anyone who speaks out against the status quo, the truth will eventually catch up with them and the partisan fools that believe everything they hear there will loose confidence. When a news agency reports on a non lethal substance and being “killer”, “Gateway”, or any of these ridiculous claims they certainly loose more and more credibility as time goes forth… and they wonder why their ratings have fallen since 1/1/07…
In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.
~Mark Twain
Sadly...
Al-Jahzeera is probably the only MSM outlet that tells the truth! Propaganda seems to be the purview of our western outlets...led by the jerks at FOX.

So does caffeine.
That woman is no expert on anything. Not even hair styling..
As a matter of fact, quite a few politicians support this.
Teenagers smoking pot in Alaska...NOOOO!!!!!!
I went to HS in the 60s when grass was WAAAAYYYYY illegal, man. Almost every teenager I knew smoked it! In fact, it's illegality made it more attractive.
These two, I hate to call them women, because they seem to lack those qualities of mercy, tenderness and fairness that are associated with their sex, should move to Iran, before Obama bombs it.
"It's not goin to happen Jane". According to who? "Jeneanne...
"It's not going to happen Jane". According to whom? "Jeneane Puril", Corrupt Hired Fox Analyst, "Former Judge" Paid by the Government , to support Government interest.
We the people who understand the constitution are much more intelligent then Fox Analyst might think. Ron Paul was right on. And again, did they discuss the effects of marijuana on people compared to alcohol. Fact is most all judges and prosecuters receive a kick back for all convictions. So, the more bogus laws made the more people can be arrested. If people are arrested and convicted more money is made by the judge and prosecuter.
Here is the thinking of our government. In our state you will receive a ticket for not having a seat belt on while riding in a vehicle. However, you may ride a motorcycle, scooter, bicycle with no helmet or protective gear, safety belt, etc.. Let's think about that one.
You may smoke cigarettes with a label on the package telling you that you can and will die from cancer caused by smoking, and because the government tells people that you may smoke, people do it. The point is, people can choose if they want to smoke or not and understand the outcome without the government telling us.
Come on people. Let us continue to work on voting the dirty, corrupt individuals out of their elected positions while we still have the opportunity.
The interview with Ron Paul is a total POSITIVE. More air time. Both women in this interview were obviously out classed by Dr. Paul. If Ron Paul was not a threat they wouldn't have him on to try and railroad him. Even when trying to dismantle him, they sink. Reason why they have these type of individuals interviewing Ron Paul is because most of what he says goes right over their heads and they just keep right on smilin. Corruption reaps corruption. Each time they have Ron Paul on and try to work against him only drives another nail into the coffin of Fox and fires up the troops. So, I say keep interviewing him !
"Return of the Mega Bitch
"Return of the Mega Bitch Swamp Monster" ...now playing at a fox news channel near you.
That dirty filthy....
judge :).... does not realize that she is partaking in the greatest brain function manipulation by appearing on the "fux" news channel. She is a crook from way back. It is sad that the MSM, has to rely on people of this character to rebut their sick point of view. She needs to go home to her felon husband, twist up a doobie, and let her convict companion inject her lips with some more restylane. Then as her brain chemical (singular in her case) is reeling from the affects of the treatment, she needs to slip a garbage bag over her head and secure it snugly with velcro before she lays down for the evening.
run of the mill politicians
The "run of the mill politicians" she mentions are cowards, brainwashed morons, etc
That was the best thing she said...
Ron Paul is no "run-of-the-mill" politician. He's a Statesman for all of us.
At first I said... NO Dr Paul, don't set yourself up...
We all knew Fox News can't be trusted but Ron Paul did the interview anyway.
After seeing it I was amazed at our man.... He goes in and tells the truth no matter what!
He cares more about liberty, freedom and us than he does about how he LOOKS to the public. I'm sometimes slow on the take but I finally got it! lol What a guy!
Im also thinking the powers that be needed to try to take him down a notch and make him look kooky in case any of the fox fans might be looking into Dr Paul.
That in my opinion is a good thing, we are WINNING!
Jeanine Pirro
has quite a history:
http://www.youtube.com/wa...
War on Drugs
The “War on Drugs” has significantly created a National Police State. Congressman Paul’s concern is the protection of the people and their rights protected by the US Constitution and the effects of the growing national police state. Regarding drug or alcohol usage, Ron Paul does not personally support the use of drugs or alcohol. He is a very devout Christian that has proudly claimed a statement of faith. Even though he has never been one who is comfortable talking about my faith in the political arena. He has, stated that the pandering that typically occurs in the election season he finds to be distasteful. But for those who have asked him, he freely confesses that Jesus Christ is his personal Savior.
Dr Paul is a medical specialist that clearly understands the effects of drug and alcohol abuse and he and his wife are the proud parents of five children and have 17 grandchildren.
Ron Paul reminds us that our freedoms come not from man, not from government but from God. His record of public service reflects his reverence for the Natural Rights with which we have been endowed by a loving Creator.
However, just the same as Congressman has evaluated every decision made in congress, he defers to the rule of law, the constitution.
There are now over 3,000 federal laws and 10,000 regulations employing hundreds of thousands of bureaucrats diligently enforcing them, with over 80,000 of them carrying guns. We now have an armed national police state. If a constitutional republic is desired and individual liberty is cherished, this concentration of power cannot be tolerated.
Ron Paul clearly understands that the promoters of bureaucratic legislation claim to have good intentions but they fail to acknowledge the costs, the inefficiency or the undermining of individual rights.
Not only is the national Police state launching the war on drugs but also worker safety, environmental concerns, gun control, welfarism, banking regulations, government insurance, health programs, insurance against economic and natural disasters, and regulation of fish and wildlife land use. These are just a few of the issues that prompt the unlimited use of federal regulatory and legislative power to deal with perceived problems. But inevitably, for every attempt to solve one problem, government creates two new ones. National politicians aren't likely to volunteer a market or local-government solution to a problem, or they will find out how unnecessary they really are.
If the steady growth of the federal police power continues, the American Republic cannot survive. We have, in this past century, not only seen the undermining of the federalism that the Constitution desperately tried to preserve, but the principle of separations of power among the three branches of government has been severely compromised as well.
The legality of drugs and alcohol should be resolved by the people of each state. And in fact that is currently happening, every state has laws on their books addressing how the people of their state choose handle the conditions which drugs and alcohol can be manufactured sold and distributed and which are illegal to do the same.
The law enforcement of each state does not need the federal government instructing them on how to enforce their own laws. Currently if the state police or sheriff investigates a drug related crime, the crime scene is quickly taken over by the multitudes of federal law enforcement agencies that include the FBI, DEA, BATF, Homeland Security, the IRS and countless other federal personnel. Theses federal agencies are not there to assist but to take over. The people of each state and their legislatures are perfectly capable of creating and enforcing their own laws regarding the use of drugs and alcohol.
A couple of other points worth mentioning are that drug laws create criminals out of people that are suffering from medical problems (i.e. addiction). The people that want to use drugs today have no problem finding drugs to use. If every federal drug agency and every federal drug law was eliminated and erased off of the books tomorrow, drugs considered illegal today would still be illegal in every state under the existing state laws. The only difference is that we would be saving about $100 billion a year. This money could go a long ways toward education and rehabilitation.
Society would be much better of if the dollars spent in fighting drug wars, and imprisoning people for drug possession was spent on drug education and medical rehab.
….Let's hope and pray that our political focus will soon shift toward preserving liberty and individual responsibility and away from authoritarianism. The future of the American Republic depends on it. Let us not forget the American dream depends on keeping alive the spirit of liberty.

There is one thing that is most responsible for maintaining ‘the lie’ and for promoting the problems in this world more than any single entity or collective. That thing is The Media.
We read many an article on the world-wide web about mysterious cabals and individuals of prominence who are accused, singly and collectively of being the cause of the calamity, chaos and fear of these dark times. We hear about neo-cons and ZioNazis. We hear about Bilderberger and The Council on Foreign Relations. We hear about Bohemian Grove and ‘The City’ in London. We hear about bankers, bureaucrats and military industrial complexes. It is a sure thing that they all contribute to these conditions and that self-interest is the primary motive but… there is one thing that is most responsible for maintaining ‘the lie’ and for promoting the problems in this world than any single entity or collective. That thing is The Media.
The Media… there it is. Our perception of the appearance of events is controlled by those who control the flow of information. It is true that some portion of us do not rely on the media for our perspective on what happens …and what these events and conditions may mean. It is true this number increases every day. However, it can be successfully argued that a definite percentage of the world’s citizens get their local and world picture from the mass media of network television, radio and newspapers. It might come as a surprise to you that the people who make up that portion of the world who get their information from mass media are also that portion of the world from which ballots and canon fodder are drawn to support the enterprise of the corporations that control the content and meaning of information.

The inflatable lips and permatan on that she-thing?
fake teeth too.
I guess she lost one in an interview with Heraldo. Her ex-husband is rumored to be mafia. She probably makes money on drugs staying illegal or why would she fabricate something so stupid as "maurijuana changes your brain"? I cannot imagine that botox and restylane are better for your brain than maurijuana.
I feel and think
That this interview perfectly shows Faux News and their blatant manipulation and proganda push. Let's make this a exposure to those sheeple that buy their BS!
Man was born to be free and independent
What?
They didn't have to bring Dr. Paul on in the first place.
What are you upset at them for? For bringing in both sides of the issue?
I feel and think
That this interview perfectly shows Faux News and their blatant manipulation and proganda push. Let's make this a exposure to those sheeple that buy their BS!
Man was born to be free and independent
BUT!
Let's step back for a second and take a look at the issues that would have NEVER been part of a discussion on a MSM network a year ago.....
We have marijuana decriminalization, the foolish war on drugs, Jesse Ventura questioning 911, the Federal Reserve, the 2 party system, the US Constitution, our worthless foreign policy, the vaccine debate, autism... anymore?
The discourse is changing! Now the MSM has to parade out hacks to defend these!
Everyone knows that the war on drugs is a Big pharma operation. If people had access to marijuana, sales of anti-depressant drugs (Paxil, Zoloft) would fall like a rock.
No no no no no...a thousand
No no no no no...a thousand times, NO!! You are wrong.
In the past, LP candidates have been set up exactly like this, I've seen it way too many times. They ignore you endlessly, then trot you out to ambush you exactly like this. I can't tell you how many times I've seen it done to even our local candidates.
This BTW, is exactly why some people like the idea of the strategy of Barr's candidacy, he would have been able to handle this ambush, because he is approaching this issue differently. It is that difference that makes some people think he is for these things, when he is not. That might be sleazy but wake up people, this is how dirty and disgusting this business is, and what they did to the good doctor is no surprise. What we need to do is to be both the good and the bad cop on this these "third rail" issues. WE have to frame the debate, and that's why we need people like Paul and Barr both out there on the national stage.
As a child I was given...
Aspirin and Vitamin C. They were my gateway drugs, as I learned they reduce fever and pain and boost immunity and healing.
These days, many kids I know at the age when I took those gateway drugs (Aspirin and Vitamin C) are Ordered to consume drugs like Prozac, Ritalin, Risperidol, Seroquel, Ativan, Clonazepam, and so on and so on.
Marijuana is somewhere in between my own experience as a child, and that of today's children. To keep it illegal is simple hypocrisy. We all know who benefits from this, and we know it isn't the cause of freedom and mutual respect, but it's the Protestant Mob--e.g. the "legitimate" pharmaceutical industry.
Congressman Doctor Ron Paul is more worthy of rendering a medical and legal opinion on this issue than that snide woman who followed him in this video. She is not a Doctor of Medicine, and frankly, should step aside.
Fact:Over 2 million young teens in the U.S. actually start with
prescription drugs out of the home medicine cabinet. If anything I would say these are the 'gateway' drugs. But really, the gateway is the parents. Lack of education, and lack of healthy character development. Interaction needs to be initiated, ideally, first by responsible parents, and not street thugs and TV.
