RNC telling congressional candidates to avoid the convention and encouraging them to criticize fellow Republicans/Congress.
I don't like this idea. If it works, then the same crappy people will weasel their way back into elected positions and do the same things/mistakes again.... and it will probably not shine well on the new Ron Paul Republicans running....
I dunno.... what do you think, should we invite them to our convention? maybe we could teach them a few things.
Maybe they'll tell all the delegates to stay home too ; )
At least now, with even fewer people attending the convention, it will be soooo boring that the media will much rather cover our event!
CNN) — The man spearheading campaign efforts for congressional Republicans has some advice for embattled legislators locked in tough races: stay away from the GOP convention.
In a Thursday conference call with lawmakers and campaign strategists, National Republican Congressional Committee Chair Tom Cole argued candidates should steer clear of the party’s summer convention in Minneapolis, calling it a “waste of time” in a tough year when every day on the campaign trail counts.
According to a report in The Hill, the Oklahoma congressman urged Republican lawmakers to feel free to criticize the party – including prospective future colleagues, citing dismal congressional approval ratings. “These ratings are worse than we had on the eve of losing the majority,” he said. “Don’t be afraid to say you are disappointed in fellow Republicans… don’t hesitate to be anti-Washington, D.C.’”
Several GOP senators have already announced their plans to skip the Republican National Convention, including Maine Senator Susan Collins and North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole, who had a prime-team speaking role at the last RNC.

Sounds like Rats...
Sounds like Rats fleeing a sinking ship
I think it is simpler than that
The Republican brand is so ruined that the don't want their future hopefuls getting the stink on them. It's like they are saying to talk bad about staying the course whilste staying the course. I think the RNC knows a catastrophic loss is coming and so they are trying to keep the stink off them as much as possible for when they start blaming the Democrats for everything as soon as they control office.
This could help us out
All the McCain delegates too discouraged to show up? Bummer!
no, just people who are
no, just people who are congressmen/congressional candidates.... not all of them are delegates, and very few of them are.
What's laughable is that
What's laughable is that they can see their own doom so clearly, yet have to advise "don't be afraid to say you are disappointed in fellow Republicans...don't hesitate to say you are anti-Washington D.C."
It a little late to take that course. This is like turning the oars in your little boat in the opposite direction---when you're fifty feet from the precipice of Niagara Falls.
Note that they are still afraid to criticize Bush directly, and use the toothless euphemism "anti-Washington DC". LOL!

Aren't they Super Delegates?
Aren't the sitting lawmakers in Congress the "Super Delegates" at the convention? If they don't show up, then it would be good for us "IF" Dr. Paul was speaking at the national convention. He's not, so this is prolly being advised to everyone because they do not want to deal with the seeds of dissent over McCain, and they just want to ram their guy through committee and be done with it.
Either that...
or they are going to nuke the "TARGET" arena, and are warning of the overflow of radiation.
Maybe that is part of these new weapons they have for the guest

OMG! You scare me! I'm
OMG! You scare me! I'm glad we are in Minneapolis and not St. Paul, though.
This is nuts
So the GOP is saying, "We are so bad, just go ahead and dog on us so that you won't lose votes. We aren't going to change, mind you, but you don't have to line up with us. Don't worry, we won't hold it against you, as a matter of fact, we give you permission. Don't even bother to come to our convention even. Now good luck to you. Go out and try to win your races even if you are one of us, but just tell everyone you aren't, so you will get those votes. Just separate yourself from us, the White House and the future associates from here, in other words, McCain."
As I read somewhere, the only way Obama will win is if the Republicans want him to because they have so much on him. I'd say with this announcement, it is pretty obvious that they know they are going to lose.
that's an excellent summary.
that's an excellent summary.
Seems reasonable to me.

this is gonna be one hell of
this is gonna be one hell of a september =D
This seems like
a coded message. I bet there is more to this. It's creepy. Peace
Yeah, it does concern me a
Yeah, it does concern me a bit that the RNC is telling their colleagues to stay away.
I have wondered myself
we have a poll going at liberty love forums as to where the next false flag will be sadly enough behind Houston, St. Paul has the second most votes.
Time will tell.
Wait a minute!!
As I read this article, one lone eyebrow involuntarily raised and remained cocked with suspicion, a la Mr. Spock.
Uh...the RNC is in St. Paul. The Rally for the Republic is in Minneapolis.
Did Cole mean to tell congressional Republicans to stay away from the Rally for the Republic? If so, does that imply that some sizable number of congressional Republicans have been planning to attend??
Conversely:
If Cole does, in fact, mean to tell congressional pubs to stay away from the RNC in Downtown St. Paul (and he just can't tell one city from another), the obvious question is: why? Clearly, it is not merely because the congress critters might miss out on three days' stumping. So what's the real reason?
Why, also, would Cole publicly call for congressional pubs to:
- criticize the Republican Party
- cite dismal congressional approval ratings
- express disappointment in fellow Republicans
- not hesitate to be "anti-Washington, D.C."
The National Republican Chair openly calling the COP Convention "a waste of time"?? Exhorting fellow Republicans to criticize and demean their own party?? What's up with that? What is that strategy? Who benefits from this, and why, and how? What's the angle?
The whole things stinks like yesterday's diapers...and just like a filled diaper, from the outside it may look strange enough, but it's probably even a whole lot messier underneath.
Well, I'm in Minnesota right
Well, I'm in Minnesota right now, and usually Minnesota/Saint Paul is referred to as either the Twin Cities, or the Cities. Generally people do no distinguish the two, but when they do, they always refer to both cities simply as Minneapolis, as it is the larger, more dominant city. This is also generally the name people use to reference the area nationally.... Minneapolis is just a bigger, more well-known city.
Noting that fact, and the fact that the article says the "party's" convention, I don't think it's anything we need to be worried about.
I was thinking it's a major CNN typo
The whole article is strange. It does'nt make any sense to tell candidates to stay away. Also it mentions various senators are actually skipping the RNC convention completely. Simply bazaar.

Show your support on the Ron Paul Map !
People worldwide support Dr. Paul too :-)
http://www.pollingmatrix....
Well, I get why they're
Well, I get why they're doing it.... so they can have extra time to campaign.... since the odds are against them, they need all the time they can get.... but it seems cheap for them to put on this act, when really they haven't changed..... somebody above described it very well....
This proves it
The Real Convention will be in Minneapolis.
Exactly
Exactly
It sounds like they might not want to be embarrassed
when the RFR outdraws their convention. So, their telling people not even to attend to lessen it...
Well, both places are
Well, both places are referred to as the Twin Cities and maybe Cole just can't make himself say the name St. 'PAUL' :-P
this is exactly what i
this is exactly what i thought ... i noticed these discrepencies and didn't understand what the RNC is trying to do ... they made a mistake saying their convention was in minneapolis instead of st. paul ... are you kidding that they don't know where their own convention is ... and that is coming from the top?
and he is also saying things like show your dissaproval of fellow republicans and etc ... it seems as if they know the party is going to collapse unless they nominate Ron Paul
I think they know they are going to lose going into it with McCain
Damage Control
They're probably planning to attend the REAL convention with us anyway.
A press release telling them not to bother attending makes sense.
wow this is good news we can
wow this is good news we can definitely capitalize on .. seems like the republicans are starting to realize that they have lost they way and are defecting ... why not invite them to our convention and steal the convention lol
only sounds like good news to me people leaving the boring hopeless GOP 10 miles away and coming down the street for our rally for the republic
what do you guys think?
no yawning
The NeoCon Anational Convention has all the makings of an exciting dentist's convention.

This is great news! When there is nothing to report, they'll
come to us! Let them stay home! That is the same as sitting out their vote! You know OUR delegates are going!!! Whoo hoo! I hope they listen!

HAHA! Maybe they'll just
HAHA! Maybe they'll just tell all the delegates to stay home too, and then we can win!
