Here's a link to the FDIC's failed bank list.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

I think they will continue

to bite the dirt but the Fed will be reluctant to disclose who they are. They might even give it a fancy name to make it sound sweet like rearranging furniture. Something like, "The Fed today is helping a lovely bank in California find it deposits that seem to be misplaced, when we find them they will be cleaned and pressed and put somewhere safe". LOL

sounds

right

Is this still an issue

Did Bush give some kind of premptive approval to the fed to move in and help banks without making things public knowledge .You know more manipulation ?

"announced"?

Sorry for being obtuse here, but who are "they" and what is meant by "announced"?

One of my favorite movies ...

The Shawshank Redemption.

That is where that word re entered the lexicon.

Can you be more specific, Rhino?

I still don't understand the original post.

Sorry Akak, I was off topic.

When a bank can no longer cover withdrawls, payroll, and other regular liabilities, it does not close its doors.

The FDIC comes in and takes over its assets and accounts.

They issue press releases to that affect when it occurrs:

There has been 8 so far this year and most experts predict many more in the coming weeks.

As it turns out, they usually do this on Friday so that there are a few days to work out the bugs.

What Happens

Say if I have a car loan or credit card thru a bank and it goes under??

Those loans are assets of

Those loans are assets of the bank. They will be sold to whatever company, or companies, that purchase the assets.

Money disappears

Money disappears

You mean

Peoples savings ? I guess I don't understand the whole effect this will have.

One word ...

Really

Can these loans be "called" in at any time. Can this be in fine print somewhere on some loans?

Yes, loans can be called in. Check your contract.

Especially the fine print. This is what happened at the beginning of the Great Depression. The Fed (yeah, the same one) made credit easy, then stopped. The banks had their money out and needed to cover their own deals, so they called in most loans. If you were a business man or homeowner, where could you go to borrow money? Many people lost their homes, many small business went under. Some large corporations went to the only people besides the Fed that had money. Organized crime was making lots of cash off of illegal booze, and gangsters loaned money to major corporations, thereby becoming legitimate businessmen eventually. We are seeing just the beginning of what is happening, Dr. Paul estimates that we are only about 25% of the way into this depression. He used Japan for an example, their economy has been suffering for 15 years. The answer to the main problem is such a simple one, we just need to pay the lower class a lot more, and the middle class more. Let people earn enough to live on. That is the best way to stimulate the economy.

Great Idea

Tell that to the people that voted for NAFTA.

Anyone have a guess as to which Big Bank will fail?

There are several candidates floating around the web.

bank of the west

I talked to the friendly folks at Bank of The West today. They assured me they won't go under, primarily because they are really big.

Maybe they will and maybe they won't.

True but when a huge household name hits the shreader

a wave of panic will ensue.

There won't be any big ones yet.

Its time to bring the FFF back.

Things are going to get interesting this Friday and especially next.
