but if they don't like being called criminals (and the like) they should stop acting like government-sponsored criminals. it's kinda hard to have any respect for those who are sworn to protect (and uphold) our constitutional rights when most of what they do is a complete violation of both (their oath and our rights)...
Ive been telling people to be nicer to the cops, even though some are dicks. Its not a good look for yourself though you come out looking like the asshole. Respect everyone always, disagree with the ones you dont like.
Respect and contempt always and only for those who deserve it.
Courtesy to ALL strangers (including cops). It is much easier to move from a position of neutrality to hostility or neutrality to alliance than for either the other way around.
Cops are human beings, many of whom think they are doing the right (and righteous) thing. The nicer and more polite we are while inspiring them to perform their jobs the more cognitive dissonance they will have to overcome and the more they will be inclined to question their orders.
