T. Boone Pickens is trying to scam the public. He wants the government to use emminent domain to buy (forced sales), with our tax dollars, hundreds of thousands of acres of land from private people and then turn the land over to him. It appears he may also want protectionst regulations put in place to limit oil imports in order to keep prices higher than wind power so that we're "pursuaded" to buy from him. With this land and new government regulations he wants to monopolize wind power and WATER supplies. He is not a true capitalist businessman who profits through free competition, but a scammer who wants to use the government's strongarm to obtain unearned wealth and secure a government-granted monopoly.
Do not fall for this scam artist who is trying to use government coercion just to so he can have the prestige of moving up in the list of richest people.
I would think all libertarian-minded people could unite against this and stop it before the public gets manipulated by him and his vague television commercials.
Ron Paul should be all over this, since this is starting out in Texas, where Pickens pursaded the government to change some laws so that he could obtain land through emminent domain.
As Dr. Paul says, the market should decide what energy we use, not the government. Central economic planning just causes inefficiency and diverts our wealth away from more productive uses as determined by free individuals.

Write your Congresspeople. Talk to people. Let them know what Picken's really wants. Turn people against this before a gullible public gets seduced into supporting this. Forced implementation of the Picken's Plan is not inevitable ..yet.

I like the plan. I listened
I like the plan. I listened to him testify before congress. He already IS throwing a bunch of his own money. He was asking the government to EITHER help OR get out of the way. This country exports $700 billion a year to foreign nations to purchase oil. If the U.S. spent that much, the entire infrastructure could be changed over immediately--in one year. Yes, I understand, it's not their right to spend the money, etc etc. But what would you rather have? $700 bln less because the gov decided to get us off the need for foreign oil and thus the need to even care about what goes on in the middle east or $700 bln less PER YEAR AND future wars IN the middle east while doing nothing to advance into different energy usage scenarios? I'd take the former as a stop gap measure any time. Just like I'd take the flat tax over the current system any time. It's not perfect, but in both cases I think the advocates (such as Pickens) have their hearts in the right place, and are not, as many seem to believe, doing it purely for money.
If...
...it were run like, say, a cellular tower..in which I can put up a cell tower on MY LAND and the different telephone companies that use it pay me a small percentage of the line traffic thru "my" tower...if it were run like that, I wouldn't have a problem with the Plan. If the poor people who live waaaay out there in windy ol' Dump Truck County, Oklahoma get a piece of that pie, I think it would be great!! Pickens sounds like a snake oil salesman.

The other problem with pickens
If he's so damn rich then why doesn't he buy those properties on the free market instead of wasting it on public service ads? Every million dollar he puts up can be spent on a windmill.

He wants a lot more than just the land. He needs additional subsidies and protectionist regulations to be instituted in order for him to be profitable, since he knows wind power isn't economically feasible.
but it also targets the global warming...
so what more do you want? Who cares that thousands will suffer when we can safe the planet at the same time. After all it is worth to destroy human lives to reduce global warming by... 0.002%

If he wanted to set up wind farms he could just do it by using his own money. Why run commercials? I kept seeing the ads, and knew he wanted something from us, but couldn't figure out what it was. With a little research, there it is. One big scam.

that if T- Bone didn't support Ron Paul that he is not the real deal.
I think he may be betting on an Obama
win, in order to implement this. I can't really see McCain supporting it, but I guess he might. It would depend on how corrupt he was. I think this plan would be appealing to Democrats more so than Republicans.
